Bombard Bombardiers IC

Jumping over to Teles now. It's early morning, breakfast has been had and your now walking through the small side door into the Maintenance workshop at one end of the huge Plasma Processing Plant. Long workbenches line the walls down both sides, with a couple more in the middle, tools meticulously cleaned and organised line the walls and fill various tool boxes. At one end there is a huge door that leads out into the main plant rooms, used for bringing large pieces of equipment in for major repairs. Currently a large ML series Load Lifting droid is in for overhaul, servos are being replaced, sensors checked, plating patched up. There are 3 other doors leading out of the Workshop, 2 go to well stocked store rooms while the third leads to a small break room and toilet.

The Gungans coming off night shift are in the process of packing away tools and cleaning down work benches. EMC-313 the plants Repair Droid is in one corner, powered down for the moment, possibly running some self diagnostics or analysing the data from ML-63. In the centre of all this is Goran, the dark skinned Human shop steward, spotless white coat on and clipboard in hand meticulously checking off tools and materials as they are put away. He may not be the best mechanic but he sure runs a tight ship. "Morning boys" he sais as you walk in. "Got a big day ahead, 63 here needs to be up and running for this next shipment to get out, there's a couple of pumps to check on and a pressure sensor to replace out there, get your overalls on and let's get to it." You suit up and Goran overseas you get started on the droid, filling you in on where it's up too. Then he is called out of the workshop to check on a possible fault in the refining machine.

In yet a third location, Jon Britt finds himself in a nice comfy office in the midst of the humans settlement. Paintings line the walls, a pelt from one of the larger local fauna lays on the floor, leather couches and a rich timber desk struggle to fill the enormous room. Having a charming smile and a taste for the finer things it had taken no time for Jon to sweet talk his way into a nice servant job. Running errands, serving food and keeping a barely used house tidy was his days tasks. The master he served? None other than Marq Dorin the corporate manager in charge of the entire operation, at least from a business perspective. A portly man of middle age with a trim blond haircut, and pristine white skin, but arrogant and self serving to the end. Fortunately he responded well to the compliments and praise that Jon had laid on heavily, and now trusts the Gungan more than he probably should.

Jon was expected to keep quiet and do as he was ordered, Gungans are a dim species and below humans after all... So standing at the back of the room listening to this powerful man discuss shipments and schedules was a regular occurrence. Today though was a little different, today Marq was talking to the director of PlasCorp via the holonet, and the Director was not happy. "The Imps only paid half of the agreed amount for the last delivery, H.A.L.F." Yelled the small holographic figure floating above Marq's desk. "We put you there to increase yeld, increase quality but most of all increase profits, you haven't done one of those things. This next shipment had better be up to snuff or there's going to be hell to pay. Do whatever it takes, that operation needs to start making real credits or were going to shut it down. I'm sure you know what that would do to your career. Get to work!" Without waiting for a reply the Director ends the communication.

Marq sits quietly for a while staring out the window, thinking, before speaking to Jon without looking at him "I need lunch Gungan, and a stiff drink, bring me some meats and cheeses and one of those fine Blue Nubian wines."

Bii tightened his lips at the request and looked down at the messenger. He intended to scout for potential co-conspirators today, but fate or the Force seemed to have other plans. "When are they expecting me?"

"Half an hour, at their speeder garage over at the spaceport, they said bring a few others with you to make the most of the day."

On foot it's going to take you nearly half an hour to get to the spaceport, on the other side of the settlement. It crosses your mind that keeping these people happy would be a good idea since they actually looked after the Gungans before the Imperials took control. Better get a move on, or find transport.

"Feesh'?! Not again... I hate them murky waters... I say we stamp our feet an'stand our ground. We know better then dam overseers, eh?" He looks at Bii for reinforcement of his ideals... but his eyes wander to the assembled, looking for signs of support aswell

You know this wont take everyone away from their preferred tasks of Hunting or identifying resources, just a couple will be needed. to get there you can book it on foot, taking what you have on you now. There are animals in the camp, as well as a couple of speeders if your looking to get more done before heading off.

Teles, quickly walked into one of the storerooms andgrabbed a computer, he then hooks it up to the ML-series droid in order to run some diagnostics. As the computer boots up, he presses a button on his universal remote(A tool of kings) to wake EMC2 up.

EMC2 powers up "Good morning sir, another fine day in paradise? This ML droid has sustained some damage from spilt plasma over the last couple of weeks, and its servos where beginning to show signs of wear with it being slow to react. Gondo (a short Gungan tech missing one finger) was partway through the work last night when he was called out to a fault in the pump system. Shall i help you continue the work?"

You run through some diagnostics and checks, it takes about an hour for you to get all the information out and check through it. There are logs of system damage and the droid rerouting its sensor and control paths to compensate. What you successfully notice is that certain parts of the droids sub systems appear to be unused, yet its not attempting to use them when re-routing its controls, its avoiding them for no obvious reason. Your sure if you work at this for a while you could find out more, but its not what your supposed to be doing and Goran may get angry if this droid isn't back up and running before the end of your shift.

To further investigate you need to make a Daunting Computers check with 2 upgrades and a Setback to fully identify this oddity.

If you would like you can attempt a number of things to reduce the difficulty, but the longer this takes the more chance of getting in trouble.

  • A Hard Mechanics check first as you modify some wiring and bypass certain components to isolate the brain for deep analysis. Successfully completing the Mechanics check will reduce the difficulty of the Computers check by 1 to Hard.
  • A Hard Knowledge Education check, with 2 setback due to limited access to information, may shed some light on the situation and downgrade the difficulty of the Computers check (change 1 red to a purple).

