Star Wars + Top Gun

By R22, in X-Wing

Rogue One could have been top gun in space. It's not. :(

Maybe Rogue Two, there's always hope.

Best enjoyed with the sound down low. Way low.

That's what I call a Target-Rich Environment !!

Airspeeders in space? Don't forget that Rogues as spacefighters is Legends only.

Came here in hopes of Maverick pilot card and Goose crew. I am disappoint.

Star Wars: Imperial Aces - A true motivational story.

The film follows a up and coming TIE S/F ace and his gunner who are at the start of the film based on a Gozanti carrier patrolling the outer rim border. One of a squadron of TIE S/F pilots, call sign Obsidian Squadron.

Whilst on a standard flight op, call sign Night Beast (our protagonist) and his gunner, Gundark, encountered a highly modified Khiraxz fighter skimming the boarder. Their wingman, Backstabber and Curse, radioed back to Rear Admiral Chiraneau for permission to engage. . however, Imperial doctrine dictates that they must not fire unless fired upon. Knowing that they cannot engage lethally, they decided to harass the fighter and have some fun. . (cue epic and rather comical flying by the imperials). However, the Khiraxz fighter managed to target lock Stabber/Curse through a combination of an illegal SLAM unit and glitterstims, causing Stabber to get spooked and stressed out. . .

Furious at the lack of Imperial discipline shown by all pilots involved, Stabber/Curse are sent back for re-indoctrination and training, forcing RAC to put forward Beast and Gundark for the new Phantom program being held on Sullust despite his best judgement and Beast's reputation for high speed passes on four Gladiator Class control towers and a certain Countess. . .

Shortly after arriving at Sullust, Gundark and Beast are met by the finest pilots the Imperial Navy has to offer. Beast knew most of them, Mauler Mithrel and Scourge, Wamba and Youngster as well as the leader of Omega Squadron herself. However, Beast was more interested in two individuals that no one knew about, two people that were simply known as "Whisper" and "Echo". . .

The training at Sullust was being overseen by Soontir Fel, arguably the greatest Imperial Navy pilot to have ever lived. Famous for his skills inside a TIE Interceptor and leader of the 181st Squadron, the Imperial Navy decided that he should be the one to lead this program in the hopes that his extreme focus when under stress and his ruthless determination to survive dispute all odds will rub off on the rest.

Soontir however was not the only training instructor, a lady of exceptional authority, short black hair and often referred to as the best looking in a TIE flight suit, code name "Howlrunner" was also on hand to guide the team.

Everyone was there to begin training in the new TIE Phantom prototype. . only the best would make it into Shadow Squadron. The pilots would be tested in a series of top secret training exercises and aerial combat. They would be pushed to the limits of their skills, made to feel the adrenaline rush of high speed combat and taught how to outmanoeuvre their opponents whilst staying on target. .

The film.......

Oh, if only Disney would make it [and whoever owns the rights to TG would let them!]

Not going to be happy until I get a Maverick pilot card with the ability "After revealing dial, if not stressed, you may execute a white stop, and gain a stress and target lock".

Also a Goose crew card that reads "You may discard this card to inflict decades of psychological damage to the pilot, then gain 10 stress.".

No! You can be my wingman!

Next question, which actors would play who?

Going on the thing I wrote earlier:

Night Beast:
Dark Curse

Backstabber

Winged Gundark
Soontir Fel
Rear Admiral
Howlrunner

"Whisper"
"Echo"

We also need someone to get coffee spilled on them and demand that he wants arses. . . guessing this could be Admiral Thawn?

Hmmm...do any of them play piano...or sing "...lost that loving feeling" ???

EDIT: and who's "Jester" ???

Jester, I was thinking would be "Fel's Wrath" but then I also like the idea of him being Lt. Lorrir and have him do some silly barrel antics in the Phantom.

"Fel's dead !" ...yeah, that works!

Oh yeah, and we all remember the scene where Mav and Goose try to steal the show and end up in a flat spin? Well I reckon that would be due to a dangerous decloak.

So "Whisper" is right on Lt. Lorrir's six, cloaked, just waiting for the LT to make a mistake in his Interceptor so he can decloak and go for the kill but LT is seriously pushing the limit. Our heroes get impatient and order "Whisper" to disengage and let them go for the kill shot.

Beast gets over confident and goes for a decloak but materialises further forward then he thought and clips the tail end of "Whisper", this causes the particle accelerator to malfunction, sending them into a flat spin, heading right into a debris field (going forward due to no gravity), Beast desperately tries to get the ship to straighten out but the ship keeps fading into and out of cloak, making control of the ship near impossible, they manage to eject moments before the ship collides with the wreckage of an old E wing. The particle drive explodes, causing debris to fly in all directions, some narrowly missing him, however Gundark isn't so lucky and part of the phantom punctures his suit. Beast, floating aimlessly in the dark void of space, helplessly watches the oxygen vent from his best friends flight suit and drift off into the darkness. . . .

Demoralised and holding himself accountable, Beast hangs up his flight suit, places his Night Beast dog tags on his locker. . Soontir Fel is seen standing by the door, watching. Beast slams the locker shut and walks away as Soontir calls out to him:

"Beast. . . . +sighs+ . . Roy. . . you done all you could, it wasn't your fault. . . "

Beast walks out.

"...part of the phantom punctures his suit. Beast, floating aimlessly in the dark void of space, helplessly watches the oxygen vent from his best friends flight suit and drift off into the darkness. . . ."

If you aren't a scriptwriter, have you ever wondered if you got the wrong job ???

Fun reading

I reckon TC would be up for playing Soontir...after all, how many rumours have there been about him reprising the Mav role, but as the aged, senior instructor, ;)

...and VK as Fel, :) [kinda see him as getting to look like Michael Ironside, these days!]
