PC version?

By Borsook, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Is there going to be one? And when?

I find the fact that there is only a mobile version and no word of PC version hugely disappointing.

I guess you just have to look at the world within which we currently live ...

PCs are pretty much on the way out, with mobile devices and tablets being the current trend. So, FFG developing for those platforms certainly makes sense. Further, it is far easier to have a tablet at the table while playing than a PC.

Having said the above, since it will be released for Steam, you will be able to utilize it on a PC, it simply won't be a true Windows or Mac version.

..and when will it be released on steam?

..and when will it be released on steam?

There has not yet been an official date announced, only that it is coming.

PCs are not on the way out. Not in any way, shape, or form. Can you imagine doing excel spreadsheets on a tablet or phone without a physical keyboard and mouse? Sure, games and apps like this are more accessible by tablet, but a desktop will (for the foreseeable future) be around for other games or work software.

Anyways - they already announced that it will be released on Steam, so just wait for it.

So glad you said it. "PCs are pretty much in the way out." Is almost as inaccurate as a statement can be.

I think it's quite accurate that the classical and typical Desktop PC is in decline for the last ~5 years. Yet labtops have pretty much taken it's spot and they count as PCs (plattform wise) as well, so imo the PC plattform is indeed growing.

Seeing how much text is displayed on the app and how much stuff is going on that adds to the theme of the game, I think I will wait for the release for PC plattforms.

PC decline is its own topic. I still enjoy building desktop PCs rather than dumping a bunch of money into a high end laptop which is harder to customize. In any case, like was said, the form factor isn't what's important for the app, it's the platform. I'm very much looking forward to the steam version.

Install BlueStacks or another Windows Android-Emu and then download the Road to Legend apk file.

Works great on windows and with higher resolution..........and kills the time until PC Version is out

The initial question was "when is the pc version out", not if PC is "inferior" to other platforms... try to answer the question, not speculate about what YOU think the world is.

Windows PCs and Windows tablets run with the same OS => which makes the steam version a tablet version as well. I play many games on my windows tablet, and obviously the steam version will be "touch friendly". Think twice before speaking and open your eyes onto the real world...

XCOM the board game has also a steam version designed for tablets.

That said I am disappointed that there is no news of the steam version. I'll wait !

Cool thx for the tip.

Can you run this program in full-screen-mode? Does the program run smooth on your PC (that has what specs)?

I'm kind of tempted, but I think I will wait for the steam version, because I'm planning to get it in the end for all in app-purchases and ease of use when playing at friends' flats. Also I feel more comfortable in paying money to steam than to apple, microsoft or amazon.

I looked at those programs, but most comments on them either say they slow down your P.C. or just annoying to uninstall. So I will wait for the Steam version.

From myside i cant say it slows down my laptop or pc - and i only start BlueStacks when i need an app on my windows plattform, to work with comfort (mouse and real keyboard)

And until the PC version is released its an amazing tool to see how RTL works....

Here are the steps you need to install it on your windows

1) Install BlueStacks
http://www.bluestacks.com

2) visit
https://apkpure.com/

2a) Enter in search box
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fantasyfli...

dont know why the link is cut - so the end of the link is....
details?id=com.fantasyflightgames.rtl

2b) then Download APK (73.2 MB)

3) Install apk in BlueStack

4) Enjoy RTL on your windows machine

Glad to know a Steam version is in the works as I don't own any device that runs iOS or Android.

Thanks for that info, Impish1234. I may look at an emulator as a stopgap for the time being.

Yea, I'm using it too. I however won't be buying content for mobile, since I don't plan on running through my tablets battery life that fast.

Yes, they have said multiple times that it is coming to PC via Steam very soon.

Where you have got "no word of PC version" from I've no idea. Its been all over this forum, twitter, instagram, facebook, reddit, BGG and the FFG news page since March.

Try to play Witcher 3 on a tablet or mobile.

I don't think I get your point?

What has playing Wither 3 on a tablet or mobile to do with playing the RtL App?

I don't think it's that resource consuming or complicated to run on a "smaller" device.

(or did I miss something obvious?)

It would have been nice had FFG just release all versions at the same time instead of making those without slick mobile devices feel left out. :(

If you use steam in-home streaming you can have your gaming desktop stream to a weak laptop over your network and play remotely. It actually works really good, I was able to play the new doom game on my win 8 laptop and it ran solid.

It is on steam now, finally :)

Niiiiiice :)
