Steps and Rules Clarification for Deploying Shuttle

By Waddlez, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Ok so I have some questions about deploying my shuttle.

1. Do you have to have the shuttles dial set to wherever you want and placed on the table before everyone starts moving to indicate you are going to deploy when your turn comes or can you not even say anything about deploying and just choose to declare your deploying after you move the ghost and right then and there change the dial to wherever you want to move the shuttle?

2. I read some people saying you cant do K turns and some people with messages from FFG saying you can? I think I answer my own question with this since a FFG representative has clarified on it, but why are people fighting about this.

Also I want to use this Chopper crew card, but I have no idea when I would ever want to take a damage just to do an action. Can someone tell me when this would be useful? If it has any use i might as well start throwing it into list, but I am just not seeing it.

1) You set the dial when you say you want to deploy Ghost

2)

Q: Can the Phantom perform a K-turn when undocking? The undocking rules specify "rear guides of the docked ship" which leads me to believe that it cannot do a K-turn when undocking. Thanks! 3. Take the docked ship and place it at the opposite end of the template, sliding the rear guides of the docked ship into the opposite end of the template. This counts as a maneuver. If this maneuver causes the docked ship to overlap an obstacle or another ship, it follows the normal rules for overlapping. If this causes a situation in which the docked ship cannot be placed in the play area, the docked ship is destroyed.
A: The use of the language of “rear guides” is the same language used when explaining how to execute a maneuver. Some maneuvers (such as Koiogran turns) break this rule and use the front guides instead. A deploying ship can choose any maneuver on their dial.

Chopper crew: it's difficult to say exactly when you would and wouldn't use it - but if you have a free crew slot, there's no penalty for taking him, and you can make that decision on a tactical basis when you want to do so.

WOrth noting though that it will rarely if ever be worth using Chopper to get an Evade token.

"Chopper" costing 0, why no bring it if you can. You want an example. You happen to have a full life ship that could do a K Turn to get in the back of a fleeing enemy ship at 2 or 1 hull left, I think it would be worth taking a dmg for taking a Target Lock or Focus action if you have the Lock and making sure you finish this ship...

sorry your answer is a little confusing. Are you saying if you do the K turn maneuver you use the front guides instead of the rear guides?

If you choose a k turn to deploy the Phantom with, you put the 4 straight into the rear guides of the Ghost, then put the front guides of the Phantom into the other end.
