Scum-31 need help.

By GeryonAndOn, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys, so I'm looking at running a Twin Firespray-31 list for scum soon since i havent actually got a chance to use either these ships or the scum faction much if at all and was hoping to put together a decent list for them..

This is what im running with so far...

So basically the Mandalorian Merc tries to stay back whilst double focussing and hitting with the HLC. He passes focus through the mind link to Boba who can then use this "free" focus to Gonk/adjust dice/etc.

With this one i have planned it to use boba as the main brawler whilst the mandalorian does his thing...

Anyway im not sure if i explained it correctly but im sure you can see what im going for.

Let me know your thoughts yeah?

I love seeing the Mindlink in action. That being said, it sounds like all you are having the merc do is tag with HLC and pass focus through Mindlink. That's not enough for a 49 point investment, especially when a Tansarii Point Veteran can do the same thing for 27 points. Also, packing Experimental Interface on a Mindlinked ship is inviting disaster. As much as possible, stress should be avoided. And especially with the meta starting to have a higher interest in inflicting stress, I think EI should go. I would suggest an Engine Upgrade instead. Gonk as well, unfortunately. I know people are trying to fit him in places, but I think crew slots are very valuable, and a double action recovery just seems overpriced for the benefit and to take up the crew slot. Stealth Device might seem good, but you will likely get more mileage out of a hull upgrade. Recon Specialist isn't as great on a Mindlink setup, unless you use it on Palob. I would suggest Outlaw Tech. It makes it so that even if you use a red maneuver because the situation calls for it, you are passing stress to your Mindlink buddy, but with this, you are also passing focus to him (and gaining one yourself.) This can be especially important when you are expecting your opponent to bump, and need to ensure you have focus available. So, here is my suggestion for a modified list:

Boba Fett (Scum) — Firespray-31 39

Attanni Mindlink 1

"Mangler" Cannon 4

Dengar 3

Engine Upgrade 4

Ship Total: 51

Mandalorian Mercenary — Firespray-31 35

Attanni Mindlink 1

Heavy Laser Cannon 7

Outlaw Tech 2

Hull Upgrade 3

Ship Total: 48

Mangler helps give you some crits, and takes away the range 3 bonus when that comes into play. The main goal is to get into range 1 to take advantage of his ability, and to shoot 4 dice. Dengar is there to help reroll misses. Having the huge possibility of focus every turn through the Mindlink, it helps increase your damage potential quite a bit.

These are only suggestions, of course. The biggest thing is learning how to fly with Mindlink. If the merc is doing a red maneuver, make sure that Boba is doing a green to clear that stress and get an action in that turn.

If the reason for the list is the Mindlink, I suggest you change ships. Attanni lists require at least one pilot that passively generates tokens as your engine (Guri, Palob or Manaroo come to mind).

For a TwinSpray, I recommend the following:

Boba Fett (39):

  • Veteran Instincts (1)
  • Engine Upgrade (4)
  • Gunner (5)
  • Glitterstim (2)

Total: 51 pts

Kath Scarlet (38):

  • Veteran Instincts (1)
  • Engine Upgrade (4)
  • Dengar (3)
  • Glitterstim (2)

Total: 48 pts

Boba is a CQC monster. Boost him in, pop G-stim, pound something (if you miss, Gunner carries you through), re-roll like a boss, get out unscathed.

Kath is a wrecking ball. Point her rear to your target, pop G-stim, fire tons of dice, re-roll with Dengar, smoke something.

1-pt bid against Poe or for Kath.

As far as flying Firesprays go (because they're difficult to fly well), you can't go wrong with this.

I played this list for a time (Kath with k4+PTL), finally, I changed K4+PTL by IV+Dengar for Kath and Gunner by tactician + cluster missiles or bombs for boba

The reason for the list wasnt actually using the Mindlink i just kinda liked the look of it and wanted to explore its mechanic. That being said, ill definitely have to look into Guri, Palob or Manaroo for its use so thanks for the suggestion =)

This looks like a fairly solid build and gives me a chance to check out a few of my newer cards and characters so ill definitely have to check this out.

Seeing as you can use Bob and Kath with Imperial as well however, i think it would be interesting were there a way to simulate Dengar and something interesting to use in the place of the Glitterstim... But then again i do have a DoomBob build i was thinking of running for the imps to check out the imperial bob... (Doomshuttle+Bobafett)

Thanks heaps for your input and suggestions guys its always really helpful.

Closest thing to Dengar or Glitterstim for Imps is Agent Kallus.
