You say National Championship but it says North American Championship on the link. I assume it's North American and we can't use the bye that is earned by winning Regionals?

As a GenCon newbie, do I need any special passes to attend this event or just the $16 entry fee listed above?

I tweeted out to FFGOP yesterday asking if we could use the byes we've earned at Regionals this year at GenCon, just like we did last year.

The answer was yes, but this is the last year they will allow it. I'm thankful I can use the bye, but I really do enjoy GenCon WAY more than Origins, as it has been my go to summer Con for the last 5 years.

Yes you do. GenCon has daily, weekend, and 4 day passes. The 4 day pass is worth it if you can get a hotel decent price. The parking costs are whats annoying.

Please note: the day might actually be Saturday, rather than the Friday that is posted in the Event Listing. FFG OP is going to be seeing if they can get the event moved to Saturday instead.

EDIT: Yes, it's official: the IA Championship is now Saturday. It now shows up that way on the GenCon Event Listing.

Thx, you are right. I've adjusted the first post.

Here's the source thread on Twitter.

I haven't been to Origins or GenCon but I agree with you that GenCon seems nicer (and I'm hoping to go this year).

I can't really justify traveling across the country to two gaming conferences that are only a month or so apart in time and 175 miles apart! Why not have some big events on the coasts (or at least cities that are easy to fly into like Vegas/Dallas/Denver)?

Update: only 46 tickets left as of today. It's filling up!

It looks like we may end up with more players than last year...it think it was 63 or something last year.
