Sarone EotE Campaign into Hutt Space Recruitment Thread
Cool. I like how organized you are Sarone, A+ for that
It's an old habit from playing various games as well as being in the military. Organization is key in quite a few projects.
I can see what you mean. It wasn't my intention. Based on everyone's builds and stories I personally envisioned Colonel's character as the group's leader.
Sticking to races for which I have the book makes sense.
It makes sense. That being said, it can also be a new variation of the Kansas City Shuffle.
Final version of Jasen is up, and who wants to have a bodyguard?
From my end, Jasen's job would be to protect the Benefactor's investment, A.K.A. the Team.
I've reworked Edad a bit. Also, is there away to add the Duros free Advantage to the astrogation check line on SWsheets?
I now see him having just having been a co-pilot/navigator for the smuggler as opposed to learning to fly.(Not that he can't, just not as much XP put into it at this time.)
As far as his trinket goes, I have no notions or desires as to what it might actually be. In fact, I'd be ok if it was basically nothing and he's just a bit of a loon ball.
Also, just putting things out there ahead of time: I've never played in a PbP game before, I'm just tired of not playing the game. I've struggled with finding a group around town to play with, so I figured I'd give this a try. I appologize in advance for any mistakes I am certain to make.
Understood. I was just a bit concerned about the investment of XP into Smuggler when it can go into Attributes, Skills, and Talents (Having a 4 in an Attribute is worth it's weight in credits).
Sadly, although Massan really would need a decent bodyguard, he is very unlikely to have one. Perhaps one of the face-types, they always talk the talk and then pay the bodyguard to walk the walk...
Jasen knows the value of "practical" help. If no one else wants one Massan has a bodyguard.
Very true. I merely pointed out that Massan would be very unlikely to have such a connection to another character. A former slave and a slicer-for-hire with a mandalorian bodyguard? Unlikely, very unlikely.
See the comment about Jasen protecting the group, not just one character.
I can see what you mean. It wasn't my intention. Based on everyone's builds and stories I personally envisioned Colonel's character as the group's leader.
I'm Colonel-Commissar, and I approve this message.
Final version of Jasen is up, and who wants to have a bodyguard?
Could be good...
We shall see.
Then I'll do my best to get it done Sunday, though by Wed for sure. I'll bring my books to the office so I can plan while I take breaks or something.
Also can we use motivations or mix and match from different ones between the books?
You can mix and match, but I request that they make sense for the character.
Seems prudent to wait until we know who all gets accepted into the campaign before making connections between characters.
It always is a good idea.
Just don't give that Twi'lek chick any datapads with long words or multiple choices. She was elected to lead, not to read...
I take offense to that. Just because we aren't all nerds doesn't mean we don't know what we're doing, and Lynna had the finest Rylothian education.
Not that that counts for much.
Seems like there's a military joke in there.
I had a quick question as I flesh out the background in my head, are there any no Empire military forces to belong to? I wanted the character to have a military background but I didn't want him to be Imperial or Rebel so was trying to think of some other force that he might have gained military experience with.
Unless Sarone's view of the Star Wars world differs from mine (and it might!) I suppose you could pick almost any civilized planet and say the character was a member of the local planetary defense force. Most planets will probably have local forces instead of having to rely on the Imperial fleet for every minor pirate incident etc.
There are a number of different military forces out there in the Star Wars Universe. That being said, I would request that you keep it relatively simple and with the ones that make sense for your character.
I went with Planetary Security Force form my off brand Military background.
Interesting use of the other planets. I'll keep that in mind for the campaign.
@Sonovabith - If you really wanted to play as a Devaronian, the Unofficial Species Menagerie is usually accepted and has fan-made stats for the Devaronian (which if I remember right are fairly close to the official stats, but I can't remember exactly).
@Kael - The Corporate Sector Authority (CSA) had a fairly large military branch. Disagreeing with their brutal practices is always a good reason for leaving them to find something else.
@TheErthafein - I would have to agree with the GM about spending starting XP more on attributes. Your char looks better now, but It would almost be better to upgrade Intellect to rank 4 and take away some of the ranks in all those Knowledge skills. It'll give you 4 green for all Intellect based skills and it will be easier to buy ranks in skills later than upgrade your Attributes (which you can only do with the Dedication talent or some expensive cybernetics). Just a recommendation since it sounds like you haven't had the chance to play as much. Very interesting character choice though. I've never seen a player go with the Archaeologist before, but think it would be a fun option to play. Focusing on those Knowledge skills later on can really come in handy. I try to require Knowledge skill checks in some of the games I GM, but the players usually have to find things out the hard way since none of them have high ranks in their Knowledge skills. Having a smart guy in the group with lots of Knowledge ranks could help save us a lot of time.
