Questions about some cards from Punishing One and Mist Hunter expansions

By Iceeagle85, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I got some questions:

Can Dengar (pilot) only attack attakers in his printed on front arc or all around because of his turret.

How does Tel Trevura work, do you discard all his damage once he is destroyed and deal him 4 new face down damage cards or is this wrong?

Is the Punishing one tilte worth it? 12 pionts for one more point of firepower seems expensive, i think it only makes sense when coupled with ordnance and Guidance Chip, am i right?

Can 4-Lom give his stress to enemy ships?

And about the cloaking device, can i only decloak once i roll a focus or can i decloak voluntarily? And when i roll a focus i can either decloak normally and do a 2 barrel roll or go 2 forward or stay where i am and discard the cloaking device.

Is cloaking a free action or not?

He can attack targets out of his arc with his primary weapon, but his pilot ability only lets him counterattack targets that are in his arc.

Yes, after receiving enough damage to destroy him, you discard all his damage cards (including any overkill), and then deal four new facedown damage cards.

Whether it's worth it or not is up to you, but it absolutely doesn't help ordnance (it only applies to his primary weapon).

Yes.

You can also decloak at the normal time (after dials are placed, after Intelligence Agent, before the first dial is revealed).

And when i roll a focus i can either decloak normally and do a 2 barrel roll or go 2 forward or stay where i am and discard the cloaking device.

No, when you roll a focus the cloaking device (and your cloak token) are going away no matter what. The choice is whether you lose your cloak token without moving, or whether you go ahead and decloak. If all your decloak positions are blocked, you can't decloak, but you still wind up no longer being cloaked.

Is cloaking a free action or not?

The Cloaking Device card has an Action: header action, which uses your normal Perform Action action for the round. In the course of executing that action, you will perform a free Cloak action.

Thanks for the answers.

I know it only applies to the primary weapon but Guidance Chip allows you to change one die result to a hit or a crit if you have a primary weapon value of 3 or higher and with the Punishing One tilte the primary weapone value is 3, that is way i said it's more useful when you're using Punishing One with ordnance and a Guidance Chip.

Oh, I see what you mean now. And sure, if that's a thing you want to try out, go ahead, but Guidance Chips is still pretty great when your primary attack value is only two. Is the difference between a [boom] and a [kaboom] on maybe two shots worth 12 points?

Well that was the first synergy that sprang to my mind after reading the card and becuase i think 12 points for one die more on the attack is pretty expensive i was thinking what else could benefit from it and Gudiance Chip was the most obvious. I you want it even more expensive you could use Dengar + Punishing One + Guidance Chip + 1 or 2 ordnance and try to position him in a way that your attacker is in your front arc so you can shoot twice with 3 dice and turr dice on your ordnance into crits, coudl of course be too expensive but will surely be fun.

Nevertheless Punishing One is still rather expensive.

P1 title is absolutely worth it for Dengar, by the way. 3 dice is a huge thing, and you cannot get enough missiles to regularly use with his pilot ability.
