Bombard Bombardiers IC

By Richardbuxton, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Wude looks around the growing chaos. Fear is something with which he is intimately familiar. He scans the scene for local animals, and tries to predict their evacuation habits as a safety outlet.

Since Wude's perception and survival instincts inexplicably fail him, he simply takes cover behind a fallen table. He continues to watch for signs of opportunity, and will bolt if he feels targeted. Now, he hides...

The Tie fighters can be heard in the distance they seem to be circling at a distance now, in a holding pattern of sorts. Gungans have begun to panic even more, with a large number now trying to scramble for the cover of the woods, or running for the ocean, a good 3 minute run away if they don't stop. Through the sounds of chaos suddenly a heavily amplified voice can be heard, emanating from somewhere in the line of Imperial troops

"Gungans. Your time of laziness is over, the Empire will no longer tolerate your slow work and short hours. Those who choose to flee now will be hunted, cut down or executed upon capture. Those who stay will work. HARD!!! You have 1 minute to submit before us."

Many of the Gungans stop, the threat of execution enough to sway them to the life they now see as inevitable. Some still continue to flee though, in fact quite a few do.

Sik Laam hobbled calmy toward the violence, through the stampede of fleeing gungans. Those who noticed him veered away, piercings and primitive fetishes showng at a glance his profession. At the edge of the woods, he watches the carnage, looking for leadership among the gungan defenders.

Bestest friend!!! Where-sa are you-sa, bestest friend?!?

[pant]

We got-sta get out-sa here-sa!!!

[pant]

Bii Mii Wuu did his best to have himself be heard over the din of the carnage. The Imperials had sent the camp into chaos and he was trying his best to guide whoever could listen out of harm's way.

Listen! We must make for the bay. TIEs Walkers do not stand a chance in those waters. We have a chance if we can lure them in. But out here we're too exposed!

A few Gungan listen to Bii, and those nearby all run with him toward the ocean, behind the cries of frustration can be heard as others give up and submit themselves to the Imperials. Things are quiet for almost a minute, only the sounds of deep breaths and feet falling on woodland ground to break the silence of the night. Then almost to the second a loud cry goes up behind, heard above all else

"Hunt them down, troops, hunt them down"

The sound of mechanical walkers strike up immediately, their heavy future falls sending birds to the sky and shockwaves through the ground. The Imperials are coming.

Bestest friend!!! Where-sa are you-sa, bestest friend?!?

[pant]

We got-sta get out-sa here-sa!!!

[pant]

In the darkness of the caved tent under ruble of earth, Jek Jek reaches out to his vest, slowly and in pain... he takes out a stimpck and hits his stomach. He barely lifts himself out of the ruble and shouts as load as he can with his last strength "Help... help... take me with you..."

Bip-Bip discovers that most of the Gungans near him are running through the woods towards the water, and he is more than happy to join them.

He continues to drag the old Gungan along behind him as he yells:

Bestest Friend!!! Bestest Friend!!!

[pant]

We run dis-a way!!! To-wahds da watah!!!

[pant]

Must go to da watah!!!

Burned by the blast, EMC rebooted its sensory systems. Seeing the forces the uniformed meatbags brought to bear, the droid walked back to the workshop to inform Suppy of what is happening.

'It is apparent that our location is under attack by humans. It is apparent that they are unsatisfied with the productivity of our immediate neighbours. It is probable that a portion of our neighbours is in the process of fleeing. That is all. I suggest we carry on'.

The Load Lifter looks at EMC, confused as to what its saying, "Droid EMC-313. Protocol number?.... beep, boop, meeep..." The droid twitches briefly before it seems the hidden spy takes control of the low intelligence work droid

"EMC you cant talk openly! heck now we are going to have to wipe this things memory! anyway, you started so lets finish, The Imperials have attacked the Gungan camp? thats crazy! why would they do that?"

In the dim light of distant fires a small band of Gungans slip away into the wilderness of an uncolonised moon. The sounds of blaster fire behind have died down, and now its just the soft footfalls breaking the silence. Seeking shelter the group head for the ocean, diving through low surf to swim out of sight of those who would follow. For half an hour they swim, close the the bottom to avoid detection from above. Eventually a forest of kelp emerges from the gloom, tall tendrils reaching from ocean floor to the gently moving surface. Amongst the roots of the kelp shelter is found, nothing glorious, nothing even remotely civilised... but safe, and for an aquatic species the warm still water is even comfortable.

Upon entering the main body of water, Bip-Bip feels much more at home and relaxed. It’s great to get out of the air and back into the nice, warm water.

He continues to drag Jek-Jek behind him, as he heads for deeper water where a kelp forest might be found.

When he gets to the kelp forest, he finds something very unusual, and using Gungan native underwaterspeech, he says:

Hey-sa! Ebbrey-body!! I found sum-ting!!!

Come here-sa and takes-a lookie lookie!!!

Where-sa is ebbrey-body?!? Am I alone-sa out here-sa?!?

Are we all gonna die alone out here-sa?!?

With that, Bip-Bip starts digging around these strangely straight and smooth edges, to see if maybe there is something he can hide under, or get inside, in order to get away from the bad guys that are surely chasing them.

