Does anybody know how much longer it should be until this is released?
Wild Fury (News on Stewards of the Secret: H&M Pack)
I wish they hadn't re-used the D1ed models fro the Farrow Clan, their new artwork from Heirs of Blood makes them look so bad ass, and the artwork for Merrick from that Kindred Fire Promo is awesome.
I'm glad they reused the miniatures, it lets me use the metal D1e lieutenant miniatures.
For those that already had 1st Ed that's great no doubt. But wouldn't you be cheesed at having to but the exact same miniature for the plot deck?
They've done such a great job with the new minis from 1st Ed to 2nd Ed I wish they would've done the same for the Farrows.
The farrows are a special case, a legacy from the original runebound, it's fine that they were untouched. It makes them special.
I just with that more 1st edition lieutenants made it into d2e.

I agree. Perhaps they're yet to come?

It would be nice if they brought back sweetheart, who wouldn't want to fight a giant crocodile?
With a name like that I'd love to 'rassle him/her!
These Blood Apes tho...
Double Leap Attack, say whaaaaaaa...
Edited by LuijodDouble Leap attack? I though abilities that include an attack could also be performed only once per monster activation?
Edit: nvm didn't read the ravage!
Edited by Atom4geVampireMMM... that rich, tasty Ravage...
Those master Blood Apes with the double Leap Attack capability are just brutal. Combine this with like a Word of Misery setup... a Dash here, a Dark Might there, a Critical Blow...
~Let the bodies hit the floor!~
I view the apes as an inverse of the Volucrix Reavers. The Reavers are really solid in Act I, but scale quite badly into Act II. The Blood Apes are outclassed by more numerous B+R groups from Act I, but are truly devastating in Act II.
This nicely rounds out the Overlord's complement of all-out-aggressive melee critters.

Is this still not out in the states?
Re blood apes: Yes that removal of once per turn limit has been great, dash, leap, leap gets my group every time I've used them so far. I hide the master somewhere in the middle of the group and they assume he won't be able to reach the heroes so they pile in ready for the normal one to get through. Surprise dash and 8 attacks is so satisfying.
Edit: Oh I'm also using Valyndra's deck, not the best deck out there I know but getting crush on some weaklings is fun. Massive bulk also gets rid of heroes being able to block the master monster from Leaping at the cost of some health.
Edited by DavachidoI'm in the US, amazon says it will be in stock May 23.
Edited by ZaltyreHuh... I didn't realize that Nanok backwards sounds like Conan.
His Hero sheet looks amazing. Still curious about Karnon and Steelhorn from SoE, how they will perform.
I'm in the US, amazon says it will be in stock May 31.
Not even FFG Store has them in stock...It still says "Not yet released"
Edited by VolkrenThat's weird maybe we got our boat first? It's currently on sale on UK amazon.
Odd. Amazon US has two entries for Stewards of the Secret. One says it is "Curretly Unavailable" and the other says "In Stock May 23". Price is currently listed as full MSRP. No third party sellers are listed so the FFG/ANA hammer must of come down hard on all of them. Oh well, CSI and MM list it for $5 off.
BTW, previous H&M packs are going for around $23-$24 on Amazon. So we shall see how ANA/FFG's anti-online sales policy affects their products on Amazon going forward.
They need to stop monkeying around and release this H&M.
All the game stores here in Richmond VA have stopped carrying Descent entirely. I have to pay full MSRP in order for them to order that stuff. Nope! HELLO AMAZON!
Hello!
Quick question.
Would the blood ape master be able to perform the Leap Attack action twice?
Thanks in advance.
Assuming the text hadn't changed much, no. It is a monster action containing an attack. You also could not use "Frenzy" to let him do a second "Leap attack".
EDIT: Forgot "Ravage." With that, yes, unless leap attack is otherwise limited by its own text (limit once per round, etc).

Explain please. I haven't heard about this.
Update: I just google searched this subject. I had no idea that this was occurring.
Look, I really enjoy playing Descent but I'm sorry I just can't justify paying $40 for a Hero and Monster pack when previously I was able to get them for closer to $23-25. I've purchased several of the H&M's for $23-25. If Asmodee jacks up all their prices then I'm sorry but I'm done.
This is something that has really annoyed me about my local gaming store. When I first got into Descent I went to my local gaming stores first. They both had D2E base listed at $90. I then looked on Amazon and found it for $49. I called my local game store and told the owner, "Look, I'm a reasonable guy. I would much rather support you than amazon but we're talking a difference of $41. I asked him if he would take $60 or even $65 and he said no. I told him, "a fool and their money are soon parted" - why would I ever pay you an extra $40 when I can get it so much cheaper? You won't even budge. I would much rather support you but you're giving me no choice." (paraphrasing obviously)
Does that make me a jerk?

