Heavy Chaingun

By Darth Meanie, in X-Wing

The poor Imps get no glory from the TLTs, since current no ship sports a turret. What if. . .

Heavy Chaingun

Cannon

Range 1

2 Attack

All hits are assigned to the Hull HP. All crits rolled are converted to normal hits.

Isn't that just a weaker version of the Auroblaster or Heavy Laser Cannon?

Imperials don't have turret ships because their design ethos is centered around fast, flanking maneuvers, jousting, and arc-dodging. Turrets don't sit in that design space well. I think you'd be hard pressed to find an Imperial player who really cares all that much about not having a TLT list. There aren't even that many cannon carriers, really.

And a cheap cannon carrier.

That is broken. It's AB but it ignores shields and converts crits so now you're 4/8 instead of 3/8. Nope.

Not arguing FOR turrets, which is why it would be a cannon.

Yes, but AB is defensive only and HLC is 7 points.

I guess one thing is that it evens out the Imps don't get shields idea. Wouldn't the Imps come up with a counter to shields if their foes all had them?

This isn't Beast Wars, keep Rhinox's Guns o' Doom outta this.

There is the Tie Aggressor that could fill this gap.

I'm an imperial player and would love to have a turret ship.

And a cheap cannon carrier.

The Imperials have the VT-49 as a turret and the second cheapest cannon carrier in the game. When you consider that the cheapest is the Scyk, they have the cheapest viable cannon carrier in the game.

Space Cows to the rescue! Didn't know they are considered more viable than Scyks outside of Palpmobile and doomshuttle. Buzz saw hasn't been seen in a long time.

And it's hard to pass up a 17 or 20 point Tractor Beam that has 1 speed turns. Poor Scyk. Nobody loves you.

I would consider Y-wings to be the 'cheapest viable cannon carriers' today, even if it's technically a turret locked into the forward position.

Look I know DooM just came out and it's great but...

This one?

Ok wrong game :P

Look I know DooM just came out and it's great but...

Hey I hear that here's this great flight sim called X-wing, you get to fly all the rebel ships! And they are talking about doing a TIE Fighter game for the Imperial ships

Sorry, flashed back to 1993 again.

Wait, all the Imperial ships? Seriously? Are they going to have the Gunboat?!

Sorry, flashed forward to the still arduous wait for the gunboat.
