Dashing Vagabonds (LFG Rogue Trader Online Campaign)

By Jaggedjaw, in Rogue Trader

I am currently looking for people who would be interested in playing a game of Rogue Trader online. In order to make things more fair, I will let players have first pick of if they want to be the Rogue Trader or not for staring out, and you are also free to import use character from Only War or Dark Heresy, so long as the player can create a reasonable explanation for how they ended up their. This campaign is open up to players of all skill levels, and actually prefers the creation of characters specifically for this game, though old ones are still allowed so long as a character sheet can be provided.

Until then, thank you for reading, and have a nice day.

What sort of schedule are we looking at for this game? Weekdays? Weekends? Timezone?

Thanks.

More than likely, the meeting day would be Wednesdays at around 15:00 CT, although those times are more or less flexible, and another day of the week could be come to if need be. I would also be available at other varying times for work that is needed on the characters and ships, if need be.

Well I'm certainly interested, although weekends work better for me. If you wanted to run it on a weekday it would have to be later in the evening for me (I'm in Arizona so we are currently running on PST which I believe is 2 hours behind CT). My schedule is currently pretty flexible but that is going to change here fairly soon, hence why weekends are better.

I'll keep an eye on this once you guys get a set time frame setup, obviously don't want to sign on to anything if I can't make the time.

Also what format were you planning on using for this? Roll20? Skype?

At the very least, I'm glad you have shown interest in joining, and I hope we can get even enough people to run a campaign.

Were this to happen on weekends, I could make the game.
I'm from the future (australia) so if it were a weekend I could make a saturday afternoon/evening (your time) game.

I used to get up at 4am on sundays to play RT >_>

I could also be persuaded to play an RT (have done so before and liked it. I enjoyed getting people to have their say in how things went.)

Starting to think that a weekend time would work better, although people would have to be okay with switching between sundays or saturdays depending on what my work is that weekend. If people are, then I would be more than willing to run a weekend time for the games then.

Also, I think I like your dedication to the cause, as I have pulled all-nighters for gaming before.

That should be fine for me, although I suspect we would need to pin down a time for everyone. I've been in games before with people from all over, my most recent I was getting up around 5am for.

I think the best time for me on Saturday, or Sunday, would be either 05:00CT to 08:00CT or 21:30 CT on-wards, as this is the average time when I do now actually have to deal with work. The plus side is I could go longer on certain days where I don't have work to worry about. Would that be appropriate?

21:30 CT Saturday would work great for me, gives me time to do other stuff earlier in the day too, Sundays I could do the 5:00 - 8:00 CT (I assume you mean PM)

I was using the 24 hour time cycle, so it would be in the AM instead of Pm, since it was 05:00CT or 5:00AM. That time would be slightly more reliable for me, but the 21:30CT time works wonders as well.

Ah yes I forgot the conversion, I don't think I could do that time as it would be 3am for me.

We should talk house rules as well.

I presume the standard one is the OW/BC/DH2 combat rules.

Anything else?

Thats midday sunday for me which is more than ample time to recover from a night out if I had one.

Thanks, Rogue Trader seems to be rare these days. Its my favourite of the setting as well.

I should also probably note that I've never actually played the RT system, I've read through the core rules and played some Deathwatch but never RT, so any special house rules like using another systems combat rules I will need some instruction on.

I played one character for close to 4 years. plus several others. Any questions feel free to ask.

the BC.OW/DH2 combat rules pertain to Single Shot/Burst/Full Auto being +10/+0/-10 to your roll respectively. Same goes for Single Melee/Swift/Lightning attacks.

I would also like to note that I have a preference for start with moderately low PF and a larger vessel. a Dynasty at its low point when the PCs come into power to rebuild the family.

So Light Cruiser or Cruiser hull, but still enough PF that if we have a Seneschal we can make acquisition rolls for decent gear.

If there is room, i would also like to join as well.

I have a friend that may be willing to join. knows the system really well, better than me in fact.

Thanks, that actually does help me out a lot. I was also thinking of having the ship be an older one for a family, although I was thinking of having it be of the maze type with parts of the ship simply abandoned since there are traps no one rembers how to turn off in there. I could just use that as a ship the players encounter instead, and make a new one entirely.

Come on board, join us Dashing Vagabonds.

Oen thing about the Dynasty and the ship, thats really the players to create as a cooperative venture before the game.

The Dynasty itself tends to get most input from the Rogue Trader Player themselves as you know its their characters background.

The Ship, thats like a another Player Character that is controller by the group. I've had GM's jack with my ship and it left a bad taste. as it was "this is whats happening." not "So I was thinking of." kind of like someone telling me a legally made character can't have X or Y.

The Tenebro Maze is a great feature on a ship for repelling boarding parties and making it a house of death.

I'm also happy to keep track of the Ships stats as I have a customer made Ship sheet from a previous game that I made to keep track of all the stuff on the ship. I'll happily post the PDF'd version of the Ship as we build it up/for the start of play so everyone has access to it.

Awesome. as for the ship, i believe that is an easy compromise, just state it has to be of LC class or bigger, and must have a maze on board then leave the rest up to us to flesh out. Personally, I like torpedoes...nothing announces your dynasties greatness like having a wave of boarding torpedoes all carrying servitor marching bands to make sure you have a proper welcome when you board the enemy ship.

We need to go through the Warrant of Trade creation path at some stage too, that really determines Light Cruiser or Cruiser.

Do you have a preference for Career yet?

Sorry, I was thinking about more in person character creation than the online style, so I am used to being more involved in the creation of ships and characters than that.

I think we should try switching to pms and hangouts in order to better record the writing up of the warrant of trade. We can still do it here, but this might make it a little harder to work out the nitty gritty details of the whole thing.

It would probably be better to do some kind of group chat to work out everything, otherwise we are going to be going back and forth between conversations to figure out what everyone is doing.
