REBELS!

By Boba Rick, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

One of the things I thought that would be cool to add is a card called something like "Unexpected Ally" where perhaps its a reward that allows you to create a side deck of 2-6 hero skirmish cards (that arent the heroes being used in the campaign) and one is randomly drawn and thats the ally you bring to that mission and the Imperial Player only gets like 4 threat. So you can bring in a Biv/Gaarkhan/Fenn for super cheap. And if you have Murins exp card, basically for free. But its random.

~D

I think that's a super cool idea. Figure out the average heros' skirmish cost, maybe add one, and you commit to paying before seeing which one... (No Jyn we don't want your help. Go home!)

Would you have preferred if I invoked the angsty Boba Fett fanpander jetpack girl who expresses her cool teenage rebelious tendencies by doing graffiti? I'd enjoy making you cringe either way :P

And people wonder what my problem with Rebels is...

Yup, it has a bit of that in it.

But honestly, the old EU had the same kind of cringeworthy stuff in spades. Come on, it had a random astromech drroid running away from home to become a Jedi after apparently getting some of them middle chlorians stuck up his exhaust.

It had and entire civilization of angsty goth BDSM aliens invading the galaxy.

It had an angsty teenager reimagining of Scooby Doo and the Mystery Machine gang the Solo kids.

It even had a cyborg Imperial admiral going all "I'll get you next time, Gadget" at R2D2 for wrecking a "robot harem".

Star Wars stuff has always been this way. Rebels is just continuing on that steady path after the franchise shook some stuff up. Getting offended by that is pretty ridiculous in my book.

I'm not saying all the old EU was good. I know it had a ton of **** itself. And I'd be 'almost' equally as mad if that bad crap EU got in instead of the good stuff EU. It's the fact that we get this Rebels crap instead of the good EU like Shadows of the Empire, Dark Forces, etc that pisses me off.

Rebels is solid. It's a kid's show but is still light years parsecs ahead of Phantom Menace trilogy or The Force Awakens for writing and characters. Legends stuff (Shadows of the Empire etc.) is often more miss than hit and there is so freaking much of it, thousands of comics, books, games. Yeah, you could pick a handful of good stuff from it, but most of it was pretty bad.

Then just pick the good stuff. Why is it hard to understand that I don't want all the old EU in IA... I just want the good stuff? It's not like FFG has to go all in.

Because your 'good stuff' isn't necessarily someone else's 'good stuff', and that lands us back at square one.

Gasp! I complain because the stuff I want in isn't put in. No ones ever done that before!

I still want Jawas.
