Some ideas for Regionals. Feedback needed.

By Rogue Dakotan, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

So with the Leia map in the rotation, I've decided to bring Boba Fett back, since his 6 speed mobile just laughs at all that difficult terrain on that map.

Also Boba with a free 2 space move from Gideon or an Officer guarantees me a token pickup with him on any of the maps. Works even better if my opponent has initiative so I can scoot him out first thing next round before he gets hurt.

Here are some ideas I've thrown together:

1-----------------------------------

Boba Fett
Gideon Argus
HK Assasin Droid
Bantha Rider
Nexu

Beast Tamer
Devious Scheme

Temporary Alliance

2------------------------------------------

Boba Fett

Gideon Argus
C-3PO

HK Assasin Droid
Bantha Rider
Hired Gun

Temporary Alliance

3------------------------------------------------

Boba Fett
Gideon Argus
C-3PO
HK Assasin Droid
HK Assasin Droid
Hired Gun
Devious Scheme

Temporary Alliance

4--------------------------------

Boba Fett

Elite Stormtrooper
Elite Stormtrooper

Stormtrooper
Imperial Officer
Temporary Alliance

Any feedback or thoughts on these lists is useful.

I really enjoy using Boba and have a decent amount of experience with him. I like how he acts on all of the maps.

I think hold off until Wing Guards become available:

Boba Fett (13)

eWing Guards (9)

eWing Guards (9)

Ugnaught Tinkerer(3)

Temp Alliance (1)

Gideon (3)

C-3PO (2)

Is the list I'd like to work with.

i think out of all the lists from the OP the last two are probably the better ones to go with, they are more flexible and more likely to be able to make best use of their attacks in all situations, some of the other lists either are very specialised (e.g. top list) or don't make the most out of certain units e.g. list 2

More List ideas. I'm sure this will all go out the window when Bespin comes out, but for know I'm working with what we've got.

If you feel you need the extra activation and movement, you could drop the nexu to a regular and take another officer.

I'm not a massive fan of Boba (as much as I want to be) because I find him easy to ignore. He's super expensive to just jump around and grab objectives. On Fallout maybe he'd be good coz the objectives are worth 9pts each. But on some of the other maps I think he really struggles to make his points back.

That being said... I have to use him some more. I've played very few games with him, but have beaten him often.

I've found this to be the case. Whenever I'm against Boba, I find that it's not too painful to simply ignore him for the most part and focus on taking down the rest of his squad whenever possible. Then he's usually one of the last enemies to fall. It's just a waste to attack him when there are other (more squishy) targets around...and other than Vader, just about every figure in the game is more squishy...and you can't afford to ignore Vader for very long!

IMHO, I think he would be useful at around 9 or maybe 10 pts, rather than 13. The problem is that he suffers from the same over-costing problem as almost all of the Unique figures that were released in the first year: Vader, RGC, Weiss, Han, Chewie, IG-88...all of them are really cool characters, with good flavor and utility, and fun to play...but they're just overcosted by several points each.

Is the Elite Nexu for 6 pts worth a regular Stormtrooper, or potential Wing Guard or even more so Blaise?

~D

that's what I'm wondering.

I really like the Nexu's potential on the Leia map with all that open space and difficult terrain he can ignore.

I think the eNexu is better than regular troopers... they're just too squishy and the nexu can take a huge amount of punishment provided you don't roll a blank.

The mobility, auto cleave 2 and auto bleed make's him a huge backline threat and great at contesting terminals.

Hard to say if he's better than Blaise... he isn't out yet and I think they fill very different roles. Blaise is more of a support character with all his command card shenanigans.

Probably a discussion for a different thread but I don't think RGC is overcosted like all those other characters are. Maybe by 1 point.

It's quite possible to make his points back due to brutality, executor and his high speed. There's no way you can ignore him like you can ignore boba. I agree all the others have downsides and struggle to be worth that much, but RGC is a serious threat not to be taken lightly, without any of the weaknesses of the other characters.

He does almost as much damage as Vader, he's as tough to kill as Chewie and he's almost as fast as Boba.

yeah. Hiding eTroopers and having another leader to use command cards off of is tempting.

Currently I'm in the air about:

Boba

eTrooper

eTrooper

Blaise

Officer

temp

or

Boba

eTrooper

eTrooper

eNexu

Officer

temp

As set above, a lot of people ignore Boba, which I hope to capitalize on by putting him in the thick of things, which might force people to waste shots on him, and give my troopers more time, or, if they still ignore him, he'll have free pickings of targets instead of keeping him held back. And maybe even trigger his often forgotten battle presence ability.

The nexu is still tempting because of the auto cleave in what seems to be a troopery swarmy sort of meta right now and his mobile for the leia map.

I think Boba can be used well.... but he's most useful against Rebels. He's good at taking out back line support units like gideon, C3PO etc... however he'll still struggle to make his points back so you need to make sure that the stuff you kill up the back is worth more strategically.
Perhaps he's good at hunting HKs as well.

Against Imperials is where he struggles. Officers just aren't worth hunting (maybe elites but still). Against everything else he'll either get swarmed or just not do enough damage to pose much of a threat. Might be a bit better on the objective maps I guess.

He's always been good for grabbing objectives for me, especially if he gets an extra two spaces with an officer or Gideon.

And sometimes he can't be ignored. In some situations it's just not possible to hit 40 points without killing him.

Getting in a practice game tomorrow. I'm going to try this one first and see how I like it:

Now I just need to craft a command deck. Any ideas?

1Survival Instincts
1Field Tactician

That's what I have so far. What changes would you recommend? Any vital cards I'm missing out on?
