Imperial: Finally found my B-wing killers!

By Tirnaog, in X-Wing

4 Punishers with AccCorrector and Ion Engine upgrades.

Keep them tight and mass fire on each B-wing.

100pts.

Seems to come down to init and of course dice rolls.

But the 8 hits each is the key. finally enough to take out the B-wings shields and hulls.

:)

Man, B-wings are dead in the water at the moment - I kinda miss their ugly faces.

If you really want to accuracy correct them to death, have you considered Stormin' tie advanced? This list should take care of most b-wing lists easily enough: 3 agility, 5 health and an evade token isn't too much fun to chew through, and the most spoints- efficient ace in the game added in to boot :)

==================

Storm Squadron Pilot (23) x 3
TIE Advanced (23), TIE/x1 (0), Accuracy Corrector (3)

The Inquisitor (31)
TIE Advanced Prototype (25), Push the Limit (3), TIE/v1 (1), Autothrusters (2)

I didn't realise B-wings were difficult to take down? Or, indeed, that they were seeing enough table time to be concerned about?

What did your opponent run?

4 Bwings with Plasma Torps and Guidance chips may outmatch your Punishers, depending on initiative.

This is a somewhat limited build, as I can see against other Aces lists, the punishers would be fairly outmaneuvered.

Also - the 4 Tie Advanced Acc Corrector list is harder to hit and would be pretty deadly in a head to head joust.

Depends on your local meta, to be honest. BBBBZ was the real terror back in the day.

I flew a bog-standard B wing the other day, but I found it pretty tough to use. I wonder if I had too many asteroids, which limited the B wings effectiveness as firepower 3 is not that amazing for a rebel list.

I think Neera's got game, but I don't really like any of the others. Dagger, maybe. But I think no ship hates the new plasma-torp-scout meta more than the B - For all those hps, there's still a good chance you've lost a b in two shots...

It really was, but now the number of 3+ attack die ships with high agility has grown making it even hard to fly 1 agility ships with predictable dials.

The strategy for dealing with B-wings has not changed. Don't joust with them and out fly them. Block them or keep them stressed to reduce their options and chances of landing extra damage.

I'm liking the look of Nera a lot, although I suspect I'd need Biggs to draw some fire away from her...

The G-1A has the edge over B-Wings for me, particularly against Scouts. The Evade action notably adds to their durability, making it notably more likely it'll take at least three torpedoes to kill one, and PS 3 gives it something of an edge. Throw a FCS on a Ruthless Freelancer for 25 points, and a I think four of them would be quite meaty.

If I'm just wanting to kill B-Wings with Imperial ships, four Tempest Squadron Advanced with Cluster Missiles, Accuracy Correctors and Guidance Chips should do the job nicely.

The TA and the TAP are both great choices to fly against a meta filled with high health / low agility ships. They are hard to hit and hit consistently in return. The TA fix has made the Tempest into a little monster.

But this still guarantees only two hits twice, right? You can't AC into two hits and then use the chips afterwards on the third die, correct?

Shuttles... if you're flying non-palp aces shuttles...then you hate BWINGS (or imperial firesprays).

Thanks for all the replies :)

Usually its just me and a friend. His been beating the hell out of me with his 4 B-wings with AccCorrs. Not sure if there is any other upgrades on them. Dont think so.

My 4 Lamba Shuttles gave him a scare but they were not maneuverable enough. :)

I am thinking of trying 4 TFAdv Tempests with AccCorr, Ion Engines and Proton Rockets.

8 to 12 hits possible each round with possible 5 dice rocket shots look nice.

A bit faster then the punishers but not sure if they will last.

:)

Accuracy corrector is optional. If you roll 3 dice, and 2 are hits, time to use Guidance Chips for a third hit.

If you roll less than 2 hits, use Accuracy Corrector.

The odds are when using Cluster Missiles, you are likely to roll 2 unmodified hits on one of your attacks. Guidance Chips is free anyway.

The other option is 4 TIE Advanced with AC and Backstabber.

You mean some one discovered the TIE phantom and other arc dodgers?

Me either I've certainly never had trouble killing them.

I too have had fun with AC punishers. 9 hits is a lot to chew through and boost helps with maneuvering. You can even pull reds without much worry since offense is already taken care of.

Pfft hit them with TB and they don't last long at all.

Or basiclly any ship in this meta that isnt a scum small base

Haha, B-Wings dead?

I just got swatted by a keyed up Keyan and Ten Numb with a single Z-95! I had 5 TIEs, a Bomber and a Squint!

Sure I blanked literally every roll I made, but still!

B-Wings are not dead. Not by a long shot.

I lost a B-Wing (Neera Dantels, Flechette Torpedoes x2, Deadeye) in short order last night to Vader (Advanced Targeting Computer, Predator, TIE Mk 2), Phennir (Autothrusters, Push the Limit), and Redline (Concussion Missiles, Extra Munitions, Fire Control System, Guidance Chips). Focused fire, concentrated re-rolls, and automatic dice modifiers took her down before she could fire a shot.

(I've been trying to fly the pilots I've never tried before, so my squad of B- and C-list pilots sure didn't help. Blue Ace guessing wrong on the boost direction takes you a long way around. Some lucky bombing by Warden Squadron evened the playing field somewhat, but forgetting that C-3PO was in the other cockpit set me back as well.)

Why would you use Punishers when TIE/x1s get the same for three points less?
