Episode 6 models

By TheEldarGuy, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

With the Leia model being the Episode 5 version; Bespin being notoriously Ep 5; I was thinking what could FF do with Episode 6?

First thought was a Hutt model, but probably not. Something Jabba's Palace related at any rate, with the flip side being Endor.

So a few Scout Troopers, and specifically a Biker Scout. I imagine a model that is 1square X 2squares long. In theory the weapons on the bikes were repeating blaster rifles, so I guess that's one blue and one green with a surge for extra damage, 8 points, 6 wounds, 6 move with a 3 minimum forward, and cops a wound if they run into blocking terrain?

With the walker already here, I'm hard pressed to think of anything else except Ewoks. 6 Ewoks, 6 Scouts, 1 Biker and 2Heroes? Sounds like a box set to me.

I really like the idea of Imperial Assault being before Ep 5, but the wheels of time and progress do move ever forward.

I hope we get the emperor scout trooper and ewoks and i hope a ewok hero :)

It's possible we could get two Return of the Jedi-themed sets, as is happening with ESB. I wouldn't want to overly dwell on Tatooine again, but there's a lot of mileage to be gained from a Hutt/Scum themed wave. A Hutt crime lord, a Rancor, lots of different henchmen possibilities (Gamorreans, Nikto, Weequay, Klatooinians, etc.), and maybe this would be the spot for a Jedi version of Luke. Then there is the Endor-themed side of things. Scout Troopers, Ewoks, maybe Rebel commandos, maybe even Palpatine. The Endor wave would also be a good time for a new version of Han, I think. I don't think a figure on a speeder bike is a good fit because of the size of Imperial Assault maps.

If they decide to split ROTJ into two boxed sets, I'd really like to see the next big box be Jabba's Palace themed but give us a nice nod to Shadows Of The Empire. While the action can begin and end on Tatooine, it's love to see the middle missions give us some Coruscant/city tiles.

Plus I'd love to have one last visit to Tatooine so we could possibly get a Stormtrooper on Dewback.

Small box Endor would likely be a cross between Forest Moon and Death Star 2 tiles. I'm still a bit concerned as to what figures would be included though: 2 Heroes, two squads of Scout Troopers, and then what?? I would think that an Ewok troop would be an ally pack as opposed to a Merc group.

Then Endor needs to be a large box (this might be a great stand-alone set that could be like the Core Set).

I've been dreaming about this, as well!

There's clearly a likelihood for a Tatooine expansion set around Jabba's palace, and I'd love if it featured a Rancor, Jedi Luke, Gamorrean guards, Grans, Weequay, a stormtrooper on a Drawback, etc...

Though, incorporating Shadows of the Empire would be phenomenal. Seeing Dash Rendar would pluck at my heartstrings, and they might as well make Kyle Katarn while they're at it. All the remaining bounty hunters would fit perfectly here, too.

Endor would be a great opportunity to revamp Han and Chewie, or at least update their cards. A squad of scout troopers, some new rebel infiltry. Coming from another topic about Descent's new app, I'm enticed by the idea of unveiling map tiles as players progress - and a forest infiltration campaign is the perfect expansion to implement that mechanic. When entering an area, a tile's effect may be that a Scout Trooper spots you and the players have to stop him before reaching a Swoop bike and escaping; failing to do so causes an additional wave of reinforcements at the end objective or increases the threat for next mission.

I wouldn't want Jabba, Ewoks, or the Emperor in either expansion. The game works best when its plot focusses on the buildup or aftermath of major events like Jabba's death and the ground assault on Endor.

In addition to what Arttemis said, I'm hoping we see a re-vamped Darth Vader. I'd like to see him a little weaker to represent how Luke took him to school at the end of Jedi. Then we might see a Vader that could be used in skirmish.

I'd like to see the Emperor as a Skirmish Upgrade card, an agenda deck and/or a class deck rather than a playable character. He's far too powerful to be made into a character that would fit well anywhere without weakening him. The same thing could be done with Jabba, we already kindof see this idea with "Devious Schemes" command card and the "For the Right Price" Agenda Deck.

I hope we get the emperor scout trooper and ewoks and i hope a ewok hero :)

I would hate it if we got an ewok hero. Because then I would never want to play with anything else. :P Yub Nub.

