Are Mist Hunters used the same as B-wings?

By DiggityDug, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I really like the mist Hunter model. It reminds me of the old clone gunships. If I were to start playing Scum, I'd want to try some all G1-a lists, or majority B-1a lists. Does anyone have some good tactics?

personally, I like Findsmen with Accuracy Correcters, Juke, and crew. It's not a combination the Bwing can easilly field, relying on the G1A's native evade and crew slot. Zuckuss crew on 1, 4 lom crew on another, and a pair of concussion/spice/chip Black sun soldier Zs give you some hard hitting and durable ships with blockers.

Here is a list that I put together. I'm most interested in the 4-LOM (I haven't been able to run it yet myself). With the combination of upgrades, he essentially gets to choose his maneuver after he sees what all the lower skilled pilots have done. I thought about putting intelligence agent on Zuckuss for the possibility of seeing a maneuver and changing 4-LOM's maneuver accordingly, but until I see how often the Dengar+Predator combo is doing work, I thought is start with this.

Zuckuss — G-1A Starfighter 28

Predator 3

Dengar 3

Sensor Jammer 4

Cloaking Device 2

Ship Total: 40

4-LOM — G-1A Starfighter 27

Stay On Target 2

Navigator 3

Advanced Sensors 3

Inertial Dampeners 1

Tractor Beam 1

Hull Upgrade 3

Mist Hunter 0

Ship Total: 40

Cartel Spacer — M3-A Interceptor 14

"Mangler" Cannon 4

"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) 2

Ship Total: 20

4-LOM is about the most maneuverable and reactive ship out there. And the best part is that he can make sure he puts himself in range 1 of a lower skilled Pilot to pass the stress. He gets Advanced Sensors so he can get his actions but react with his maneuver. He has the Mist Hunter so he can Barrel Roll, but could also be used to grab someone into range 1 so he can pass the stress. He also has a hull upgrade to help survive a little longer. Zuckuss is able to increase his dice rolled, and typically gets 3 rerolls with his upgrades. The other upgrades try to extend his longevity as well. The Scyk is there to just deal some damage and land some crits.

Panic attack Scum version, fun to play and surprisingly effective on the battlefield

The evade action instead of barrel roll makes the generics feel less maneuverable than b-wings, but the 3-4 k-turns lets you get past large based ships without the advanced sensors barrel roll.

I think the biggest difference is not having to pay for the crew slot and the amazing scum crew. I ran Zuckuss with Dengar crew (instead of predator to free his EPT) and 4-LOM with outlaw tech, because he loves the stress. 4-LOM with Zuckuss crew and the other way around is great, but then you can't have them both as pilots.

In terms of generics, the PS3 is okay, but PS5 isn't that much more expensive and gets an EPT slot. I think the named pilots are way better due to abilities, another contrast to the b-wing.

I went to the FFG regional in MN this weekend with:

Zuckuss

Veteran Instincts

Sensor Jammer

Dengar (crew)

Mist Hunter

Tractor Beam

4-LOM

Stay on target

Advanced Sensors

Outlaw Tech

Contracted Scout

Adaptability

Intelligence Agent

Inertial Dampeners

Anti-Pursuit Lasers

The goal is to flank with Zuckuss. Pick a wrong maneuver on purpose with 4-LOM so you can advanced sensor and evade, stay on target makes the move you want red, collect outlaw tech focus even on a bump. The Scout helps Intel agent someone that out PSes 4-LOM, and tries to block as much as possible.

You can run 4-LOM into the scout wit double tokens and pass the stress to anyone that got blocked, and double token without moving until they get away from the block.

Good Luck!

You really don't need Predator with Dengar on Zuckuss. After all they basically do the exact same job. You could go with Adaptability and buff the Cartel to a Tansarii Vet.
