Soldier Book

By 2P51, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

This pirate is quick on the draw.

I had a six month head start.

:D

Neat. It'll be interesting to see what the Trailblazer and Vanguard trees look like.

Heavy talent tree will likely be identical to the Heavy in the Hired Gun career.

Man, it probably isn't, but I really want that to be a Gauss rifle. :P

Cheers 2P51.

We needed some good news!

One duplicated Spec but at least it's one that fits.

Those wolf things must be one of the species, (the ones where Lucas ran out of of alien masks for the cantina scene and just used a Wolfman mask instead).

Any guesses for the others?

EDIT: Oh wait, I found them: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/219182-heres-the-big-question/?p=2210423

Eh, if that image is consistent with existing material then you probably aren't that far off...

I also find it hilarious that the wookieepedia otaku consider Battlefront to be "canon."

Heavy Fits, and I'm pretty sure duplicate specs aren't unprecedented. I'm curious about the Signature Abilities though. Hired Gun had Last Man Standing, and could wipe out ALL minions, plus some rivals. I think in a game like Age of Rebellion, where mass battle in the field is a thing, this ability should be right out, or it could be highly abused in a "I'll hold off the door" scenario.

Cheers 2P51.

So far as the duplicated spec, a friend of mine will probably be pretty happy she can save herself 10 XP for her Soldier character. She's had her eye on the Heavy tree for a while now.

I was under the impression that Wookieepedia considers everything canon. :P

But, yeah, for years I've wanted to hunt dragons with a Gauss rifle. So far, I haven't played a game that could make that happen. If FFG can make this dream a reality, I would be so happy...

The Driver, Pilot, and Slicer trees have all been duplicated.

I'm happy to see more profession books trickling in. Three new races, I wonder what they'll be?

Heavy and Trailblazer both match some of my guesses (although I thought of the latter as Ranger...). No idea what the Vanguard will do; defense specialist, with Armorer's Supreme Armor Master? (Another) Leadership? Melee?

Shistavanen would make sense, especially for Trailblazers. Lasan wouldn't be to far out, but who knows*? Wookiee fits, although we have that in Edge. All the species I can think of are big and hairy.

Looks great...now I wanna play a Trailblazer!

Think Heavy, holding off the door from all those sepratists, in Rookies. From the clone wars.

Well, there is a tie-in novel, if I'm not mistaken, so there's the "in" for canon.

ACTUALLY, that's a BlasTech DLT-20a Blaster Rifle

Also known as a 'longblaster' or 'longbarrel'.

Edit: Apparently the frame is the same for the pulse rifle and the longblaster, so it's both. :/

Ohh right.... I just remembered it from battlefront because it's such a silly game.

Huh... so maybe a heavy rifle like the one from DC?

Either way, should be fun!

Dammit! Where's our Bounty Hunter book?

Dammit! Where's our Bounty Hunter book?

That's probably gonna be the last book released ever.

You know, like how the news saves the story of the deer trashing a wal-mart for the last one of the show.

I know, right? Forged in Battle makes two of my main Careers that have sourcebooks. Give me Bounty Hunters!

I agree. They know that everyone is going to want to be a Bounty Hunter after the career book for them comes out so their going to try and publish/sell as many other EotE/AoR career books as possible before that happens. If they had gone with a Bounty Hunter career book FIRST, they'd have sold a hell of a lot fewer career books for EotE (maybe not affect FnD or AoR as much). There'd be Bounty Hunter PC's running around as far as the eye could see. Plus, they are going to sell out of the BH career book fast when it finally does come out.

Possible titles for the Bounty Hunter Career Book?

"No Disintegrations"

"Dead or Alive"

"Any Means Necessary"

"Two Guns, One Shot"

It seems to be a conscious choice to mix 'em up, and to leave the 'sexy' professions until last. And intersperse the combat careers with non-combat ones.

I also feel we got Explorer first because the main career specs were so wanting, but that could just be me.

In general, non-gamers having SW original characters are 95% jedi or otherwise lightsaber/Force users, 3% bounty hunters, 1% smugglers and 1% everything else. I love the way the FFG game makes that last 1% a viable option.

Cheers 2P51.

I doubt it will be last.

I have some guesses.....

You could tell me, but then you'd have to kill me, right? :)

I'd guess that they're all kinda freaky and probably aren't known for military prowess. (The wolf guy in the Cantina was a spy of some kind if I recall)

AoR is essentially 'Star Wars: Furries Edition' :)

Quick question, 2P51, do you have any pets?