Ok I have 3 concepts here for your approval:
1) Sting Wango: Rodian Hired Gun - Enforcer
Sting grew up poor on Rodia in a disgraced clan of failed hunters. His family was deep in debit to the local crime syndicate. He was offered a chance to do some work for the crime syndicate to help pay off some of his clan's debit. To which he agreed. He quickly made a name for himself as a top notch enforcer and collector. Soon he was taking on the role of a lone shark and book maker, a role in which he excelled at given his past reputation as a gang land enforcer. This ensured that he rarely had to collect outstanding markers, but when he did he was sure to visit the mark personally and get the money by what ever means necessary.
With his growing reputation the syndicate moved him to the more fertile location of Nar Shaddaa where he took to his new life like a fish to water. He was able to increase the syndicate's revenue by 30% by quickly showing people that he was not a shylock to be skipped on.
Things were working out well until a Fel Draga, a Neimoidian crime boss that was jealous of Sting's budding fiefdom of crime, convinced Sting's marks that Fel's organization would protect them and renegotiate their payments if they refused to pay Sting.
As can be expected, this soon turned into all out warfare between the 2 factions. During the fighting, the daughter of, Gikk Nogun a Nikto minor crime lord was inadvertently killed when the fighting spilled over in to a market area. While Gikk does not blame Sting directly for his daughter's death, it is still something that he expects Sting to pay him back on.
With Sting coming out on the losing end of the fight, the syndicate withdrew their support and removed him from the organization. The only reason that he is still alive, is that they still may have a need for him in the future once things cool down with Gikk and Fel.
In the mean time Sting has crawled off to a forgotten corner of the Galaxy, where his reputation hopefully has not caught up to him, and crawled inside a bottle and takes odd jobs as strictly hired muscle for the local crime lord.
Motivation: Blood Money: Violence is Sting's Business, which is never in short supply. He knows no other way to make money and treats his bloody work as any other job.
Obligations:
A Score to Settle: Get back at Fel Draga for ruining his reputation - 10 points
Collateral Accountability: Repay Gikk Nogun for the accidental death of his daughter - 10 points
2) Kirkrun - Wookie Explorer - Big Game Hunter
Ever since Kirkrun was a small wookie, he was fascinated by the tales of the deep forests on Kyshayyk, especially the fearsome monsters there. When he had grown up, being more fool hardy then skilled journeyed to the deep forest to kill a beast from the tales he had heard growing up. He brought along some of his friends to share in the glory.
However, with little to no actual experience hunting things that big on their own, the hunt went poorly. Most of them were severely hurt but some were killed before they were rescued by a more experienced hunting party. They brought the survivors back to the city where their wounds were tended to and Kirkrun, being the ring leader faced sanction by the elder council.
After much debate, the eldars exiled Kirkrun from Kyshayyak. He found himself hiring on to freighters as muscle and a hired gun. Eventually, he was able to keep enough credits to return to the hunt. He was able to hire on to a ship that was capturing large game for export to various crime lords, zoos, and eccentric nobles.
He proved himself time and again to his new crew. They were on Hoth hunting icestompers when they were ambushed by a large Wampa. The Wampa destroyed the hunting party and Kirkrun managed to wound it, taking out one of it's eyes with a bowcaster bolt and it ran. Kirkrun, badly injured himself barely managed to limp back to their camp, their speeder having been wrecked by the wampa.
Kirkrun and what few survivors there were returned to their employer with much less stock then they had promised. They were all let go and black listed. Kirkrun was forced to return to working as a hired gun and was forced to sell off most of his hunting gear. He took a vow to return to Hoth and hunt down the ancient wampa that attacked them.
Motivation:
Through his wanderings and failures, Kirkrun has taken to the hunt as a means of Self Discovery, finding his limits and pushing the envelope. While cash is nice to make ends meet, Trophies are where a real hunter shines. He wears the pelts and teeth of many of his successful hunts.
