Imperial regen lists

By Knucklesamwich, in X-Wing

I have a buddy who plays very regularly with me and he nearly always has at least one regen ship. I have faced Corran+R2-D2 dozens and dozens of times and R5-P9(thankfully the nerd doesn't like Poe) makes very frequent appearances. I played him last week and he was able to keep Corran alive until the end so it came down to undamaged Inquisitor+Title+PTL vs Corran+R2-D2. We went round and round for a half hour and Corran kept coming back to life. I threatened to flush R2-D2 down the toilet!

Well that game got me thinking and I stumbled upon something to try. I went through regional results and didn't see one instance of this ship but it worked very well last night. I have flown Omega Leader with comm relay and Juke with some success so I knew the power of comm relay. I decided in our game last night to try omega squadrons with comm relay and PTL. This would give me a regenerating "shield" nearly every turn thanks to the omega's nearly Tie interceptor dial with the all green 2's. I ran two of the Omega squads+CR+PTL along with a tricked out Vader and Night Beast(the best tie fighter!). The Omega's did some heavy lifting! One of them took 6 damage and finished the game with one hull left. The other took several hits and finished with one hull damage. coming in at 4 PS is also a benefit in the current state I think. My buddy flew two aces Corran+Wedge regens along with two z-95's. Vader got most of the attention so I pretty much flew him around running for his life while the Omegas did the most work. With that evade on board I felt very confident about flying a more in your face style and I got tons of range 1 work in. I only lost one ship until the very end when Corran finally downed a second in a last ditch effort that saw him take fire from Vader and an Omega at range 1 which crippled him and he died soon after.

What I learned is that the Generic Tie/FO's are the real deal. I have not given them much of a chance because I always tend to reach for a basic tie that I am used to from years of flying them. The Tie/FO is everything that the generic Tie interceptor wishes it was. PTL really helped with damage and defense since I could take focus and TL many times due to already having an evade saved with CR, this allowed me to reroll using TL and save my focus for defense. I would say if you have 23 spare points then this is a ship that sits in a similar place to the basic Tie Advanced+Accuracy corrector and might be a bit better.

How does an Omega Squad Tie/fo take 6 damage and finish with one hull?

They only have 3 hull and 1 shield to start.

I guess you're counting the hits cancelled by evades as "damage."

Yes, I referring to that as a pseudo shield since rebels are the only ones who get regen abilities.

Good report. Yes imo Comm relay is underestimated. But do not take it on every ship. PTL alone saves you a lot since you can take focus and evade at once.

One of the shop owners at my local store run's something simialar with TIE F/O's and comm relay... it's a very effective combo.

PTL works in a similar fashion yes but the flexibility to bank that evade for later saves you from so many stress tokens. I found that I was much more able to use the red loops or K-turn since I had a banked evade.
