REBELS!

By Boba Rick, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Anyways, there is no time period event on these side mission cards. So you can bring Obi-wan and Greedo on missions when they were already dead.

As someone else mentioned, perhaps there’s a chance that FFG blotted out the time period restriction to keep the next big box expansion quiet for now.

There’s no way FFG goes out of their way to make sure that you can’t bring Luke or Han into a RTH campaign but Obi is free to be earned at any time.

I think including item cards in these expansions is another clue to consider: figures can only be used in the next big box expansion but you can include the item cards in any campaign.

This does appear to indicate that there will be a campaign set before Episode IV.

Personally, I hope it's more focused on Rogue One espionage than the Rebels plot line.

I think these figures are mostly for skirmish, and i'm fine with that. The Inquisitor was a bit of a cartoonishly simple villain, but seeing as he was in a cartoon, I guess it's okay.

Obi wan and Greedo are nice surprises.

I would like to play through the campaign with Obi-wan, as if he hadn't died in episode IV. I know it's heresy, but it would be cool to have him and Luke fighting on Hoth instead.

Why not both? The rebel series does give a bit more leeway for FFG to play around with since Rogue one is pretty much right before a New hope while rebels is 5 years before.

I know people will say they cant do rebels because the show is still going but the thing to keep in mind is that we are not seeing every mission they go on.

I think your Rebels big box is a sound bet. In a way, it'll be the Imperial Assault Prequel box...

Agent Kallus as the main villian.

The 6 rebel heros as the player characters.

With allies and villians such as Ashoka, Maul, the seventh sister , and Rex

Mecenary figures like Hondo and Cikatr Vizago.

There is a wealth of content to draw from if FF ever chose to do a Rebels Core box.

People seem to be needlessly worried about time periods and lore.

Don't we all like these Star Wars characters? Who doesn't eventually want a Yoda figure or the Emperor, or the Rancor or whatever?

Don't we want new toys?

I want new Rebels toys!!!

Yes please. And quickly before my credit card gets too abused.

They aren't toys. They are finely sculpted miniatures. Toys indeed. (and yup! Every single pne I can get my hands on!)

"Mum, they're not dolls! They're ACTION FIGURES!"

I'm going to start referring to Patrickmahan as Agent Blaise.

Sorry Boba Rick, I guess unlike you I can actually read books and enjoy them.

BUT you want to know whats great about this game? If you dont want to include Rebels in your campaign, you dont have to. If you dont want Ewoks to show up, you dont have to. If you dont want any Force Users except the original 4 (Twins, Obi, & Vader) you dont have to. If you dont want any of them in your skirmish armies, you dont have to use them (sure youll prob face them) but YOU dont have to use them and can stick to your "ideal" Star Wars universe.

So quit your griping.

NOW, the main question about the Rebels exp box, is whether theyre going to make the main 6 Rebel team, the playable heroes, or make them ALL just allies...

Another reminder that seems to be necessary every so often.

You can go into your personal settings here and block posts from certain users. Makes things more pleasant.

I can't wait for Rebels stuff. If I can get a Chopper figure and an Ahsoka figure I'll be set.

I've definitely become a You Disney punks stay off my lawn. I'll admit it. I'm a Star Wars plank owner. That means I watched it as 8 year old in 1977. I have been invested with Star Wars in some way or another most of my life. I've always loved the property. I've hated certain things, but rarely to I get to the point where I just outright reject something. KOTOR was great because you got to experience the Star Wars universe without the problem of lore. I think this is why many liked the EU. The Clone Wars starting flirting with tolerances by bringing it this tween brat to be Anakin's apprentice. By the end they had salvaged her to a point of toleration, but there were other things, like reviving Darth Maul. That was pure fan ****. Overall though, I had a good impression of the Clone Wars following its ending. I was excited for Rebels, until I saw it. Then I just sank in my chair at the badness that was this program. The new movie just stunk. Stunk bad.

Dude, FFG and Disney dont care really about what you want/feel based off what Ive read thru in most of your negative posts.

That is an interesting question. Having them in the campaign as allies would most probably mean that they'd be tokens, but having six separate ally packs for them seems a bit unwieldy - that's two waves' worth in itself. Making them heroes in the campaign would make sense from an SKU standpoint, but would break the 'no established characters' convention for heroes.

A possible consideration would be making them token allies in the campaign, but releasing the figures as a bundle ally pack in a format we haven't seen for IA yet. I'm thinking of the large clamshell boxes like the X-Wing "Veterans" or "Most Wanted" packs.

Alternatively, as I pointed out earlier, there is a possibility that this hypothetical expansion won't be 'all-in' Rebels themed, but just set in a roughly equivalent time period with cameos of the villains and secondary characters, in which case not having the show protaganists as figures at all might be a possibility. That would be a pretty shrewd middle ground for FFG to take, in order not to upset anyone about the Rebels content. Fans of the show would get a bit of their fix with the Inquisitors, Kallus, Ahsoka, Mandalorians, Rex or whoever else, while detractors would be spared the burning agony of having an angsty Mary Sue teenager with a laser slingshot going around wrecking entire battalions of Stormtroopers.

But then again, I have some doubts about FFG deciding to plant themselves on the fence about this.

You had to remind of this fact, didn't you. :D

Would you have preferred if I invoked the angsty Boba Fett fanpander jetpack girl who expresses her cool teenage rebelious tendencies by doing graffiti? I'd enjoy making you cringe either way :P

Star Wars fans spend too much energy hating things.

It is beyond cringe. It is writhing at this point. Still after they turned Mandalore into Switzerland, minus actually being able to fight if they need to, nothing that Filoni and company does surprises me anymore.

Well, having Mandalore be Switzerland is at least an explanation for why an entire civilization of supposedly unstoppable badass warriors with grenades for balls was conveniently absent for the entirety of the Galactic Civil War and pretty much forever and ever after that.

Not a very good explanation, but oh well, this is Star Wars after all, just focus on the laser show and the guy with the breathing problem.

Actually, we'd all get along swell as fans if everyone just did that.

Do you guys not remember Death Watch? The guys who were actually still Warriors and hated the pacifist madalorians? Who ENDED the pacifist mandalorians?

Mandos show up in Rebels too and are warriors. No trace of the pacifists anymore.

People seem to be needlessly worried about time periods and lore.

It's not needless, it's part of the rules of the game. Although a rule I ignore because I don't really think it adds much. The only time I really feel connected directly to the movies is the first mission of Hoth.

I can see FFG doing a cool pre-EP4 expansion that can incorporate all the cool new elements from Rogue one like those dark troopers and Hovertanks we saw in the movie as well as the AT DT walkers, the cadet troopers and some of the inquistor stuff. Also then they can have Rebel agents from different rebel cells and off shoots and all the cool nods from Rebels and Rogue one in one expansion extravaganza!

It's a smart move seeing as the jump forward to TFA would have been 30 years and honestly too big to connect with the current story they have going on.

Who knows, maybe you'll get Gideon as an imperial commander still? Fenn as a storm trooper? Put some backstory to current FFG characters.

Wait, Gideon is supposed to be an ex-Imperial officer? Wow, I missed that bit. No wonder they kicked him out though, what with the whole Caucasian Male And Bonus Points For Posh British Gentlemen theme they were going for with their officer cadre.

Rae Sloane might disagree with that.
