Shortest life span ever

By Stenun, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Poor old Carolyn Fern is confronted by the mythos card that forces the first player to draw an Innsmouth Look card. She draws and ... she's devoured.

So I randomly pick her replacement character and end up with Patrice Hathaway. Get her figure out of the box, set her up, start of the next turn she's in play.

The mythos card for that turn comes along, opening a gate and adding what turns out to be the 9th Doom Token on Ghatanathoa's Doom Track.

Patrice gains five clue tokens. But because she gained multiple Clue Tokens at once, she now has to pick a random Visage Token from Ghatanathoa's sheet. Anyone want to guess what happened next? :-)

I'm guessing that you didn't flip over the Visage token that shows a picture of an ice cream cone.

At least Patrice made it through her turn. I posted here this last summer about the game we played where I was devoured by the Innsouth Look mythos on the setup Mythos card. It's always amazing when investigators show up just to be devoured (kinda like some characters in horror books and movies).

And I had Ghatanothoa devour First Player Rex Murphy, because the pre-game "Strange Sightings" Mythos Card and his own Special Ability forced him to gain two Clues before the game started. From Investigator Selection, poor Rex lasted six minutes.

Yeah, poor Rex really doesn't fare well against Ghatanothoa.

My shortest lifespan was second round, Wendy meets Ithaqua in the Plateau of Leng. She didn't carry a weapon... The game was against Glaaki with Father Dagon as herald; I guess those two found it hilarious.

She was not meant to be, ouch lol. Did you end up winning the game though?

No, after losing 11 clue tokens (five from Wendy, two each from the other investigators due to Father Dagon), an Elder Sign and a Unique Item and a Spell from each investigator due to the Servants (that one could have been worse, I admit), I didn't manage to get the speed I needed. Since I don't consider final battles, I was just too lazy to roll the battle in the end.

Tibs,

I've never laughed so hard at a thread I actually choked on my glass of wine.

Thank you!

The Professor

We had a hideous game where one guy when through 3 investigators. He started with the sailor who died on turn one when he drew the Innsmouth encounter card involving a capsized boat. That was pretty funny since he was a doomed character to start with ...
