What upgrade card to remove with Boba Fett?

By IG88E, in X-Wing

I know it often depends on the situation, but lets say for thebfirst attack: What upgrade card would you remove for example when facing:

A:

Deadeye to prevent counterattack in that round?

Or rather R4 mech or guidance chips? Torpedoes?

(I tend to deadeye but not sure)

B:

And for Soontir?

Push the limit or autothrusters?

C:

Darth Vader

Engine Upgrade or Advanced Targeting Computer?

D:

Brobot

Autorthrusters or HLC or FCS/AS?

Edited by IG88E

This is really easy.

Deadeye cuts off the neat combo chain. Soontir without PTL is a tie fighter. Vader without the ATC is prefix Vader, and isn't good. You wanna kill the HLC from the brobot. Cut its effectiveness.

A: Deadeye. No torpedo this round and you have to rely on target locks

B: PTL. -2 tokens each turn.

C: ATC, then ignore for the rest of the game. The advanced without ATC or Accuracy Corrector is a joke.

D: Most situational. HLC if B is on the table, but if he's gone, killing FCS starts to look attractive.

D) title?

Edit. Only if you're not facing b somehow. Otherwise cannon.

Sounds good..."all of it." ;)

If only Boba Fett was on a certain TIE/sa pilot's TIE shuttle, with calc or merc copilot. Huehuehue

the more important question is

RAC:

Predator, engine, vader, rebel captive, gunner

Good question. For me, probably engine upgrade when having many low PS ships, or rebel captive when having an ace

Why would you get rid of Deadeye when you can just remove the blasted Torpedo? It makes Deadeye useless. If you just remove Deadeye, then they can just grab a TL and still fire. If you remove the Torpedo, you make him waste Extra Munitions, as well. So, he spent 3-4 pts on a Torpedo, then 1 on Deadeye, and 2 more on Extra Munitions that is now totally worthless by removing the Torpedo card.

I played a vassal game last night and my opponent had this choice:

Dengar lands crit(first hull damage) on Chopper. Chopper had just double-stressed with TLT/tact.

Chopper:

TLT

Tactician

Hera

Ion projector

FCS

Even the ion projector was a threat due to position. He went with the TLT. I might have gone Hera, but really any of the upgrades besides ion projector would have been a solid choice.

I think most of us believe that "removing the torpedo" would just trigger extra munitions text.

Why? That's not what the cards say happens. Fett clearly says that the ship he is on is the one that discards the card. EM munitions only triggers when the ship with it equipped is instructed to discard a card. Without an FFG ruling that says otherwise, I think you need to go with the wording on the cards.

We had a discussion about this at my local store last week. Player A had Extra Munitions and bombs on Miranda and Player B landed a crit and had Boba Crew. The text on Extra Munitions reads that when instructed to discard a card discard a token instead. Furthermore, because Extra Munitions has the Torpedo symbol you are technically supposed to place a token on the card as well which gives the Extra Munitions card Boba protection.

He'd still need to be discarded. Bren's ability only works on EPTs.

It seems like this question had to come up at Hoth. Surprised it isn't in FAQ already.

By that reasoning R7 should work on Omega Leader. It doesn't per FAQ. There are a couple similar examples where it says "you" do something to their cards but you really don't. They do.

The R7 thing with Omega Leader isn't in the FAQ. It's from an email ruling from FFG. If that ruling applies here, I think it actually supports Extra Munitions not being triggered when Fett discards a card since it says that the player performing the physical action required (rerolling the dice) is not the source of the modification.

No abilities that involve rerolling your opponent’s dice have you roll them. Instead, we only phrase it with you choosing dice and your opponent rolling them. This is you modifying your opponents dice even though he or she is the one physically rolling the dice. So you cannot use R7 to modify “Omega Leader’s” attack dice.
