Fantasy Football Style X Wing League?

By dwoodruff, in X-Wing

So this may already be a thing but...I recently began thinking about fantasy football for the upcoming year and my draft strategy. I don't care much about fantasy football this year because I have become addicted to this game during this off season. So, my thought was to combine the two. What if you sat down with say 12 guys and you had to draft pilots and upgrade cards? So on your turn you select a pilot or an upgrade and then you are the only person who gets that card for the season. I then thought you should have to build an imperial, rebel and scum squad for the season. Each player would number their squads 1, 2 or 3 and at the beginning of each league match you flip up a random number and that's the squad you play for that game.

It would be cool to size up your opponent knowing which upgrades and pilots he has.You would see cool new builds as it would likely be tough to draft Soontir and PTL. Plus the draft would be crazy fun!

What do people think? Is this already a thing? Any interest in a league like this?

Drafting for X-Wing gets suggested about once a month around here. I've yet to see anyone come up with a comprehensive ruleset for it and report actual success. The limitations of things like upgrade slots, factions, and point costs make it much harder to make sense out of an X-Wing draft than a Magic or Fantasy Football draft.

Sure! Sounds interesting :D.
