Cobas Haven

By banania, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Is not mentionned either in The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings of its Appendices, only in the History of ME.

Could FFG have acquired the rights to use this material too?

That'd mean the health of the game is better than I thought it was, if FFG extended the licensed material the designers can peer through.

It'd also mean possible Blue Wizards cards!

If I'm not mistaken, the Blue Wizards are only mentioned by name in the Unfinished Tales, which is most definately off-limits. I can hope, though,

Fall of Gondolin confirmed!

Is it on a map, though? Those are included as part of the Lord of the Rings. That could be enough.

I checked too, seems it's not :-)

That'll be a lawsuit.

Yes, even the encyclopedia of Arda does not have it.

I'm eager to read to flavor introduction text of this scenario. If the quoted text is not The Hobbit or LotR it will means a lot

Wouldn't it be amazing having a First Age / Silmarillion Saga after the LOTR Saga expansion?

Ok i'm dreaming.

The rights to the non-Hobbit and LotR properties are held by different people. There won't ever be a deal for them.

Fall of Gondolin confirmed!

It would be like entering the paradise if such a scenario existed ... Raven do you read? Haha

I don't know how things like that are usually dealt with by companies or if it is common to make companies not tell to much about licenses they buy, but if I would have aquired a new license, I would tell the community. So I would expect FFG to make a note somewhere that we can expect to see things outside of hobbit/lotr. It would be a nice advertisement, too.

Is it possible that the rights to use the Name are given, because it's a place in middle-earth mentioned or not?

You folks could be blowing their cover too.

One thought to consider: did FFG just create this location (as they've created characters) and had the bad luck to match something the Tolkien used outside of what they hold the license for?

In the "upcoming" section of the Edge web (the company which sells lord of the rings in Spain), there's an image showing the hero in Cobas Haven, it will be Na'asiyah. (I am a little disappointed with the increasing number of non-canonical heroes, but... a new hero is a new hero :) )

I'll kiss a balrog if Sahir isn't the hero in the last pack.

I really hope we don't get Sahir as hero... in this cycle we'll get Argalad and Na'asiyah as FFG-Made heroes... I hope the rest will be characters from the books.

Na'asiyah has the Corsair an Warrior trait. First character with this trait.

I wonder if she has the same abilities as her objective card.

5Th AP = another FFG created Hero, the pattern continues :)

ATS 2 Mirlonde
ATS 5 Caldara
RM 2 Idraen

AA 2 Rossiel
AA 5 Amarthiúl
FoSC 2 Lanwyn
FoSC 5 Na'asiyah

Judging by the previous dispute in the flavor text between Nyashish and Sahir, I'd bet that Nyashish "betrays" him when he betrays us.

So, she costs 1 less threat than her stats make total. Makes one wonder what horrors her text box has in store for us.

I thought exactly the same as you, John Constantine.

I hope that at least is good ability which can be trigged only once per game, or something like that... because if it's a drawback... it will be an awful hero with mediocre stats. What is interesting is the possibility of building a secrecy deck with Tactics heroes: with the new Eowyn, Merry, and Na'asiyah, your starting threat will be 20.

Wow, definitely puzzled by this news.

I mean, I'd be ok (more than ok) to see Umbar, Corsair, Harad or even Khandish player cards, as I think those people more as "gray" than as "utterly evil", as they were maily manipulated by Sauron. The underdevelopped 'doomed' mechanics would suite rather well those people, in my opinion.

BUT, considering we did not even have a single Woodman hero, Eagle hero, few Isengard allies, only one Beorning (except from Beorn), no Silvan Spirit hero (albeit Galadriel could be considered as such), no Thranduil, not much lore Rohan, leadership Noldor and so much stuff still 'missing' in some ways I must forget half of them, I'd rather have those "gray" people developped in a few years only, maybe one dedicated Deluxe each, with 4 heroes, etc. Not now.

I still think it's cool, but not now.

If they gave us any of those I might be forced to invest in this cycle. Fortunately it's been easy to ignore so far.

I think there'll be more of a tradeoff than a drawback. Making a drawback on the 1/2/2/4 hero makes no sense to me, as those stats, to be honest, are pretty bad, and discount of 1 threat cost doesn't makes them any better.

Given they just copied her stats from her objective ally version, they might as well copy her first printed action (spend 1 resource from her during the attack to give her +2atk/+2def during that attack).

It sounds really plausible. If that, it would be nice to me.

A 2 defense, 2 attack hero which can be 4 in any of them by paying 1 resource sounds good, and very similar to some other cards we are getting in this cycle. It looks like the "pay to" it's becoming a new mechanic.