As Jek looks around there are a small number of the group of scouts that look frustrated with this request, quite murmurs of opposition, but certainly not the majority. Most of the Gungans spirits have been crushed by the imperials and they are unwilling to present any form of opposition.

Jek Jek notes them in his mind, making sure to remember their prominent features, and waiting for the messenger to answer Bii.

Bii knew holding fast would cause too much trouble. If Nass wants them to disassemble the Empire from the inside, they'll have to be subtle about. "I'll need to gather my things, but I'll be on my way"

The scout then turned to Jek Jek. "What do you think? Fancy some fishing?". He smiled and added a wink.

*sigh* "Guess so... we should take some of the younglings, they need to learn..." pointing to the ones who were seem like up to no good.

The Scouts know who's in charge, the disgruntled ones seem even more "joyous" to be the lucky ones selected. You hand over to another of the senior scouts to run the days tasks then head off, grabbing anything you may need on the way, better get a move on if you want to make it there by the designated time.

Jek Jek reminds the remaining about the caution they need to exercise in the wasteland, warning them not to be foolish and wander too far from the post past sundown.

"You'sa better be watching them ground shakes, don't wanna' get *cough-cough* tagged in them swallow'er pits... You'sa remember 'trainin' past! ..." *cough-cough* he grumbles loudly as he walks around the open-air observation platform leaning on his cane. He walks to the center of camp, to a large and tall arching gate*, that is standing in the camp long before they ever set it up. Jek pops out a communication panel from the side of a pillar.

"Le'me have a minute, kay' Son? I'll rig us up a lift... hope some chem'buzzers are in range..." He scans knowingly the readings on the screen, as he pats his chin hair. After due consideration he twists a few communication nobs, hoping to hop on some air-speeder frequency, but he fails. He gives the arch a nice thump with his fist, clearly frustrated... "We wasted time, its you'sa show now..." he nods to Bii and signs.

(OoC: I'm assuming Bii knows where they're supposed to go. Or the messenger told him)

Bii chuckled. "Don't worry about it. If you don't mind the walk, I think I can get us there quickly enough." He turned to a pair of capable Gungans. "You two, carry Jek Jek's gear and let's head out"

(OoC: I'm still having a hard time picturing the layout of the land. So I'll leave it up to the GM to offer me a check if I need to make one)

You exist out of the Gungans camp onto open plains of dry grass and the occasional tree or bush. In the direction your headed is a small settlement, atop a rise in the land, the place all those Humans call home. Both locations have a view to the North of the sea, an odd one for its lack of any salts. Also you have a clear view of the Processing Plant which is close to the beach for easier access to the water for cooling systems and also the deliveries of Plasma from the mining rigs out in the deep waters.

But neither of those places are your destination right now. Your headed West, over the rise with the settlement on it, then there is a valley to cross to reach the next hill with the space port on it. You can't see it yet but you know there is a very large area cleared of any rocks, trees or loose objects, for shuttles to land on. There is also a very large hanger that houses the transports that move between rigs and the plant., that's where your going. It's a solid half hour walk, if you're up for a run you could cover that distance in half the time, which is about all you have to get to your meeting.

Let's have the 2 of you make Athletics checks, Easy difficulty. Failure and you suffer 3 Strain each, each success reduces the Strain suffered.

You move as quick as possible, the 4 of you covering ground as fast as you had hoped, right up until a squad of 8 Imperial soldiers with a captain "bump" into you as you skirt passt the settlement...

"Where are you off to in such a hurry Gungan?" the captain says with a mean slur to the word Gungan. "Shouldn't you be slaving away in some mine or something?" the rest of the squad standing behind him, less disciplined than Storm Troopers, laugh out loud at this remark. Clearly they think little of you and the captain is enjoying a little power trip.

(OOC: you will be suffering the strain, 1 for Jek, 2 for Bii, once you reach your destination. For now though find a quick way past these ruffians)

Jek Jek spot the troops from far away. He knows this scheme pretty well, he thinks t himself - Man look down on gungan, man scared of weakness, feeble mind they are...

He starts to walk slowly behind, leaning heavily on his cane, and playing the blind old persona, as expected of him around the camps...

*cough cough* Why we'sa stopped? Don't he know we'sa sick? da'plague... quick... I can not see... *cough cough* as he pats his way to the front, clinging to Bii's coat edge, staring up to him, with closed eyes.

Your ruse of a disease has the desired effect, the soldiers back away immediately with a clear intention to not catch any strange illness. This leaves their captain alone in front of you, frustrated but still standing his ground. Unfortunately the captain has a sense this is a lie and is becoming a bit sceptical of what the old cronie has to say

Bii did well to hid his amusement. The old man knew exactly how others saw him and what they expected to see. He seemed to know how to use that to his advantage.

(OoC: Do I need to make a check too?)

Yes please, probably some kind of opposed social check to get this guy out of the way.

(Bii's only really good at rousing his own men, but I'll try and charm.)

Bii nodded to the captain, The Gungan had long since abandoned his accent, as it only served to annoy the human-centric imperial regime. Putting on his best basic, gestured to the outpost. "Your men are well trained, but I'm expected inside. I got a group that wants me to take them out to see for some big-game fishing. I used to wrestle goober fish back on Naboo, you know. Very dangerous."

As you speak the captain steadily grows more interested in what you have to say, by the time you finish he is clearly excited. "Fishing? I love fishing, although back home it was all done in rivers and lakes, dad and I would go out into the forests for entire weekends, camping and fishing and cooking on an open fire...." He goes on an on like this for a few agonising minutes before he finishes up with "I have my next day off in 67 days, I'll pull some strings with the commander and you can take me out then!"

Finally he steps aside and you can press on, delayed but still on your way.
