My friend Parker wrote a neat series about how he (a noob) is preparing for his first Regionals:

Is Parker attending the NY Regional on Sunday? I am! I always like to see people who have little experience step up and play. Not because I want to beat them, but it's good for a community as a whole.
He is! I probably am too! Having a little trouble justifying an expensive hotel Saturday night- anyone up for being Saturday night roomies?
If I didn't arrange a carpool with a fellow player from Philly, I'd consider. That and endless OT at work is limiting my practice big-time.
Good advice, because this noob is going to regionals as long as work doesn't get in the way.
Those asteroid fields and space-station models look sweet! any idea where the best place to get them is?
Note taking is probably a good idea even for more experienced players. It is a good way to remember mistakes you make without immediately dwelling on them too much. Write it down, move on.

Those are space rocks, sadly they got shut down.

So is there anywhere you can buy something similar than?