Subby starts talking, fast, the little droids brain working furiously to formulate a plan "Ok EMC, so the Gungans are now either dead, fleeing or slaves... that puts us in a tight spot. Perhaps it's up to us to help these newly enslaved to have to work less. If this plant is slowed or stopped then there is no work for them to do! Crap this is going to be tough. Ok there are a few key elements to this plant, the Power Generator is one of them, but the boilers, pumps, filters, separators, storage, and packaging systems are all key too. Everything has redundancy of course but we can work around those. We need help too, we need to take over that MemWipe unit to fool to Imps, we need more droid allies but can't keep them if their getting a reboot daily... the Rebellion will have fits when they find out what's happened." He stops for a moment, clearly still thinking about this turn of events.

Night rolls through, the calm weather leaving the kelp motionless in the planet light from the gas giant Onganta above. Through the night the occasional light can be moving above the surface, but nothing enters the water. Restless sleep and worry of what is to come make for a not ideal nights rest, but the feeling of once more being free still buzzes inside... dawn is welcome, food is plentiful, if a little rustic, but nothing else is there to be had.

Bii spent some time gathering mollusks and kelp he knew to be edible even when uncooked. Unfortunately, he was unable to gather enough to feed the band that had chosen to escape into the delpths, but he could feed a few of the meeker lot. When he passed out what he could, he cautioned each of them to be on guard, but still try and get sleep where they could.

While many of the Gungans rested, Bii had chosen to stand guard.

I couldn't sleep even if I tried.

After dawn and breakfast, Bip-Bip starts slowly and methodically digging and clearing the silt away from around this strangely straight and smooth thing that he found in the kelp forest.

Maybe it’s something he can use against the Impies, or maybe it’s something they can use to hide better from the Impies, but he’s bound and determined to take however much time is required to dig it out.

Every once in a while, he will call out to the other Gungans:

Hey!!! Mee-sa found sum-ting under da goodly kelp!!!

You-sa gots-ta come take a lookie lookie!!!

As Bip-Bip slowly works he kicks up snsll clouds of mud, obscuring some areas, but by constantly moving he keeps out of the worst of it. As he moves through the kelp he finds more and more low walls twisting and winding throughout. Eventually Bip comes across a giant fallen column, covered in mollusks, but clearly carved with intricate lettering. The column lies through the largest flat area yet found. At its base, a hole in the carved stone floor which would have once been covered by the monolith.

Bii's long night is playing tricks on him, small motions making him jump, ache in the back of his head. But he circles the camp once more. This forest is quite massive, not perfectly square, but close with sides almost a kilometre long each. As dawn arrives and he hands the food around there is a sense of relief that they escaped the night without discovery... But what now? With almost nothing at their disposal, family now enslaved, and now grossly outnumbered their back is sure up against the wall.

Edited by Richardbuxton

Surprised and delighted at finding the hole, Bip-Bip will announce to all the Gungans in the area what he has found and is going to do about it:

Hey-sa ebbrey-body!!! Mee-sa found a goodly hidey hole!!!

Now you really gots-ta come take a lookie-lookie!!!

After a short delay, he will give them one last announcement:

Mee-sa going in!!!

And then Bip-Bip will swim into the hole.

Within the hole stairs lead downward, spiralling around 5 or 6 times. When you reach the bottom it's become quite dark, so you pause for a while waiting for your eyes to adjust. As you wait on the landing you take in your surroundings, an ancient tapestry attached to the wall, completely covered in little tendrils of green stringy seaweed trying in vain to grow with almost no light. A small alcove is hollowed into one wall, an ancient rusted sword stands on a rack. Who ever once lived here seems to have left a very long time ago.

As you eyes adjust you can see your at one end of a long hallway, it should be completely dark here, but a small amount light seems to be coming from the walls themselves.

Bii Mii Wuu suddenly became alert. Someone had found a something. Hastily, Bii drew the survival knife from the ankle sheeth and formed up behind Bip-Bip, who had just begun to enter the cave or whatever it was.

Good eye. I didn't even see it until you said something.

Bip-Bip reaches into a pocket on his cargo apparel, pulls out a glowrod, and flips it on.

Ow-sa!!!

After being temporarily blinded by the glow rod that was pointed the wrong way when it was turned on, he then flips the glow rod the other direction, and blinks his eyes a few times to try to clear his vision.

A few moments pass, and his sight begins to return. He starts gently waving the glow rod around, in hopes of being able to get a better view of his surroundings.

He then turns around to Bii Mii with the glow rod in hand, to see how close the other Gungan is.

Hey-sa!!! Where are you-sa?!? Is ennybody dere?!?

EMC decides to use the confusion and starts carting off the droids that were irreparably damaged during the bombing run. Not even paying attention to whether the Humans left, it started to engineer what will hopefully become their doom.

The workshop was now filled with parts with which something suitable for the job could be built. A simple mouse droid would be enough to send a message. An upgraded custom model would be more than suitable, reasoned the droid as it scavenged through the mutilated remains.

Bii Mii Wuu moved into Bip-Bip's light. It's just me. You're name is Bip-Bip, right? I recall seeing you around the camps. He surveyed the cavernous room. What is this place, you reckon?