I like the idea of Jabba and Palpatine being non-figure, influence-based mechanics for the game. Good call, thestag.

Then Endor needs to be a large box (this might be a great stand-alone set that could be like the Core Set).

While I don't hate this idea, I do fear the repetitive nature of it.

Look at everything in the core set: if you simply swapped out the Stormtroopers for Scout troopers, you essentially have an Endor/DSII core set (it even rightly includes Luke & Vader :D ).

If they wanted to give us a new Core Set, throw us a curve ball: Imperial Assault, The Revenge of the Empire. Takes place right after ROTJ but it's Imperial players vs a Rebellion GM. Imperials are reeling from the defeat at Endor and have to undertake missions to unite the fragmented Galactic Empire.

So we all have our dreams, what would they actually look like, component-wise?

Scum & Villainy - Big Box (spans Tatooine & Coruscant)

3 Hero figures (is it too odd to actually want a Jawa hero??)

Weequay Mercenaries (3 figure troop) x2

Gammorian Guards (2 figure troop) x2

Dewback Rider

Sandtroopers (2 figure troop) x2

Villain/Ally packs

Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight

Rancor

4-LOM & Zuckuss

Emperor's Hand (Merc/Imperial unit??)

(Alternately, the Rancor can replace the Dewback Rider in the expansion and Jabba can be a Villain pack - Dewback Rider could just as easily be an unassociated Villain pack like the Bantha Rider.)

If you look at this as an expansion that spans the time between ESB and ROTJ, it can play homage to SOTE but not actually be the same thing. While we do get more desert tiles, this would be a good place to put in more city-scape tiles to add to the variety.

Over-arcing story is gathering intel on the Imperials and attempting to acquire the Death Star II plans (before eventually handing them off to the Bothans). Alternately the storyline could be gathering info on Han's whereabouts to report back to Luke, Leia, et al. Self-contained campaign like RtH.

Start off with a mission or two on Tatooine, move the action to other planets with a strong focus on Coruscant. Characters are being pursued by 4-LOM and Zuckuss as well as the mysterious "Emperor's Hand". Luke shows up in a few missions on Tatooine as he's there building his new lightsaber & getting ready to spring Han from Jabba's Palace.

Stormtroopers, Probe Droids, Imperial Officers are complimented by the Sandtroopers & Dewback Rider in the expansion while the Merc units would compliment the Trandos and Nexu to make an interesting retinue for Jabba's Court You could also technically toss in some of the characters from the Ally/Villian packs from wave 1 since those tokens are in the core set and it's required for playing any expansion so they could show up in the missions. RGC could show up in a Coruscant mission, Chewie could tag along with the heroes and IG-88 could team up with 4-LOM and Zuckuss.

Outer Rim Escape - Small Box (spans Endor Moon & Death Star II)

2 Heroes (I'm on board for an Ewok hero)

Scout Troopers (2 figure troop) x2

Death Star Trooper (2 figure troop) x2

Ally/Villain packs

Chewbacca/General Solo

Ewoks

Scout trooper on Speeder Bike

Rebel Commandos

This one is hard for me to fill out and get Mercs involved. The Rebel Commandos are a must and getting a new Han/Chewie combo is sorely needed. I also really want the Ewoks. I realize they may not be everyone's choice but it's my dream expansion, right??

I'm finding it difficult fill in the Imperials because other than the Scout Troopers, the only other Imperial trooper I can think of that is relatively recognizable is the Death Star trooper and they do show up at the Bunker so they are in. I'm hesitant to use a speeder bike as well considering the speed vs map size argument. I guess we could put 4-LOM & Zuckuss instead and toss Bib Fortuna into their spot in the Big Box expansion and call it a day. My only other issue is that there is not an Imperial "boss" like the other expansions. That might have to take the spot of the Speeder Bike.

I have no idea how this story line would go. While you can make a self-contained Small Box mini-campaign about scouting the forest moon, sneaking into the DSII and getting out with info, I cannot see how those missions would seamlessly integrate into the Core set considering the time frames. This is the one bump to making Endor a Small Box expansion that will really take some ingenious game design to solve.

