Active Defense - Mentioned where ?

By Marachai5, in WFRP Rules Questions

Hi :) ,

I was wondering where in the main rule book it mentions Active Defense, and its use out of your own "active turn".

Its obviously intended for use when you are being attacked, its just I can't find the rule that governs this in the main book, and I was hoping someone would tell me where. I'm clearly being blind and looking over it when I look.

Thanks for the help.

M.

"Active Defence" is not mentioned anywhere in the rulebooks that I can recall. I believe they are referred to as "Active" because you have to actively use them to gain their benefits. If you use a "Defence" spell, it's in effect and you can forget about it, it will protect you until it expires.

That's my take on it.

I might be wrong, but Active Defenses like Parry, Block and Dodge, if you have them, do not have to be played in your own turn as your Action Card for that turn. Instead they are played in the GM's turns, when an NPC attacks you. Action Cards like Guarded Defense, which are just classified as Defenses, must intead be played in your turn, as your action card and are active until your next turn, if successfully activated. That is my interpretation.
