If you could have 1(one) Star Wars themed video/board game, what would it be?

By Razgriz25thinf, in X-Wing Off-Topic

All in the title. If you could have one Star Wars themed game of any genre, time period, whatever you want, whether it's something that already exists, never existed, or just a sequel for something, what would it be? Try to think outside the box.

We all know and belove the X-Wing simulators, my personal favorite being X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter. But lately, i've been playing a lot of flight sims, particularly DCS World, and now i really, really want a Star Wars DCS World. Every button in an X-Wing cockpit does something, and the take-off sequence is 10 minutes long; just like in DCS.

Barring that i just want an X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter remake.

Video? A remake of TIE Fighter, for the story lines as well as the ships.

Board, Rebellion will tide me over nicely.

Videogame. A version of Elite: Dangerous, but set in the Star Wars universe.

Trade, smuggle or fight your way to the top. Start off with a lowly Z-95, upgrade your ship (and it's engines, shields, armour and armament). Trade legal goods, following the profit between systems, fighting off pirates and the criminal underworld. Or join the criminal underworld, smuggling contraband past Imperial customs patrols or terrorizing cargo convoys. Become a bounty hunter, chasing pursuing targets through hyperspace and around the galaxy in search of the big score. Become an explorer, discovering new systems, new resources and staking claims.

Join the Academy, and become a pilot for the Imperial Navy. Or seek out the Rebellion and wage war against the Emperor's tyrannical regime.

Become embroiled in bitter rivalries with fellow pilots and privateers, battle in atmosphere and deep space, take part in skirmishes and massive space battles.

This needs to be a thing. Why isn't this a thing already? :(

Because the last time they tried it, it didn't work.

Also, a game like that should never, ever, add the Force for players.

X-Wing: Alliance-style game set in the years between episode 7 and 8.

I want a remake of X-wing vs. Tie Fighter for Xbox. Multi player mode w/ missions and such. It could be done really well these days.

I would love to see a Space MMO set in the Star Wars Universe. Imagine EVE Online, but Star Wars. Work as a smuggler transporting goods across the galaxy. Join the rebellion or attend the Imperial Academy. Do mission to earn money or equipment, and with the Rebellion and Empire gain rank. Upgrade and acquire new ships, etc.

If this ever happened I would love to have a smuggler transport ship and move goods, but have x-wings or something in the cargo hold that we could deploy and defend our cargo or attack . SURPRISE!!!

Don't they have that already? KotOR?

I'd like a true Battlefront 3. With command posts and classes, not the fun-but-not-battlefront shooter we got instead.

Star Wars Mass Effect (a good RPG that isn't an MMO)

Dark Forces with Battlefront quality graphics, sounds, engine, etc.

I think a Fallout style RPG ala Star Wars would be awesome. If you're a character on the outer-rim, you're most likely scavenging and scrounging. Heck, you might even run some colonists to an unoccupied moon to start a settlement.

The Star Wars universe Real-IT full immersion simulator that comes out in 2216: Its superior to VR and let's you play as any character in any SW movie, including the XXX versions. ;)

now for real games: I like Imperial assault. All I really need is a Rancor. (in brown plastic)

Hmmmm... Any game?

Well... We've played as Jedi in both RPG and Arena settings, Stormtrooper/Rebel FPS games a-plenty, several RTS games with ground and fleet combat, and a bounty hunting platformer or two. So what hasn't been done already? I think the mega-cities lend themselves well to games:

SimCity: Coruscant Edition, where the vertical nature of the city requires you to build structures and lane sky-ways in the X, Y, and Z axis?

Nar Shadda: City of Gangsters, a TBT with economic elements where you take a back alley glitterstim refining operation and expand through republic and later imperial police forces and rival operations into weapons, slavery, and starship smuggling all while building your crew of swoop gangers, thieves, and combat droids.

and my favorite idea... ^_^

Jedi: Republic Investigator, Action-Adventure and Investigative Drama in the style of Arkham Asylum and Beyond: Two Souls, with a big dose of Heavy Rain.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the story you are about to see is true. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.", "This is the city: Galactic City, Coruscant. I work here. I'm a Jedi. In this job you see a lot of strange and unruly things, things that no amount of temple training could ever prepare you for. People think it's all about the lightsaber, but when the plasma hits the vent, nine times out of ten it's your intuition and the Force that will be key to closing the case in time."

As a Jedi, you will be a fairly durable target for criminals and thugs that may accost you during your investigations: but it's not your life that you're worried about. A few seconds delay on the way to a crime scene, or on the path of a killer may cost you the case. As a Jedi you are a keeper of the peace and a protector of the innocent; innocent who are few and far between in Galactic City.

The Force will help you out during your investigations, depending on how you let it: you can get glimpses and whispers of the past, sense important pieces of evidence, or sense the motives of those you talk to. Stay alert though, as not all species or people will be susceptible to your techniques. If you work quickly and weigh the evidence carefully, you may be able to catch your man/woman/alien before they move off-planet or disappear into the maze of the city. Among the scum you come against will be murderers, drug-dealers, slavers, Hutts, Sith and other cults, psychopaths, rouge droids, and both cops and bounty hunters gone bad, and while futuristic CSI techniques will help you, equally futuristic devices will be used by criminals scour the scenes of evidence and mask their motives and movements.