Obligations:
Obsession: Find and kill the wampa that got away -10
Exiled: Exiled from Kyshayyk-10
3) Titus Dryaen Human Explorer - Scout/Fringer
Titus grew up the son of a lesser noble on Chandrilla and was fascinated by the tales his governess spun about lost civilizations and the old galactic empires. When he was a bit older this curiosity was changed to an obsession with the numerous holo-vids of those fantastic tales. One tale in particular, the tale of King Veghoth the Hutt's lost city of gold on a long forgotten jungle planet enthralled him.
He used every opportunity he could to study the story buying books from various sources trying in vain to find an original copy, as well as star charts to that location. When he grew up he left his family and Chandrilla to seek out this lost city. He quickly blew through a large portion of his trust fund and was shut off from it.
Not wanting to give up on his dream, he started working as a field reporter sending back reports to various adventure journals of his journeys to subsidize his expeditions when these donations started to dry up, he quickly a massed a large debt in most ports in the deep fringe.
He hopes to one day find the city or other treasures to pay off his debt
Motivation:
Discover Lost Treasure
Obligations:
Obsession -10 (Find the fabled lost city of King Veghoth the Hutt )
Debt -10
Of the 3, I would have fun with all 3. I do think that Sting and Titus are more multi-faceted then Kirkrun, but I think all are playable. Though I think that the Treasure hunting scout could pair well with the Archeologist and Sting would pair well with any of the faces.
Ever since Kirkrun was a small wookie, he was fascinated by the tales of the deep forests on Kyshayyk, especially the fearsome monsters there.
Did you mean Kashyyyk? See http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kashyyyk
Yeah so I cant spell...not like it is in the standard dictionary. Also my pc hates wookipedia. It freezes due to all the adware.
Finally finished the paper so should have time to come up with a sheet. Was thinking either Bounty Hunter Survivalist or Seeker Hunter with Seek power. Hmmmm
I don't think anybody has much of a Survival skill (though I am a Bounty Hunter, and I am planning to take Survivalist and maybe Gadgeteer in the future, and Cunning 3 doesn't hurt in the meantime.)
Edited by SirSprinklesYeah so I cant spell...not like it is in the standard dictionary. Also my pc hates wookipedia. It freezes due to all the adware.
That’s why you use Adblock Pro, or maybe even multiple ad blockers.
I agree, this is perhaps a better idea for a character you might play in a silly one-shot with mates drinking beer. It sounds like a concept that would get tiresome rather fast, for the player most of all, but also for the GM and the other players. I'm sure there are other concepts that would work better.
One might say the same about Gippy Bindu, the 400lbs, elderly Mon Calamari diplomat character from the Never Tell Me The Odds podcast. He ended up being a star in that story, despite all the silly bits of his concept. Of course to each their own.
I've borrowed a copy of Nexus of Power from my live game GM, so I have the official Devaronian stats. If you'd like more diversity I can rebuild Tion as a RAW Devaronian.
EDIT: However, looking at the roster on page 1, it looks like there's currently only two humans that have been submitted for consideration. In any case, if Tion is chosen and you want fewer humans, I'm OK with adjusting him.
Edited by sonovabithThis is the basis of my character sheet. I want to add more details and spend my credits but it's been a long day. Don't mind the pic, since Lord Bowler inspired the concept I went with that pic since I haven't found a Mirialan online I like. I want to maybe fiddle with the background more. Also any recommendations on a good pistol, or shotgun like weapon. Oh and is there like a duster like armore jacket?
Few Questions

Ok cool. That's what I thought but I was puzzled a bit on how being betrayed worked out as an obligation ( I got how being the betrayer worked). Considering the background I wrote I figured betrayal was a good choice. I'd also consider maybe a Bounty on him for being mistake as the one who killed a nobleman.
Also overall any thoughts on the sheet? I figured he can cover range combat pretty well as well as the survival and driving aspects which seemed to be where the holes were.
Edited by KaelThe reason that someone betrayed you is an obligation, is that the betrayal is weighing on your concious and you are trying to reconcile your past relationship with the need to find out why they betrayed you.

I have different ideas for my Obligation. And I may add a bit go the story if I change out his obligations.
I believe the best source would either be Far Horizons or Fly Casual. I believe that there is something like that there.
As for obligation, you can start with 10 and can go up to twenty. For the campaign, half of your obligation is to the group's benefactor.
You have to take 1 10 point obligation thay you get no bonus from then you MAY take another 10 points of obligation(s) that you get points from.
