This Rebel fleet isn't subtle

Gunnery Team

CR-90a

TRC

Jaina's Light

CR-90a

TRC

Ackbar

4x B-Wings

4x A-Wings

Long range firepower from the ships to force my opponent to move into range of the B-wings. No tricks, no gimmicks, just a lot of firepower.

Fire Lanes

Superior Positions

Most Wanted??

I guess I could drop a Gunnery Team and take the Advanced Gunnery objective. What could I spend those 8 points on?

The Smartass answer is Bomber Command...

But that would, of course, neccessitate switching out a TRC90 for Flotillas in the first place.

Hence Smartass. As in, Not Useful.

Smartass, but something that absolutely will be done once I have that option.

What are the awings for? Just add more B's...,

Switch for flight controllers on one?

I really like the idea, actually. Only thing I see you wanting is an intel platform, since you don't have the greatest squadron-killing ability. The A-wings will let you stiff-arm to a degree, but I'd expect your B-wings to spend a lot of time tied up. Consider either swapping out an A-wing for a HWK or finding room for a Flight Controllers?

I only own 4 B-Wings? and trying to keep the numbers up.

That's not a bad idea. If I decide to drop the Gunnery Team I will try that.

Intel could be really useful and probably worth fitting in. I'd also figured on leaving the B-Wings near my ships. Then the Assault Frigates can use their Gunnery Teams to fire on squadrons and help the B-Wings out.

Which isn't a bad approach. I guess what I see happening is the enemy fighter screen jumping into range on the same turn that their torpedo ships or whatever do, stiff-arming your B-wings right when you need them and then woop-woop-wooping off into the sunset. I know that's how I'd approach this with an MC30-centric fleet, anyway.

That said, your A-wings should have the reach to prevent that reasonably well against a token fighter screen anyway, so... eh. Give it a try and let us know how it went! I like this idea a lot.

I have played this list on vassal with 8 B wings.

All well and good tying up the squads for that crucial turn, but you still have to weather an ackbar assault.... thats the beauty of the list.

Yep, between the 2x Whales, the TRCR90s, and the B's it has multiple threats that must be accounted for. Hopefully enough pressure to force your opponent into a mistake.

Wow...a list I can run because I own enough components!

That does look sharp.

I've run basically this except with X wings and Y wings a few times, it works pretty well. I like Jaina's Light on Ackbar's ship because it lets him hide behind ships and obstacles while still getting your shots. I'd also go with Opening Salvo for your red objective, 4 ships is definitely enough to make it worthwhile imo.

I generally don't like opening salvo because it almost ensures that the game will be close points wise...

In a just need to win setting? Sure. In a win big our go home setting? Not quite as much.

So I took this basic fleet to the Tacoma Regional. I swapped out the squadrons for 6x YT-2400s and it did really well. I made a couple of errors, but it definitely forced my opponent to react to what I was doing.

I did spend some time perfecting the play on an ackbar fleet with two AFs and CR90s, I found the b wings to be to slow for how this list plays, you need to have the option to speed up you AFs to stop someone crossing your Ts and ripping you apart, that means you need fighters that can keep up. I dropped Bwings for x wings, Ywings and Jan. I be always found b wings seem to be better with lists that point strait at the enemy ( yavaris, new bs) or are slower played ( MC80).

Of your three proposed lists, I would rate the first or third as best. The MC80 just changes the flight patterns too much I feel...it's a list that wants to duck and dodge but then would be dragged down by a speed 2 anchor. I worry that the Tantive list locks you into a predictable activation order.

I wouldn't use B-wings for the same reasons jondavies72 points out. Bad matchup. What about replacing the B's with A's? Less oomph but more agility.

Or...one of each? Doing that (each with gunnery teams and TRC), and dropping to 3 YT-2400's + 3 A-wings, gives you 10 points to play with. Get Admonition or Lando with that. Spend it on bid....whatever you like.

Good points on the B-Wings. They really aren't a fit for what I want to do. I will give the 1st and 3rd lists a go and report back.
