Those master Blood Apes are not kidding around. Leaping twice with 4 speed, RBB in act II plus 2 for surge. Daaaayyyumm!
Wild Fury (News on Stewards of the Secret: H&M Pack)
They need to stop monkeying around and release this H&M.
I think I love you!
No third party sellers are listed so the FFG/ANA hammer must of come down hard on all of them. So we shall see how ANA/FFG's anti-online sales policy affects their products on Amazon going forward.
Explain please. I haven't heard about this.
Update: I just google searched this subject. I had no idea that this was occurring.
Look, I really enjoy playing Descent but I'm sorry I just can't justify paying $40 for a Hero and Monster pack when previously I was able to get them for closer to $23-25. I've purchased several of the H&M's for $23-25. If Asmodee jacks up all their prices then I'm sorry but I'm done.
This is something that has really annoyed me about my local gaming store. When I first got into Descent I went to my local gaming stores first. They both had D2E base listed at $90. I then looked on Amazon and found it for $49. I called my local game store and told the owner, "Look, I'm a reasonable guy. I would much rather support you than amazon but we're talking a difference of $41. I asked him if he would take $60 or even $65 and he said no. I told him, "a fool and their money are soon parted" - why would I ever pay you an extra $40 when I can get it so much cheaper? You won't even budge. I would much rather support you but you're giving me no choice." (paraphrasing obviously)
Does that make me a jerk?
No way brother, you were more than reasonable. Anyone else would've asked the guy to match the price, that's just business. He just let a potential customer slip past his greedy li'l fingers. His loss, your gain.
I agree that there's a point where supporting a gaming store financially is just viable or advised. I'll buy small items, where the mark-up is in the single digits (like a couple dollars), but anything higher I'll have to get online. Speaking in a generalized sense, not everyone can afford all the product that gets released for a given line at the time it's released for full price. If I wait till I can afford retail amounts for product, then I'll always be behind. At least if I buy online at a discount, I can be using new material as it arrives.
Those Blood Apes look ridiculously good. Double leap or leap and attack? Clusters of Heroes are going to get hosed. I'm disappointed with Nanok. Black die in Act I is definitely good, but by Act II, without the right gear, he's getting squashed. Even with his push ability. I'd rather take a more reliable fighter with armor throughout.

I disagree. While he's certainly not the toughest hero around, I think he'd make a great skirmisher. He'd also be a pretty good Marshal, and he could be a really interesting champion as well.

Cloak of Deception, Baron's Cloak, Ironbound Shield are Nanok's best friends... Ability says nothing about Cloaks.
Being able to move any small monster 1 space could be invaluable in certain situations, either helping to set up a chain for combos or simply removing an obstacle on the way to an objective. I think Nanok would do well in any Warrior Class as long as he can get his hands on one of those Cloaks and/or Shield during Act 2.
Edited by LuijodThe original Namok at least had the option to wear armor, while this one does not. I see that as a huge loss and makes him overly dependent on item draw.
I can't base my characters on whether or not they pull the right item.

For Act 1, the black die is probably all you need- no requirement for a draw. At the end of act 1, you can pick any cloak you want to buy. In Act 2 you'll be dependent on draws, but so is everyone.
Right, but no one has a built in "you can't use this" function of this magnitude. Now we're limiting how effective Nanok's card draws are in Act II.

