Poe, Tycho, Kyle help

By Lobokai, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Wanting to have Kyle fly interior lines and hand out focus to my aces. Should I keep the Calculation and Hull for him in case I run my aces on a wide turn, or trust in the aces and dump both for some combination of VI on Poe, Autothrusters on Poe, munitions fail safe Tycho? I know conventional wisdom is BB8, but I'm staying R2 there.

Poe Dameron - T-70 X-Wing - R2-D2

Tycho Celchu - A-Wing - Push The Limit, Proton Rockets, A-Wing Test Pilot, Wired

Kyle Katarn - HWK-290 - Calculation, Blaster Turret, Recon Specialist, Hull Upgrade

So I feel like on a double focus Poe you really want R5-P9 and Autothrusters. If not thrusters at least integrated Astro. Kyle isn't great at arc dodging or damage output, so I would put all my faith in the aces. Also I dislike the use of blaster turret without a way to get a target lock too. I ran it a few times and found the 3 raw dice don't hit very consistently for the point cost, when I could have an ion cannon and be arc dodging. Finally, I am not seeing a lot of symergu with calculation on Kyle, especially not with a way to ensure you have that focus since you need to spend it to fire the gun, and Poe wants a double focus very much.

I agree on r5, I just don't have him. How's this?

Poe Dameron (37) - T-70 X-Wing

R2-D2 (4), Autothrusters (2)

Tycho Celchu (34) - A-Wing

Push The Limit (3), Proton Rockets (3), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Munitions Failsafe (1), Wired (1)

Kyle Katarn (29) - HWK-290

Autoblaster Turret (2), Recon Specialist (3), Moldy Crow (3)

How about this:

Poe: R5-P9, Autothrusters, Vetern Instincts

Tycho: Push the Limit, Proton Rockets, Title, Daredevil

Kyle: TLT, Recon Specialist

Now Kyle will have a target on him so he needs to stay back, but Poe is self sufficient and can heal and Tycho will be a nightmare to get in arc, there are some other ways I could do this, but you get the general ideas. Tycho can get off a nice alpha strike and Poe can have a TL and focus for the first strike before he gets hit. Kyle will still have a focus for his 2 shots, which if you are at Range 3 and focus firing should hopefully do some damage. You might lose Kyle, but you can use this as a way to set up shots for Poe and Tycho, which might keep Kyle alive since you have PS 10 and 8, so you'll beat all but the fastest aces.

Not having R5 is a bit of a problem... He works really nice with Poe... I don't like wired on Tycho it's redundant, between PTL and Kyle he has his focus, I see where it's useful if he gets focused but he should be arc dodging more than anything... Problem I see with auto blaster is Kyle needs to get too close and will certainly die. What about an ion cannon? It cuts your damage but with talon rolls and Tycho's movement you get some serious Arc Dodging and Kyle can be a buzzard.

Ok. Thanks. I think I'll follow those

Sorry, I wish I could help more, is this casual or for tourney?

Casual but with an eye on tournament builds. I've got two Imperial lists I really like (nothing creative, tweaked net lists, 3 aces). Trying to do something a little different than the expected for rebels (and I don't have as deep a selection as imperials).

Drop Munitions Failsafe on Tycho and replace with Guidance Chips. Your chances of missing with a Focussed 5-dice attack are nearly zero. Better to save a point and spend that slot on something to boost the damage output.

If you can shave another point off somewhere else then Autothrusters would be even better on Tycho. I agree that Wired is probably not that great. How about Rage instead? Combined with PTL, you can perform an action of your choice, get a Focus from Rage + 3 rerolls and pile upt the stress without caring.

The only problem with rage on Tycho is you may run out of Stress tokens put on him. :P

I like Rage. Hadn't really looked through the Jumpmaster kit after the uboat frenzy erupted. Thanks
