Y'all are bitching that U-Boats are OP but I keep seeing some form of Palp Aces dominating the regionals this season. If it's a top 16, I'm not surprised to see 12 of those builds there. Funny thing is when one trip scouts makes it to the top 16, all you hear is OP. Stop complaining and learn to fly better against them.
Do the scouts have to reach pre-nerf phantom to be fixed?

Just imperial whine, nothing fancy about it.
The most vocal ones xD
Stop complaining and learn to fly better against them.
Said all the ez-mode skating ordnance throwing uBoat players out there..
Everyone, including those playing them can see that the Contracted Scout is undercosted / overpowered for its point cost.
To me this is similar to Whisper pre-nerf, except with Whisper it was one mechanic that was the issue and here it is the mech,Chip + EPT (Deadeye) combo on a generic TURRET ship.
Now, Whisper made a splash, won a few tournaments and then it was Fat Hans all over the place in response to that for a year and Fat Han even took Worlds.
Now it is PalpAces in place of Fat Han, to counter uBoats.
The cycle continues until the Devs gets it right, if ever.

Except Palp Aces was there before U-boats and it has only gotten better by adding more options (Wampa, OL, Inquisitor, soon Vessery). Why do you think Palp Aces is less of a problem than U-boats?

This. Palp Aces has been around for several waves and was kept in check by a lot of Rebel builds (such as Stresshog and Regen ships) and the infamous Decivader.
The only addition from previous wave is inquisitor instead of Vader or Carnor (or some other ace), and that's a pretty lateral change depending on your preferences (i would argue that Carnor is stronger overall, but less forgiving to fly).
Anyway scouts have pushed Palp Aces counters out of the meta while Palp Aces itself is one of the best counters to scouts, so naturally we see a lot of Palp Aces having success right now. But obviously that doesnt mean they are the underlying problem.

I don't think there are many calling imperial aces OP because even with Palp they take a high amount of skill to be successful. Scouts just require you to take a focus. Something a new player can do in his first game.

Didn't the emperor just get released before wave 7?
That's two waves

I hope you realise that Palp Aces are so popular because U-boats destroys many viable counters to them?
For example, Stresshog DEMOLISH Aces, but it sucks against U-boats.

Inquisitor and OL are big changes to the Palp/Aces standard, because of how cheap they are. Before you could only really fit Palp and two aces, albeit two more tooled up aces. Now you can fit Palp, two aces and Wampa, which makes a big difference to the effectiveness of the list as Wampa is a significant threat to low-hull high-defence ships like Phantoms, A-Wings, E-Wings (well, Corrans) which the list was to some extent lacking.
And yeah, also because U Boats counter the lists which counter palp-aces a lot harder than they counter palp/aces.
In fact, the only part of palp/aces that *hasn't* changed since after wave 7 is Palp. All three aces in the most common build (Wampa OL Inq Palp) have come out in the past 6 months.
E: I think people underestimate how effective a Gray Squad Stresshog could be against u-boats. Shooting first and double stressing something which requires actions to shoot effectively is huge. Especially if you can fly it well enough to only get tagged by a single torp. ANd double especially if you can catch it at a point where it can't turn left...

Palp Aces was a constant presence in the top and winning tournaments ever since Pal was released. They were popular before U-boats.
That being said, I think even without U-boats Stresshog isn't what it used to be. Between Tractor Beams (any Shuttle can have one), aces that are less dependent on actions (OL or Vessery) and the ability to field 3 ships alongside Palp, the Imps have a lot of Anti-stresshog stuff that wasn't there a while ago.
I'd rather they do something about Dash with Kanan. Way more powerful than the 3 JM5Ks. ]:
I think playing against Palp aces is like playing the slot machines, and that is why people don't usually hate this list.
Sure, the game is rigged against you slightly from the start, but not so much so that you feel there's no point playing. Palp aces go for the long game, there are many exciting moments, sometimes you can get a nice block, or get lucky with an all-blank green roll... Even if it isn't completely fair, it makes for an interesting game.
U-Boats, on the other hand, just ROTFLstomp many squads. If you can't dodge the alpha damage, you just get shredded on the first pass, and after that the experience for you is that whatever's left of your squad gets mopped up. I assume it simply produces a NPE for many people.
There is a vast gulf between "My fun rebel squad lost against Palp aces, I managed to get some nice shots off, I killed Wampa, blocked and killed the Inquisitor but by then was down to one ship vs Omega and couldn't win, I should have made him a priority" and "My squad mostly blew up on the first pass and there's honestly nothing I could have done that would have changed the outcome".

Problem is, there are things that every list can do. Closing range quickly is possible, outmanouvering three large bases so that only two can be a danger is, too. Thats better than the realization for any list with low PS that against Palp-Aces, they have to get lucky to get through all the dice mods even if they can get shots, which is almost impossible consistently.

Yup.
This is me and tactician K wings. I find flying against them a lot more frustrating than their actual difficulty implies - because they're impossible to dodge and impossible to donut hole, so you can't fly to avoid shots and still shot at them, which makes the whole game against them more or less a dice-off, and the dice are the single worst thing mechanically about this game for me.
For me I actually LIKE running against JMs by comparison - because I CAN dodge the worst of their fire, and I CAN take shots with (more or less, for Imperial trip aces) no effective return fire.
It's also a bit unfair to refer to this vs palp aces. Palp aces is an archetype that has a lot of variation between chassis. Inquisitor whisper palp, fel Vader palp, vessery ryad palp, Jax OL Wampa palp.... There's a large amount of variety there. Triple scout is a list, with pretty minimal variation - which droid, what ordnance, a crew slot or two.
How big of a problem it is, is also dependent upon your playstyle, it hits rebel lists harder I think, it's why we see the shift to the high agility a-wing with thruster defense. Coming at Wolfpack w random imp list is likely to be much easier than random rebel list.

Acewing has forced you to be hyper accurate with your attacks in order to have a chance against them.
I blame Palp Aces and the wave 7 Poe **** for U-Boats. You can't run U-Boat counters without them dying to Palp Aces.
To everyone that hates U-Boats, please stop. We know you're just buttmad that you can no longer green straight 1 to victory with Poe. Regen a shield in hell ahahahahaha!
"Regen a shield in hell ahahahahaha!"
Dude, its a game. Cannot we not condemn other gamers to eternal tournament?

Back in the day, Para had the most irrational hate for Han. Then he hated Dash. Now he's hating on all aces in general. There's always something with this guy.

Blocking users is fairly easy. Feel free to PM me, Chief Hugh, if you want me to walk you through it.
I've resisted blocking people for a long time. Eventually, I've found these new comers that annoy me mellow out and I've really gotten along with some of them now. I did finally block my first person last week for being unrepentantly rude. It does help on some people.

That's not at all an accurate of representation of Triple Jumpmaster players.
I like chocolate ice cream.
Those Jumpmaster looks slightly....different.