I think it's fine. There is no other warrior or hero at all with good health and a built in black die. Furthermore I think it's very fitting thematic wise that nanoC won't fight in armor and can only wear cloaks if anything, being extremely strong in the beginning and kind of luck dependent in act II.
I'm very confident that nanoC is now blananced, because while still being extremely hard to kill in the beginning he won't have something ridiculous like 2 black defense dies in act II.
Well,
Now that we have heard from other sources about Nanok, this new news won't be so impressive; however, here it is, the third news of Sterwards of the Secret: H&M Pack:
Hungry for Battle: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/5/20/hungry-for-battle/
Well since Nanok has been revealed, which Warrior Hero (not from Conversion kit) do you guys think that tops now?
My top 5.
Mordrog from Guardians of Deephall (Abusive hero ability, being a Knight for tankyness of 14 health at start, defend your ally and takes hit, will recover Stamina, good Heroic Feat as well)
Class: For a 4/14/4 stats, pretty much any role, but:
Defensive Knight with Defend as said above
Beastmaster with Stalker so Mordrog and Wolfie can block a small path together (Unless monster with Fly or Scamper can pass through, as well as forced movement).
One-Fist from Shards of Everdark (Getting yellow dice for only equipping 1-hand weapon is good. Getting a "hand" of Exotic Trident on act1 and go nuts. Sure he got 10 health, but once defeated, his Heroic Feat will make him dunk like Darius.)
Class: Offensive Knight, Beastmaster.
Sir Valadir from Vision of Dawn (can buy a Surge after a roll is good if you have enough of Stamina.)
Class: Champion for token generator, Knight.
Nanok of the Blade (although he can't buy L.Armor or H.Armor, He can use Cloak that gives good effect, plus having a black die and crazy Heroic feat is meant for him to attack, Moving a small one aside for making his team advance forward)
Class: Beastmaster, Skirmisher, Offensive Knight. Berserker
Alys Raine from Manor of Ravens
Class: Marshal. nuff said
Edited by CaporaiPersonally, I like Syndrael the best of the remaining warriors. Her heroic ability is decent/situational, but her heroic feat is incredible and game winning in many situations. It is two free actions (most heroics award maybe 1, 1.5), and move actions are 100% consistent barring overlord interference, unlike attacks. This consistency means I can count on her. Getting to the objective is always better than killing monsters, too.
She has a very solid stat distribution as well.
The Warriors mentioned are all good as well. I am a fan of Mordrog as a Knight, and Talia is good in that role as well. Overall I am pretty happy with the state of warriors - lots of good options. I wish Mages were in a better situation. I feel there are only a handful that are good, and some are really bad.

The only thing wrong with warriors at the moment is that the selection for Marshal is so limited (if you're going for the knowledge skills) then you've only got one real option, which is Alys. No other warrior has 4 knowledge. 3 others have 3 knowledge but you could say that's suboptimal. That really limits the choices. Here's hoping that the hybrid class for mages will allow the selection of a warrior deck. That would open a ton of options! (And maybe make some mages more viable? )

Lyssa anyone?

I'm pretty sure the Battlemage class will give Mages access to warrior skills. It would make no sense to allow Grisban the Thirsty to be a battlemage but not Jaes the Exile. I'm predicting that Healers will multi class with Mages and Warriors will multi-class with Scouts.

Almost the same conclusion. Warriors carrying staves not seem very appropriate
Xrossbones, not that I have any better idea, but didn't you just say two different things? If Mages get warrior skills, how will they multiclass with healers?

Read again. He is saying: Healers multiclass with Mages, not the inverse
Edited by kraistoAh, now I see. Thanks. I hadn't considered asymmetric pairings.

Minis look brilliant !
It is getting better and better !
Edited by TintagliaSeems that Nanok is helping an airplane to land. I didn't like the axes
Oh kraisto you saucy devil you...
I think Nanok looks great, big burly Conan man to round out our Heroes. Love the wolf mount, love that trick to get Seer Kel to "float".
Monster sculpts looking epic. Nagas and Ferrox are way better than the 1st Ed counterparts, and those Blood Apes have been eating their spinach.
They look intimidating, "you even lift brah?" *Gorilla Roar*
Hybrid Classes:
Warrior to Healer - Paladin (or some other similar name, Sentinel, Guardian?)
Scout to Mage - Arcane Archer or Rune Archer?
Warrior to Mage - Rune Knight
They could come up with combinations for all 4 archetypes, with better names than mine.
I doubt the 4 advertised will be the only ones, we'll probably see all possible combos in the future.

Yes, we will see some more, but I believe they do not do all the combinations . The hybrids need at last some coeherence with the heroes stats, abilities and feats . For example, warrior multiclass with mages can be problematic because the low stamina off the warriors heroes. But who knows ? One of these days I 'll test some combinations to see how it looks for fun .
Betting this for the first ones: Mage + Warriors, Healers + Mages, Warriors + Scouts.
Healers + Warriors or Warriors + Healers can be nice and Scouts + Mages.
And I waiting for this H&M pack too, awesome minis.
Edited by kraistoAnyone know what ax weapon card uses? What does he roll for damage?