Thats why I said it, bc at some point, they will introduce us to a "second core" set. Whether its via Endor/DS2 or TFA. But a large based set that will reintroduce a lot of similar content. I foresee Scout Trooper being similar to EWebb or Heavy Trooper, more than Stormtrooper. Stormtroopers will just be Stormtroopers. But I expect the use of more Imperial Officers, some sort of AT-ST character again, Royal Guards, and the introduction of a new Vader and Jedi Luke. I also expect Rebel Commandos that will get hidden and such for rebel figures.

~D

I'm guessing Rebels will be the next "Core Set" if they want to push one out sooner rather than later. I honestly do not see a TFA core set until well after the next movie comes out just so they can have 2 movie's worth of stuff to delve into while awaiting the 3rd movie to hit so they can then tackle it.

Bespin (small) - mid '16

ROTJ act 1 (big) - late '16

ROTJ act 2 (small) - mid '17

Rogue One/Rebels (big) - late '17

TFA Core - mid '18

TFA (small) - late '18

E VIII act 1 (big) - mid '19

E VII act 2 (small) - late '19

E IV - 2020?

If it were up to me, I'd do two sets that were themed for Jedi. One big, one small. I don't know if I want to see a scout trooper on a speeder bike. IA's map size don't lend themselves to vehicles very well, imo. The AT-ST works ok, but they are not fast. Anyway I would like see:

Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight

Rebel Commandos

Scout Troopers

Emperor Palpatine

Zuckuss and 4-LOM (just to create my BH set)

Weequay Mercenaries.

Gran

General Rieekan (gotta have some more leadership)

I'm sure I could think of some more, but that is the essentials. I don't care if Ewoks every come, but I know they will.

Small: Jabba's palace / Jabba's sail barge

Big: Endor

:)

But we need a BigBox next ... I hope for Rebels!!!

Love most of your suggestions but I can see a few other characters for Ally/Villain packs:

Moff Jerjerod or an Admiral Piett type

Bib Fortuna or a mercenary "higher-up"

Bothans?????? jk ;)

I can see some type of Endor beast to be included in the second box set. Maybe I should go back and watch the Ewoks Animated show. No, can't see myself doing that. I would also love to see some imperial and rebel pilots (shot down characters? or maybe just disembarked?). Some other droid options would be nice too.

I almost think it would've been a good idea to save items like the Royal Guards to this set, but... what you gonna do?

I would like the mercs to get s force sensitive figure with Zuckuss and a leader figure in avid or someone like Xizor.

Spoiler: Mak is one of the many bothans that died and will not be playable in the Ep.6 box

GORAX!

GORAX!

I'm not sure the Massive keyword really covers things that big.

I think Jabba's palace would be a good big box, with the Rancor as a big box baddie, and all the assorted mercenaries. Stormtrooper on a dew back and jabba himself as expansions, plus other miscellaneous. I'd like to see one of the musicians from the palace as a model, that boosts scum like C3PO does for rebels.

I don't think the sail barges would have a tile, as IA is best focussed on events that happen beside or around the movie. The theme itself could be infiltrating Jabba's palace and preparing for the recapture of Han Solo, or smuggling Han out after he is rescued. That way Bobafett can be used in the campaign before the events in ROTJ.

Endor only needs to be a small box. We have the jungle and imperial interior tiles to do most of it justice already, and there are not really that many models that need representation - a couple of speeder bikes and scout troopers in the box, and some Ewoks and rebel commandos as blister packs.

It was obvious that Bobes (I can call him Bobes, I've known him for a long time), didn't take the direct route to Tattooine. So the campaign play is immense, right up to the start of Return of the Jedi; there's initially tracking Bobes, there's scouting Nar Shadaa and finally scouting Jabba's palace to find the Carbonite Han.

I'm pretty big on some side elements from Courascant and Nar Shadaa, nice and Star Warsy, but not going to interfere with the story.

From memory, the idea of time between Eps 5 and 6 is about two to three years, realistically, this is as far as I'd like to see it.

With Bespin having the infamous platform tile, I wouldnt be surprised if there was a Sarlaac tile included...

There is only one year between episode 5 and 6. 3 years is between episode 4 and 5.

Happy to be corrected. I thought of it the other way.

Or a sailbarge tile...

Anyone get a feeling the next box may actually be set in the time between ep 5 & 6. A pre-RotJ set. Then Endor

Missions leading up to the stealing (and possibly including) of the Death Star 2 plans?

Death Star 2 tiles for infiltration/captured mission?