Betrayal means that you were betrayed by someone that you trusted.

In regards to a bounty, I would encourage nothing too drastic, as that can easily unbalanced the story.
As is, your character might have taken an oath or exile for what happened, as a bounty, to me, would be too extreme. Plus, the idea should be for you/your character to clear their name, not be on the run.
At least, that's my take.
Going over the character sheet right now. I'll let you all know when I make a decision.
Hi there...
I realize that this is the eleventh hour, but if you're still accepting submissions, I'd like to offer my character concept for review:
http://swsheets.com/c/racqfnecc-sheed
Sheed is a sneaky ghost burglar in the style of Bink Kitik from the Scoundrels novel by Timothy Zahn...for an out-of-universe reference, think something like maybe Catherine Zeta-Jones's character in Entrapment, though as a starter character, Sheed is far less advanced, sophisticated, or experienced...not to mention a lack of funding keeps her methods more to relying on stealth and defeating security the old fashioned way: picking locks, snipping wires, etc.
I think this is a niche not covered in-depth in the group...my first few ideas were already spoken for by a few other concepts.
I think I've followed all of the guidelines set forth, but if I've missed anything, just let me know and I'll be happy to revise.
Concept can be easily tweaked and adjusted to better suit the situation, but that's what I could come up with this afternoon/evening. I realize we already have one twi'lek in the group, but I really couldn't see this concept being anything but a twi'lek or human, and given your stated desire for more species diversity, I went non-human.
FWIW, I have all of the currently released books except for the Arda adventure (EDIT: and Strongholds...it's on my list to get, but I'd forgotten that it was actually released!)...and aside from the FaD core book, I have none of the supplements form FaD. That means I have all of the EotE books, and all of the AoR books, save for the adventure (EDIT: and Strongholds of Resistance).
I may do a short block of flavor text tomorrow (featuring Sheed in a short story), but I wanted to get the core of the concept out there asap.
Thanks!

Characters start at 10 Obligation with a max of 20. Half of the Obligations goes to the benefactor for the group. I also ask that you vote on a Benefactor form the three stated on the first Page.
In addition, you have not spent your ranks in skills, credits for the gear, as well as show where you have spent the XP for the attributes and such.
ATTENTION: I am going through the characters right now. Deadline is at Midnight Eastern Time. Until then, there are few errors I have been seeing:
- Everyone should show what they spent in character creation. This will help me in spotting any errors in the mechanics of the characters.
- Obligations start at 10 and can go up to 20. Half of the obligation is for the Benefactor, representing them pulling strings, previous debts, or new contracts
- If you are using a mechanic from Age of Rebellion or Force and Destiny, please let me know. A player can use that mechanic for additional credits/XP instead of Obligation.
- For Talents, please put in Book and Page number for the talent. That will help out with checking the math.
I'll do my best to let people know of any specific issues if possible, but this is serving as Due Notice for everyone to check their work.
*Note: Core group (ColonelCommisar, Kymrel, and Tear44) do not have to change their character sheets unless they want to. I would prefer they do so, but it is not necessary as they are already in.
Edited by SaroneJust updated the sheet for the skills and gear. Transferring over everything piecemeal from the OggDude generator...
I'll easily remove 10 Obligation, I simply misunderstood in an earlier post that 10 going to the benefactor was a *good* thing.
I have no preference on who the benefactor is...looks like the group leans toward Bargos, but I kinda like the idea of Shoola...consider me a split vote as well.
XP expenditure is really easy: 40 to take Presence from 3 to 4, 30 to take Cunning from 2 to 3, and 40 to take Cunning from 3 to 4. ![]()
Also still determining how to spend the balance of my credits.
Edited by hydrospannerI've shown all starting xp spending on my sheet. I've also expanded a bit on description, as I felt he might have been a tad bland before.

EDIT: Now includes credit spending
Edited by SirSprinklesThis is the basis of my character sheet.
The 10 Obligation we get from the game do we assign it?
How does Betrayal work?
I have different ideas for my Obligation. And I may add a bit go the story if I change out his obligations.
There are too many guns to choose from, not sure what you're looking for. The Smuggler's Trenchcoat (Fly Casual pg. 47) is what you're looking for as far as armor though.
Also, for Betrayal, you can take a look at my character, Rogua - Gamorrean - Marauder, for an idea of how to use the Betrayal Obligation.
