If selected, I'd pick Bargos
Sarone EotE Campaign into Hutt Space Recruitment Thread
I'm thinking about playing a HK-Series assassin droid instead of Jasen.
Not trying to dissuade you, but hiring out as a bodyguard with no skills with weapons sounds a bit off. Are you sure the Outlaw Tech is the way to go? If you want to tinker but also function in combat, perhaps consider the Gadgeteer Bounty Hunter? As is the skillset the HK brings is pretty similar to my mechanic/slicer...
Statement: HK-99s character sheet has been updated... Meatbags.

Good eye, Kymrel. That being said, the team does lack a dedicated mechanic and he would help in that regard.
I don't know if I'm reading the math wrong, but can you show how you created the character? A quick glance at the career/specialization seems to not coincide with what you have. Also, the history isn't too bad but it seems to lack something. I'm not sure what it is, but it is leaving me with a nagging feeling.
I don't mind it too much. However, I do intend to throw some "combat" situations at the group, not all of which will be lethal.
In addition to the Faces comment, there's also not very many non-human/non-standard submissions. To put it another way, there's too many humans walking around in plastic masks and face paint, as well as being from Hutt Space. A bit more diversity is more than welcomed.
Well my concept leans more non human
. I'm debating between Twi'lek and Mirialan.
Interesting build. Sounds like you're going the lawman/bounty hunter route.
Thanks. I'm still piecing the background together in my mind. Lawman/Bounty Hunter is the general jist of it. Since I got the idea from watching Brisco County Jr he is more along the lines of a cowboy than a law man in the strictest terms. I expect him to try to do good when possible, but life happens. Though he hopes to one day retire to Naboo and get a nice vineyard going
I should have a sheet done sometime next week. Question though, do I need to purchase my equipment when I submit the sheet or can I leave that for later? I was thinking about asking for a bit of help with finding the right kind of gun.
The comment about plastic masks and face paint is aimed at the fact other species, like Toydarians, Wookies, Trandoshans, Droids, or others aren't being used. While it's not a huge issue, I would like to have a bit more diversity.
It is expected for you to have your equipment picked out before the close of recruitment.
Sarone, I'd pull the quote but I'm on my phone so trying to isolate the stuff's a pain in the butt. Anyway, I'm glad the backstory refinement will help. A question I have is to what you were referring by getting a reputation in the group. Could you elaborate? Thanks!
Let me put it this way: currently, your character seems set on becoming a bit of a celebrity for the group and campaign. The closest example that comes to mind would be Lando Calrissan. When ever he shows up people recognize him for good or ill. In essence, you aren't so much the face of the group, but also the social monkey, the one people might immediately associate as the leader of the group.
Is that a good explanation?
@Sarone - Here is my re-submission based on your recommendations: Rogua - Gamorrean - Marauder
Please withdraw my previous submissions because of the background issues you mentioned and let me know if you need me to make any changes to this character as well. Thanks.
Logged and noted. I'll check it out more in depth later on.
Additionally, if there's a concern about too many humans, I'd be happy to switch Tion to a Devaronian. Since I don't have Nexus of Power I totally forgot Devaronians are a playable race now. I can easily reconfigure. I would need a bit of info as to their species abilities and stay block, however. I quite like Devaronians anyway.
I would prefer characters based on books you have access to, to be honest. That way I can also check the math to ensure everything is kosher.
I summit Edad Sul.
A Duros Archaeologist/Pilot with a "minor" obsession...
(I'd vote for Bargos if selected)
Welcome aboard. It's good to see more interest.
Checking out the character, one issue is the Well Rounded talent. Does that allow Character Creation ranks to be used like that? The second flag would be the two ranks in Pilot Space. While not necessarily bad, Colonel Commissar is the resident pilot. However, it is good to see someone with knowledge skills taken.
Edit: Looking at Edad, it seems like you spent 30 XP to boost Agility from 2 to 3, as well as another 30 to boost Cunning from 2 to 3. That covers 60 XP. You then took the 10 extra Obligation for 10 extra XP, giving you 70.
Skills looks to be 1 free racial rank in Pilot (Space). The free career ranks were put in Astrogation, Pilot (Space), Know (Lore), and Know (Xeno). The free specialist rank went to Know (Education) and Know (Lore).
5 XP was spent on Well Rounded for Ranged (Light) and Skulduggery. 15 XP was the spent to get two ranks in Ranged (Light). The is altogether 20 XP spent of 70 XP, leaving you with 50 XP.
Does your math match mine?

