Soldier Book

By 2P51, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

It's hard for me to jump in since I sorta can't.

Yeah, that's the one downside to playtesting, is that you already know what most of the new crunch for an upcoming book is going to look like.

That doesn't mean there aren't surprises, but those are far and few between.

Dam jealous of you guys for sure. Mind I can only guess that because your ahead of the pack probably doesn't change your anticipation levels, it just changes which books your anticipating?

Can't speak for 2P51, but it generally doesn't change the anticipation level, since once the book's out that means we can start using the new material in play with groups outside of our respective playtest circles.

or it could be highly abused in a "I'll hold off the door" scenario.

Think Heavy, holding off the door from all those sepratists, in Rookies. From the clone wars.

Aaah, one of my fave scenes from TCW:

One Battledroid to another: "Err, do we take prisoners...?"

Heavy: "I DON'T"

Yeah, it certainly is one of my favorites as well, though fives going down was certainly even more heartbreaking,

I'll watch Predator any day thanks (come to think of it that would be a fun encounter in an AoR/FaD game). Nice montage too

Edit: I was missing an e in "rlentless"

Hey, we're "At the Printer" already! Give me a little bit and I'll see how that changes our expected release date!

"Oh poor me! I get to see the books six months before the general public! My life is unending torment!"

:)

Okay, this seems like good news! I have very little data on how long printing takes, so i'm going entirely off how long it took for Savage Spirits. But SS took 27 days to print, so just about 4 weeks. Boating takes another 6 at least, and Shipping about 2-1/2. If Forged in Battle is similar, we could potentially be seeing it as soon as August 18, which would put it at 100 days.

That's not too incredible: we've had a 92 and 98 day release before, so 100 would be third place overall. And Lead by Example was 101 days, so it's not even unheard of for this line.

However, being conservative, I'm going to make my current estimate September 1 until we're "On the Boat" and I have more info.

Cheers!

That's close enough to Gen Con to say it will be sold there, at least in limited quantities.

Yeah, take out the shipping and FFG should have copies in their own hands by August 2 (assuming a 4-week printing time), so if I remember right and GenCon is the 4th through the 7th, then them being able to bring a box or two of books to sell would not be very far-fetched.
