Skirmish Version

You beat me to it (although I swear your thread wasn't showing up when I started on mine).

I really like Zillo Technique. It's a good, flexible way to spend 1 point. Intelligence leak is crazy, though.

I'm so glad they are actually setting the cost of unique characters correctly now. All the early stuff is way over costed.

Yeah Zillo technique is cool. Helps out high-HP figures with black dice that really suffer from high pierce values. Between that and the Advanced Com Systems, maybe a Vader, Weiss, Tank or RGC with elite officers will be viable? Might need some more support from other skirmish upgrades and command cards, but we'll see.

Zillo technique will help against Luke's saber strike.

Also if anyone didn't know, the Zillo was a giant beast from Malastare whose hide/plating/whatever was virtually impenetrable.

I don't think the old stuff in general was overcosted, f.e. Luke is very viable, but all figures with two defense dice - Vader, Chewbacca, RGC, and Weiss - don't work that well in the Skirmish Format because most matches only go 4 rounds, not enough time to unfold the benefits of high hp+high defense dice, so it's a wasted ability. But then again, Vader was playable before the nerf, and I think that shows that if a unit is playable in a competitive environment, it's not enough to just look at the value of the card itself. IA has a lcg element, and command card synergy will become more and more important with time. Vaders has more problems than just his point cost, he is also the only Imperial force user right now, so building a Command Card Deck with Focus on a Force User is a bad idea, and most leader cards cost an action, which is to expensive to do with Vader.

Some of the new Figures and Cards might make old ones more viable. I think Diala will see more play because Davith will encourage Force User Lists, And Lando's Point Cost fit's exactly into the Smuggler's Deathball .

I feel like Imperial Assault is pulling me away from X-Wing....

Good thing I play both games, there's always news to be excited about.

Really like the Interrogate ability, good counter to Leia and her card cycling if I remember her skirmish stuff right.

I knew it sounded familiar! It's that giant lizard creature with the noodly arms!

This is the expansion, I have been most pumped for, but this Blaise guy just doesn't interest me. First the get off my lawn pose, and then the disappointing campaign version. :(

Why do you find him disappointing? I'm actually more excited about playing him in Campaign rather that in Skirmish. Threat generation abilities are pure gold, and an out-of-sequence deployment is crazy good even before the discount. With that second discount from Military Might, you are suddenly putting down entire Stormtrooper squads for 4 threat. With the extra threat, if you can protect him long enough, you are dropping in a fresh group every round even at Threat Level 3.

surge to add a threat doesn't sound fun? He's rolling 2 yellows so he's going to have surges all the time, that's a pretty consistent threat income to reinforce your troopers.

Looks great, FFG's been absolutely nailing it with these last few announcements.

What?? How is he disappointing? Deploy a group anytime I want (say on a critical turn after heroes have all activated) with a discount for troopers and spies? Increase the threat every time I shoot (with 3 dice and decent surge abilities no less)? All that for just 6 points?? Yes please!! I do wish his agenda cards had at least one card that want discarded, but oh well.

The Bespin expansion is going to be the first time that I play the Rebels and my wife plays the Imperials. And now I have to face THIS guy?!?!!?

Curious, can you play Bespin without owning Hoth? I am considering skipping an expansion here to get in on Bespin. Hoth seems so boring to me, character wise anyway. Could you play Hoth without TS?

Geez, poor Felswrath. Says he's less than impressed and immediately jumped on by three nerds at once (myself included). Well at least he'll get to fire back.

Every expansion is self-contained and requires only the base game components to play.

You could optionally use things from Twin Shadows in Hoth (heroes, items, side missions, etc.) but there was nothing like map tiles that would have made buying one necessary to play the other. I suspect it will be the same with Bespin - everything you need to play is contained within the expansion and the core set.

Absolutely you can.

Unless they changed things up, so far none of the expansions are dependent upon other expansions or ally/villain packs.

However, the maps in ally/villain packs are often dependent upon certain expansions.

He asked for it. It's a new IA expansion, he's supposed to be excited, dammit! I will MAKE him excited!

Now felswrath, how many lights are there?

I can see where it could be useful, but he just doesn't appeal to me! Green yellow yellow means he'll have terrible range, and the ability to summon troops doesn't have the sense of an interogator. I would have been much happier if we had this guy reskinned as Baron Administrator Blaise. That would have made sense, and would have much better warranted the pose!

Well I can't disagree about the pose. It looks like he's shaking his fist after losing, which is very encouraging :-)

Anyway, these command cards are great. Real potential for shenanigans there. Very appropriate. Being able to see what your opponent had in hand will be a great ability
