Using the WOTC AT-AT

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So I found an unopened AT-AT in a shop this past weekend for $150 and went ahead and bought it. I keep all of my Imperial Assault models on a shelf, and this guy looks amazing with all of them.

Have any of you guys tried to use one of these for a custom game? Any rules or general values that seem appropriate? I figure the easiest way would be for it to be "un-manned" and have each side of a skirmish race to get the access card, and then be the first team to have uncontested control of the base of the AT-AT, winning by "stealing" it.

EDIT - Here's a picture!

I have that as well. Haven't given much thought on how to incorporate it into IA.

You'd have to use the maps that come with it, not the IA tiles. Or perhaps you could use the WOTC maps, and sort of connect them with some echo base tiles at the base entrances on the WOTC map.

You could even use either of the pre done scenarios that come with the AT-AT. You'd just have to come up with attack and health values for it etc.

Or you could come up with your own scenario. The rebels have to approach it on foot and set charges on the legs to stop it or something. Could be fun, but very tricky to get the rules and balance right.

As far as converting it to IA, I think it should retain these features from its WOTC version:

It gets 4 activations rather than 2. It has two different attacks, the heavy blasters and light blasters. If it moves into a space containing any figure, that figure might be crushed, depending on some sort of die roll.

C'mon, show us some pictures! I'd love to see the AT-AT beside Imperial Assault figures.

I think that stating out an AT-AT is a very bad idea. Fortunately imperial assault has mission rules that allow you to include things without stats in the games. Assuming you plan on building a skirmish game for it rather than campaign I'd suggest you have the player with initiative pick a target for it to shoot (Say BBR needing 6 accuracy or something). At the end of each turn give the player with most figures adjacent to the sum of its legs some victory points then randomly determine which legs stomps down and inflict some strain on everything adjacent (you win by climbing up and getting inside, but AT-AT legs are not safe things).

That's my idea for an AT-AT scenario; hope it's helpful.

Hey the scale is pretty close! That looks awesome, man! I hope you can crush some rebels with it!

Yeah but $150? Yeesh. Maybe FFG will offer a scale AT-AT.(Gents and Dames? You listening?)

I got mine for $40 when I got it but that was like 6 years ago...