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe he used all 110 XP up:
Starting XP = 100 + 10 (from Obligation) = 110 XP total
Agility 2 -> 3 = 30 XP
Cunning 2 -> 3 = 30 XP
Well Rounded = 5 XP
2 Ranks in Ranged (Light) = 15 XP
Non-Career Specialization (Smuggler -> Pilot) = 30 XP
30 + 30 + 5 + 15 + 30 = 110 XP
Good eye, Kymrel. That being said, the team does lack a dedicated mechanic and he would help in that regard.
Hm. The Artisan has plenty of mechanic talents, I start out with Intellect 4 and 1 rank in the skill with the plans to increase the skill in play. That's pretty dedicated to me ![]()
I agree. Though the group doesn't HAVE to be balanced, if we wanted it to be we'd have 2 tech experts, 2 pilots, 2 combat experts, and 2 social face characters. Each of the 'non-combat' roles should and look like they do have some secondary skills in combat, so that should help significantly. Also, it sounds like we'll have 8 total (3 reserved, 3 primary, 2 alternate), so those numbers should work out well. So far, it looks like the reserved players have already been chosen and we have 9 total submissions (though themensch doesn't appear to have a valid submission in right now since the link went away).
I wouldn't mind being an alternate, but don't think the GM will be making final decisions until next week. Should be a good game if the majority of participants stay active.
My my, Bargos the Hutt seems like a popular choice. Nobody going for the she-hutt except me... ![]()
Quick question, about when next week do you want a sheet? I'd like to make sure I've got time to do one up.

*looks at the math* Ok, I seem to have forgotten to check my own math.
Looks like I was off by 20, meaning 30 was to be the left instead of 50. Unfortunately, that is explained by the second specialization, which is somewhat of waste of XP.

The best example is actually from the Edge of Darkness campaign where Geoff and CT were in a similar situation. The skilled assistance there would be roughly the same here.

I'm looking at making the final decision starting on Sunday, with a hard deadline being on Wednesday, May 18. There will be a final review of submissions on Thursday, then official notice on Friday. Looking to start the campaign Saturday, ay 21st.
I will be contacting all potential candidates between Sunday and Wednesday to ensure they are still in the game.
Cool. I like how organized you are Sarone, A+ for that ![]()
Then I'll do my best to get it done Sunday, though by Wed for sure. I'll bring my books to the office so I can plan while I take breaks or something.
Also can we use motivations or mix and match from different ones between the books?

I can see what you mean. It wasn't my intention. Based on everyone's builds and stories I personally envisioned Colonel's character as the group's leader.
Sticking to races for which I have the book makes sense.
Final desicion, I'm going to play Jasen albeit with a few changes. Sell the pistol and vsword to get an ac280 rifle. Make some gear changes. etc. etc. I will try and get the final version of him up this afternoon.
Final version of Jasen is up, and who wants to have a bodyguard?
Sadly, although Massan really would need a decent bodyguard, he is very unlikely to have one. Perhaps one of the face-types, they always talk the talk and then pay the bodyguard to walk the walk...
I've reworked Edad a bit. Also, is there away to add the Duros free Advantage to the astrogation check line on SWsheets?
I now see him having just having been a co-pilot/navigator for the smuggler as opposed to learning to fly.(Not that he can't, just not as much XP put into it at this time.)
As far as his trinket goes, I have no notions or desires as to what it might actually be. In fact, I'd be ok if it was basically nothing and he's just a bit of a loon ball.
Also, just putting things out there ahead of time: I've never played in a PbP game before, I'm just tired of not playing the game. I've struggled with finding a group around town to play with, so I figured I'd give this a try. I appologize in advance for any mistakes I am certain to make.
Edited by TheErthafeinJust put any/all special abilites into talnts and abilites that you need too.

Jasen knows the value of "practical" help. If no one else wants one Massan has a bodyguard.
Seems prudent to wait until we know who all gets accepted into the campaign before making connections between characters.
Very true. I merely pointed out that Massan would be very unlikely to have such a connection to another character. A former slave and a slicer-for-hire with a mandalorian bodyguard? Unlikely, very unlikely.

I'm Colonel-Commissar, and I approve this message.

Could be good...
Just don't give that Twi'lek chick any datapads with long words or multiple choices. She was elected to lead, not to read...

I take offense to that. Just because we aren't all nerds doesn't mean we don't know what we're doing, and Lynna had the finest Rylothian education.
Not that that counts for much.
I had a quick question as I flesh out the background in my head, are there any no Empire military forces to belong to? I wanted the character to have a military background but I didn't want him to be Imperial or Rebel so was trying to think of some other force that he might have gained military experience with.
Unless Sarone's view of the Star Wars world differs from mine (and it might!) I suppose you could pick almost any civilized planet and say the character was a member of the local planetary defense force. Most planets will probably have local forces instead of having to rely on the Imperial fleet for every minor pirate incident etc.
