So I can use Comm Relay to combo Juke with Sensor Jammer better. Better throw on a regen droid while i'm at it.
Should the Defender and Phantom also have access to this new upgrade slot somehow?
What are your thoughts on this tech slot?

I prefer it staying on the TFA-period ships, reducing the need to chase more expansions of ridiculously-derivative models just to buy cards for ships I *do* like...
I can see it on the E-wing but I wouldn't want to see it anywhere else off of the TFA ships.
Yes.
It has a tech slot, they just called it a systems slot.

I think I agree. Hmm...
Corran Horn (35)
+ FCS (2)
+ Juke (2)
+ Comm Relay (3)
+ R2-D2 (4)
Hella offense, but 46 points with only 5 (regenerating) health!

Yes, because Corran needs more regeneration power.
Corran Horn with more regeneration is disgusting...at least it makes him more expensive, but I dont think that expense will make the difference...nor balance him.
Plus if the regular Ewing gets a tech slot, then, yay more expense to already way to costly ships. Now if they got a title similar to the Tie Advanced 1, and they got the tech slot for cheaper than normal that would make it worth it on an Ewing, but then corran Horn would benefit too much.
If anything a droid that gives a tech slot, and is Ewing only could be an answer...especially if said tech slot was cheape rthan normal...this could make people want to take the Comms Rela on Ewings, and make the Ewing quite good, but Corran Horn would NOT take it if he wanted regen.
Edited by knaveleadthen I'd like 2 system slots on the VCX
x1 style, absolutely... Just keep it out of Regen Corran's reach without limiting options otherwise.
Ends up coming to be very close to the t70, and makes Corran pretty awesome, but pumps their costs up further and doesn't do a lot for the generics. I think E-wings need an out of the box solution.
Ravncat, take a look at what I suggested, it stops Corran Horn from choosing to do this, and might even make CorranHorn players think about it (though i'm sure R2-D2 wins out in most cases), and doesnt increase cost if you make it a generic astro that is Ewing only, and lets you take a tech slot upgrade for 3 or so points cheaper, to a minimum of one (or something else similar to the TIE X1 Title.
I admit it does make it similar to the T-70, though the T-70 doesnt really take coms relay, since only one pilot so far can get use of it.

a tech slot and -4 points

I also think tech should stay as an era specific slot.
So what about the prequel era factions? How about artifact slots for Republic and CIS factions?
My sense is that the Tech slot should stay in the TFA era, _except_ that I would be happy to see it on either the E-Wing or the StarViper.
If the E-Wing does get the Tech slot, though Corran ends up at an effective 1 point discount. Thinking of Coms Relay as a 3 point regenerating shield, and R2D2 as a 4 point shield regeneration card, *shrug* Corran gets slightly better.
Btw: the Sensor Jammer + Juke + Coms Relay is terrifying to think about.
The StarViper doesn't really benefit from either of the 2 released Tech upgrads. But I have confidence that at some point there would be something good in that slot (no Evade action, and Weapons Guidance is not worth 2 points. Not even on Guri) for the SV. If we _do_ see the Tech slot on a StarViper, I'd prefer to see the ship lose its Torpedo slot rather than its title or modification slot. Give generics some love while also letting the Virago title shine.

Series IV E-wing is in the roughly the same era (might even be a good name for the title).
Do we care if corran gets better regen? Two torpedoes will take him off the board regardless. Wampa and advanced homing don't care about his shields. Stresshog will prevent him from evading for two turns. And so on.
I may be wrong, but it's my sense that corran hasn't really kept pace with palp aces. So if he gets a bit of a buff, it's not the end of the world. Especially in our bold new alpha strike meta

That would be cool, have the title do something, again your idea of a Series IV Ewing title...but not granting a tech slot...we really do nt need Corran Horn running with one and his current build.
And then having a droid that gives the Tech slot- and that itis Series IV Ewing only.
Say this:
Series IV E-wing: Your fighter .....????
Upgraded R7 Astromech (or even R8 Astromech): Series IV E-wing only. 0points.
Your upgrade bar gains the Tech Slot. All Tech upgrades are -3 points to a minimum of 1 point.
This is my current best fix for the E-wing.
A free tech upgrade (maybe a point restriction to future proof against powerful tech) if you take a non-unique astromech.

I think I read your post as heavily tongue-in-cheek, BUT...
...well, yeah .
If FFG *does* dip into the prequel area, I certainly hope they would introduce a new 'Jedi-mastery' upgrade slot for the ship-pilot combinations from that period, which lets them bring in a few new abilities that could not be used elsewhere.

Same era but different universe. For better explanation see instructional video below.
Hey if they can add Star Wars style mindless action into Star Trek, why not add Star Trek style irrelevant tehcnobabble into Star Wars?
Now if E-wings and K-wings ever made it into Episode 8 (highly doubt it) I could see a title that gives E-wings a tech slot. However until then I think EU is out of TFA stuff. Think of them as the secret weapons of WW2 that never made it into the war but that doesn't stop us from putting them in our WW2 Videogames!
I wonder if people use this equation -
If x= I like this ship, then x= YES
If x=I do not like this ship the x=NO
As people have stated that upgrade would make Horn even more Hornier which kills balance, but the E Wing needs something to make it playable with other pilots. There is only one pilot people use which normally spells problems for developers.
While that's good... Its also... Kind of dumb to play against and really boring.
What the Ewing needs is for the designers to wake up and realize that they can't just make generics good efficient jousters, as that simply becomes a race of which ship is the most efficient jouster. They need to do different things. Enable synergies, etc.

You've got Poe flying alongside Miranda vs. Juno and the Inquisitor; I fail to see much strength in your argument.
Yeah, sorry Marinealver, that argument is quite bad. not the same universe so the tech doesnt upgrade...especially since its the same game we are playing and at least it is the same era.
Now if there were restrictions on stuff in the game, like no Emperor with any TIE/FO's, or no Tie Defenders if you are also using the Tie Advanced Prototype (since they'd of been phased out by then), or no E-wings or K-wings with T-70s (as said above by GreatMaziinkaiser), then your argument would hold water. But there are no such rules or restrictions so your argument is invalid.
At least the Ewing is of the right era to have the Tech Slot, and its not like we are wanting to see FFG giving it to something such as the Z-95
