Sorry if this has been posted but a local shop posted on Facebook the wave 3 will arrive in July according to an ffg solicitation they received
Wave 3 in july
Which will make the GenCon tourney VERY interesting.
So there will be a HUGE difference between Regional fleets and Nationals/Worlds fleets. I mean, once they're released the little flotillas are legal, right?

Yep, once the FFG homepage announces them as released they would be legal.
Psyched!

Correct. They are legal in the United States upon Release.
Calgary's Regional Tournament is on the 30th of July. I've already asked Lion Rampant if they would be legal for Canada when they are released here, or wether there is a moratorium on them until the Regional Season is over, since we are the Last Regional in the world...

That could be a HUGE switch up for you. . . How many will take them i wonder? Most likely just people who have experience with them on Vassal. . .

Vassal?
I printed the Vassal images and stuck them on spare Corvette and raider bases...

Vassalites won't be the only people with experience playing with them. My (mostly) unused Nebs make a nice proxy, esp since the arcs look fairly similar and I won't be having any dice to shoot with anyway, unless they happen to survive long enough to get squadron shots.
Mostly because I'm pretty sure the only ones of us here in Calgary who routinely play on the tabletop AND Vassal are....
... Well, I was going to say Me and Skycake... But really. Its just Skycake.
Maybe a couple of the out-of-towners Play on Vassal, but they're not really involved on the Forums, so I couldn't matchup players-to-names and such to guess.
Or, you could just use the KDY proxy cards to practice...

Just saying.
Edited by cynanbloodbaneLike I said, the only "obstacle" was the Base and its Arc Markings. Which I solved with a few bucks at Staples because I had nothing better to do...
So yeah. "Practice" has happened, but we're also trying to go easy with it, just in case they're not released beforehand, and we're stuck on having to work with what we have now ![]()
I will be super stoked if this actually happens in July. Leaves plenty of room for a second release around the holidays, and gives us a nice cheap mix up to the meta.
In a perfect world:
"FLOTILLAS AWAY! Come on everybody! Let's load up the truck and head to Calgary! WE ARE DOING THIS McMANN STYLE!"
WE ARE DOING THIS McMANN STYLE!"
He already got permission from his wife to Pillage a neighboring country, too ![]()

Vassal is sweet, if only FFG would port their tabletop games to pc, phone, or tablet apps...and I'm not sure it would cut into plastic sales, in fact might enhance them by reaching a wider audience... ah well, one can dream...
I dig it!
I Doubt that the new wave will be legal for world's.
I Doubt it because having played x-wing for a while and if I'm recalling correctly there was a time when a wave dropped in the middle of tournament season(wave 7?)and was banned at world's a month later or so...
I could be wrong but I also have develoved a pessimistic attitude about the release date and expect it to drop this Christmas...

Sydney also has a regional on 30 July - but timezones, yes. Last in the world.
In theory, one could play in Sydney, jump a direct flight to Canada, and play in the last two Wave two regionals on the same day.... in theory!
Good news. the IA Bespin release just went straight to shipping without ever being listed as 'on the boat' so maybe expect the same thing for Wave 3?

Actually, its not Feasable. And the reason why is layovers.
There is no direct from Sydney to Calgary. They stop in Vancouver, Los Angeles, or San Francisco (or Minneanapolis, if you fly the OTHER way around the world, which takes longer)...
If any of those locations lay you over longer than 60 minutes. You spend too much time flying to get to the places on time to play, because the flight itself varies between 17 hours (as direct as possible) to 22 hours (lazy pilot).
Then you phone ahead and use a first round bye.... sheesh! Do I have to think of everything?

Given the type of models and plastic used is possible that they are produced either in the USA or bulk shipped for packaging here. With less than ten unpainted one-piece minis in the new wave, the labor intensive stuff that makes China so appealing may not have been as big of a factor as it is for X-Wing and Armada.