Throw in a cast of flawed, yet relatable characters a few plot twists and a recurring sadistic-yet-elusive antagonist (who would ever suspect the Gungan of being the BluMilk Killer? ) and I think you'd have a pretty cool game!

How's that sound? :)

I only have 1 and this is it. I sorta came late to the party.

Well...., if anything goes: A Star Wars version of The Elder Scrolls woud be nice.

Exchange the cities for planets, Empire-Rebellion politics. Add Bespin with Calrissian and Nar Shaddaa for extra side factions; guilds for bountyhunters, mercenaries, traders, smugglers. Hutts andere Black Sun.

Could all be there. Buy ships , buy/build houses. Play various races.

But please no MMO. If I play against someone I prefer X-Wing ;)

Star Wars arcade.

Whoever said Star Wars: Mass Effect was right on the money.

I want a gritty Star Wars squadron command game too, remember in the old days of 93 Xwing where you had your friends pilot files, so you chose them as wingmen? Think that turned to 11.

Am surprised there's not a mod for ME3. Cerberus troops would make great Stormies, Atlas = ATST, Assassin fella = The Fett, the Krogan female = Jabba's lady.

I want an operational level Star Wars game, where you're the commander of an Imperial or Rebel task force. Maybe a few squadrons, a handful of small capital ships, and one major capital ship. You are given broad object tives, and must plan missions with your forces. You manage repairs, ordnance, crew readiness, supplies, etc.

The different fighters have their non-combat advantages represented. Y-wings are easy to maintain and durable, having high readiness, and their hyperdrive lets them operate away from support ships. B-wings on the other hand require more resources devoted to support, but have heavy shielding and weaponry to make frontal assaults.

You would have to decide how your forces would be allocated in-theater. Do you spread out, making it difficult for the other side to land a telling blow, or do you concentrate forces to attack a key target? Do you try to use safe raids to nip at the opposing forces, or do you try to win it all in one go?

Cabela's Ewok Hunter

Star Wars: ArmA.

Allow people to do everything from fight as a Stormtrooper or Rebel trooper, driving speeders and speeder bikes, commanding AT-STs and AT-ATs, piloting X-Wings and TIEs, all the way up to commanding at least a corvette. Basically Battlefront, if Battlefront were ArmA: Star Wars instead of Battlefield: Star Wars.

Star Wars: Fallout.

The other option. RPG. Set in the Outer Rim between shortly before The Force Awakens. Player has some sensitivity with the Force - although not much more powerful than Rey or Finn in TFA or Luke in A New Hope - can choose to sink points into blasters, slug throwers, or lightsabers (and other melee weapons), all of which the player can build and customize. Add the ability to establish settlements. The player can join the Hutts/Kanjiklub/Guavian Death Gang, local militia, bounty hunter guild(s)/cartel(s), Republic intelligence, or become an agent for the First Order.

Video - Star Wars vs Star Trek Space Sim - Very similar to the old Bridge Commander game, you get 1 ship and can generate ANY custom space battle you want, or play through scenarios. Support AI or human players in any configuration. You can pilot small fighters or large ships, and the default setup will be a point-based system, so if you choose a Star Destroyer, you will end up being pitted against an equally powerful force. You can Finally play a Galaxy-Class Starship vs a Star Destroyer, or team up universes, maybe have 2 X-Wings, a runabout, and a Klingon Bird of Prey take on a Romulan Warbird!

Board - How about a Star Wars game that is truly multiplayer? A Outer Rim, lawless type game, where the Empire has no power, the Rebellion has no influence, and only the strong survive. Play as your favorite Bounty hunter, or an Undercover Rebel, or a deserted Imperial Officer. Try to get Hutt Contracts, bountys, earn your own ship, etc. Either make it a 4X game or make it a big arena type game that uses imperial Assault-scale miniatures.

Video game: Republic Commandos 2

Board Game: Smash Up Star Wars

For a video game I would like to see a mashup of the space sim Free Lancer and open world RPG of the elder scrolls or fallout. Set it where you are an independent pilot from some backwater planet. All you have is something like a Z-95 or an M3-A as your starting ships. Then you go out kind of open space, you can travel to different planets and make a name for yourself. Now unlike free lancer where planets were just a series of menus. I would actually like to get out and explore these different planets like Mass Effect, do different missions, interact with different factions, perhaps I join a faction or maybe I become a bounty hunter or smuggler, or I go into an Officer academy to become a flag officer of my very own Mon Cal Cruiser or Star Destroyer. Maybe my goal is to be the best pod/swoop bike racer in the galaxy and I tour the racing circuit. Just a completely open world that includes both ground exploration and space simulation.

As for a board game I would like to see a star wars version of Twilight Imperium.