Yes, they can, because of the ravage skill.

So did I, and wow, that explains almost EVERYTHING. I thought there was something else going on (star wars getting in the way, etc) but the corporate reshuffle is now looking like the major cause for delay of the release of Bilehall (advertised release Q4 2015, released Q1 2016) and what has felt like a long wait between announcement and release of the last couple H&M packs (not to mention the limited number of amazon sellers). Maybe it's just my perception, but the ANA changeover has not been great to D2E. Hopefully that's just a short term effect. No third party sellers are listed so the FFG/ANA hammer must of come down hard on all of them. There was a lot of delay on the lotr lcg as well, we were growing jealous of the constant GoT stuff. I'm not sure if it's related, though I could see a reshuffle delaying a lot of things while they focus on management. Wasn't stewards meant to be Q1 and the next one (forget the name) supposed to be Q2?
I think it was a mixture of a new star wars film and wanting to hold many new products back until after the new rules came into effect.

Nope it doesn't make you a jerk, you were willing to pay extra to support your local game store which is a great thing.
A $41 difference is huge, the new FFG policy is designed to reduce that by forcing the online stores to increase prices. If the difference was only $10-$15 then you would have been more willing to pay the extra and buy from the local store.

No not at all. It's not just 40$ more, it's effectivly double the price, a 100% price increase, or even 10% above the MSRP. The fact that you don't think the game has a value that equals 90$, doesn't make you a jerk.
I'm very curious how this new pricing policy will affect FFG as a whole and it's at least a risky gamble for FFG I'm kind of unhappy about. I know that if I had to pay full or above MSRP for all FFG games (which seems to be 100$ per game now), I wouldn't even have gotten one and never would have started buying into their games as much as I did, never bought all these expansions and so on.
In other words FFG decided to up the entry bar at which you can acquire their games, which means FFG will see less and less enthusiastic new customers and even the old customers will hesitate more to buy into their brand new games. Case in point: Frobidden Stars; I thought I would by this at launch if it's in the -65€ range, which it was not, hence I never played it and I'm not interested in it anymore, because -well- I only know that a game that is supposed to have 100$ value has to be a game I know I will love, play often and know how long it takes ME to play the game. So far only Imperial Assault was of that value to me, because I know how much I like Descent and since it's basically a dumbed down Descent in Star Wars universe, I knew my friends would like it. Did I say I got Descent for 42€ second hand, would have never initially invested 90€ and since then bought a lot of expansions (1 big box, 2 small boxes, 2 H&M sets) at regular MSRP, which I would have never done if I hadn't got the chance to get the core game for those 42€. I also never would have bought IA and the Return to Hoth for MSRP if I hadn't gotten into Descent in the first place, the same which can be said for Runebound 3 (which I bought once it was slightly cheaper than MSRP).
I dont' know the maths, but imo FFG made much more profit off me, because the entry bar for their games was quite low. Fun fact is that I only started to visit FLGS when I already owned some Descent stuff, so basically the internet sold me on the game and not the FLGS and the internet and online stores made me approach FLGS.
So basically this is FFG's gamble: People will buy more FFG products, if they buy games at FLGS and people buy more games at FLGS, if people can't go to online retailers for heavy discounts. If people have to pay more for FFG games, they won't be getting less FFG games, as people who can only afford discounted FFG games, make FFG less profit than all the people who don't care about price in principal and only buy these games at a discount, because that's how consumerism in 21th century works.
So FFG bets that they will profit more, if more people buy their games at FLGS (even if a the total number of people who buy FFG games goes down as an effect). Keep in mind that FFG does not profit more from FLGS MSRP sales, than they do from discounted online retailer sales. I think after this policy change they will effectivly profit more from online sales.
The fact that they total ignore the concept of entry price, the fact that value is subjective and changes based on expectations (formed by past expiriences)... well let's say I have seen more promising business moves.
