Gathering Regionals Data - Your help is

By shmitty, in Star Wars: Armada

To everyone going to a Regional event this weekend,

Please grab some data for me!

Things that are good to know:

  • Attendance with a breakdown between Rebels/Imperials
  • Order of finish and fleet lists
  • If you can't get everything, get fleet lists for the Winner, Top 4, or Top 8
  • Tournament Points scored by the winner

Really, I appreciate anything you can share, but the more there is the better.

Brother I am loving your efforts in this!! I actually can't believe FFG does not have something like this already setup. you think at the very least it would help them with game development.

Wish we had indy data. Still nothing but a basic who won and generic top 4 lists

I didn't ever see a winner for Indy. Where was that?

We sort of know the winner for Boston, but there was found to be an issue with that fleet being illegal, so I don't want to include it.

I confused the 50 fleet tourney with regionals. Only 1 person claiming 10th place has posted anything about thier list.

"The game is dying"

I kid!!!

I think the biggest hurdle is if you aren't part of the people running it, you're typically mentally beat and if you arn't local you just want to clean up and start the ride home.

That and I'm pretty sure most TO's arn't collecting and keeping the fleet sheets. So standings probably are the easiest data to get, but past that you need to actively engage the organizer for that data.

I'll be grabbing the Denver, CO info and posting it Monday morning (assuming I'm too exhausted Sunday!) :P

Hopefully going to try and do an AAR as well.

I'm going to try gathering all the data I can tomorrow.

You know i got you shmitty. Inc info when I get back.

I was at Indy and I wish I had gathered more information. Winner was an Imperial fleet - double Gladiator heal list?. At least two MSU Demo fleets, Mike McMann and one other. Pretty even split between Imperials and Rebels. If I recall correctly 11 players took first round byes - 9-1 bye based on the software.

For whatever its worth, given that I finished 18th, my fleet was:

CR90 Corvette A (44 points)

- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)

CR90 Corvette A (44 points)

- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)

CR90 Corvette B (39 points)

- SW 7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points)

[ flagship ] MC80 Assault Cruiser (114 points)

- General Rieekan ( 30 points)

- Defiance ( 5 points)

- Raymus Antilles ( 7 points)

- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)

- XI7 Turbolasers ( 6 points)

- Leading Shots ( 4 points)

1 Wedge Antilles ( 19 points)

4 A-Wing Squadrons ( 44 points)

1 "Dutch" Vander ( 16 points)

All shiftiness aside (and I don't mean to say the guy meant to do it) we are still "only" talking about 7 points over so I think you can count that Cambridge, MA list as first place. It helps contribute to the point I want to make on the next show, too, so I'm totally advocating for calling it the winner. Selfish. No matter what you decide the 3 VSD "prisoner's dilemma" list has to be considered a current major player.

i think the easiest thing to do is (with the permission of the player) is take a picture of each fleet sheet near the end of the day. That way you can just compile it once you are home.

The 3 VSD list was second. I've been going back-and-forth on whether to list that fleet or the illegal fleet as the winner.

Wait, there was an illegal fleet?!

Over is over. This is not 40k where you can fudge a few points and be all good. The game has a mechanic for your squadron points to be limited on the size of your fleet. so if he was 7 points over he could get another 2 points in squadrons (seems like a little but how many people have ended their squadron builds with 127 points? Where they wish for 2 extra points for that extra bomber?). Not only that but that is an Intel Officer, and both clon and I can tell you that those are worth their points many times over. Another thing that has to get considered is what happens if his fleet gets tabled? His opponent only gets the 400 points. That is the rules. He/she wouldn't get that extra 7 points.

You can make all the points you want on this one DT but it is still an illegal list.

The Boston 'winner' has vacated his tournament win. The AAR here brought to his attention that his list was invalid.

As far as I know the 2ND place finisher should have been given the trophy and the rewards that come with it. Unless the organizer/FFG put down a different ruling.

He made a mistake when he tweaked his fleet and did not catch it. I'm glad he admitted fault and did the right thing.

I've played against him several times. He's a fierce competitor and I know he took the mistake very personally.

I mean it's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. If I didn't know him from my trips for organized play I'd be as skeptical as you.

I agree. I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt on it being an honest mistake, but an illegal list is an illegal list. DQ.

The player in question did say he was going to e-mail the TO. I'm not planning on attending Nationals (unless someone wants to hit me up with some hotel room and flight money. . .eh? Eh?), and I told him to keep the trophy because I don't want to win it by DQ after the fact.

The TO was going to send the whole thing to FFG just so they're aware and to get clarification on similar issues moving forward, but I don't see much coming out of it.

And not sure how you want to handle the data. I can let you know what gets ultimately decided. I also have the full tournament lists from the TO, so let me know where you want me to send them.
