By Polda, in Imperial Assault Painting and Modification

Ok so screw ugnaughts, I started with the Jedi. Of course I did... he's a **** Jedi.

Finished Murne, still thinking what to do with her base.

Oh, wow. Your Murne is looking absolutely beautiful. What did you use to get the reddish hue of the skin?

Oh snap, I just realized that's one figure that's going to be super painful to try to cut out of its original base...

She looks amazing, btw! Great job highlighting the robes.

Thanks Elrath. The red hue is a glaze of Bloodletter with a small dot of Wazdakka red over the base skintone. I only used it to reflect the red lights on whatever the machine is on her back.

Other than that, the skin is Brown Sand from Vallejo highlighted up to Citadel Screaming Skull.

might just pick a light gray color and apply a ton of gloss varnish to make it look like the flooring in Bespin hallway scenes

That would be an Ithorian Translator . Ithorians, like wookiees, can't vocalize basic. That machine converts her grunts and creaks into basic.

I think this sort of thing was introduced in The Clone Wars, since Subtitles weren't really something they wanted to go with since many young children would be watching.

More Bespin Gambit

Agent Blaise, pair of ISB Infiltrators, Ugnaughts and Wing Guards still pending.

After seeing a certain thread, one of those Wing Guards has to become a redshirt from the other sci-fi universe.

Very nice, I think I need to switch over to the wet pallet, I end up wasting a lot of paint as it drys out so fast. Is yours home made?

Quite good for that painting time. Stil I think you shold have brighten the light saber a bit more. Also more important, I should use a dark glaze on the folds, where you have painted the light effect. It looks a bit strange that you have so much "light" in the lower parts of the folds. I like the skin tone by the way.

Yep, tupperware, flat sponges, some parchment paper (not wax paper) and warm water.

Finishing touches did not fit into the set time frame I wanted to hit.

I skipped the pupils, detailed highlight work and basing for that same reason.

Just tried to get it as good as it can get in as little time as possible because I get backed up every time an expansion comes out.

This way I am testing if I can get each big box painted to "playable" state quick and then do the lengthy detailing later when I get more time. I mean, we wanna play with painted stuff right away but I'm a lazy bastard:D

I used a homemade one for awhile, but the thicker the sponge is, the less well it works. I recommend spending $7-10 at Hobby Lobby and get the real deal. They sell a shallow white plastic tray with thin palette sponge that can be cut to size. Regular parchment paper still works fine.

After f****** about with Mansions 2nd ed I'm back to painting Imperial Assault for a while.

Here's an unfinished Rancor.

What a beaut!

Other stuff in the works.

EDIT: The Wing Guards are sprayed blue, then light blue from top and details painted in. I tested this as a technique to make completing expansions quicker.

Nice work. I gotta keep that probe droid paint scheme in mind for when the new Droid murder bots arrive. I like your workstation too, lots to do there.

Thanks, kept the droids as simple as possible.

Bodies are black primer, drybrush of Leadbelcher (any darker silver will do) and Nuln Oil Gloss wash.

"Eyes" are Leadbelcher with red Gel paint (Blood for the Blood God) on top.

ISB infiltrators, have Blaise in the works (highlights pending) in the same scheme.
