VCX-100/DOCKED PHANTOM + TLT + GUNNER + ACCURACY CORRECTOR... is this legal?

By Sentinal, in X-Wing

Here is the set up:

1) VCX targets Decimator (outside the arc) with TLT, 1st attack rolls one hit(boom), during "Modify Attack Dice" step uses AC to change it to two hits, (dice can not be modified again with this attack).

2) Repeat process for second TLT attack.

[End result 4 hits on Decimator thus far]

3) Fire TLT again during "End of Combat Phase" step at Decimator, roll no hits, use GUNNER to attack different ship in rear arc, rolled one hit, used AC for third time this round to change it to two hits.

Reason:

{Accuracy Corrector is used during the “Modify Attack

Dice” step. After canceling your dice results, you may

choose not to add 2 results. This still counts as

an attack. Dice results added by Accuracy Corrector

may not be modified again, but may be canceled (for

example, by the effect of Ion Cannon).[And by extention TLT]

Accuracy Corrector can be used to add 2 results

even if you have the Blinded Pilot Damage (original

Damage deck) card and are rolling no attack dice.}

[delete]Secondary question: Now if GUNNER was used for either TLT attack DURING the Combat Phase, would there still be an additional attack at the "End of Combat Phase" due to "Docked Phantom"[/delete]

EDIT: Forget secondary question, answer is "no"

This is a gross misuse or misunderstanding of Gunner, TLT and the Ghost/Phantom title cards. The title card states that if the Phantom is docked to the Ghost, the Ghost may attack at the end of the combat phase with a turret upgrade and may not attack anymore that round. This means that you don't get the second TLT shot if you fire with a TLT in the end of the combat phase, and that gunner CANNOT take effect as the first attack at the end-of-combat-phase MUST be your last one as per the title.

Edit: There's more wrong here than I first noticed, so moving on....

The TLT can only do a maximum of 1 damage per attack (so 2 for 2 attacks) because all results are canceled after you've established whether or not the defender was hit. Canceling results is not modifying, which is why we can use crackshot on Omega Leader. So at most, a Ghost with a docked phantom and a TLT can only do 3 damage per turn if it's using the turret for both attacks.

1- Looks fine, but even when Accuracy Corrector set the number of hit results of the TLT attack to 2, the TLT still deals only one damage per attack, because all results are cancelled during the Compare Dice step.

2- The same, save for you bracketed comment. The Decimator has suffered, at this point, 2 damage, not 4.

3- Looks wrong. The Gunner can trigger of a miss from the TLT, but the Phantom title prevents any more attacks after the one at the end of the combat phase.

Secondary question: No. Gunner specifies that you cannot attack again this round after you use it.

How many points is the white elephant?

"Accuracy Corrector is used during the “Modify Attack

Dice” step. After canceling your dice results, you MAY

choose not to add 2 results. This still counts as

an attack. Dice results added by Accuracy Corrector

may not be modified again, but MAY be canceled (for

Accuracy Corrector can be used to add 2 results

even if you have the Blinded Pilot Damage (original

Damage deck) card and are rolling no attack dice."

"ION CANNON: If this attack HITS the defender suffers 1 damage and receives 1 ion token. Then cancels all dice results."

"TWIN LASER TURRET: Perform this attack twice (even against a ship outside your firing arc). Each time this attack HITS the defender suffers 1 damage. Then cancel all dice results."

In both cases, IC and TLT, the attacks have to hit first (after "Modify Dice Step"). In the FAQ for AC, the second "MAY" indicates means the attacker, using IC, has the choice to cancel the results to add 1 damage and 1 Ion token. Since the second half of the text in TLT is almost the same as IC, it too MAY be a choice to follow thru with.

If the interpetation is wrong, why use "MAY" when "SHOULD", "WOULD" or "MUST" have been a better fit for describing how AC affects the "Ion Cannon" upgrade card?

EDIT: The second paragraph of AC says you are adding two hit results even if "Blinded Pilot" damage card means you aren't rolling dice.

If AC already canceled the dice rolls in the "Modify Dice" step for each attack then adding two hits, what are IC and TLT canceling in the "Compare Results" step?

Accuracy corrector only works in the modify dice step while the canceled results from the turrets are applied after comparing results and determining if the defender has been hit or not. Neither the Ion Cannon Turret nor the Twin Laser Turret have the word "may" in their text, so if they hit then defender must receive 1 damage (and an ion token if it's the ion turret) and no more.

Nevermind, I was corrected that adding two "hits" is not the same as adding "damage". The hits would still get canceled because they are still considered dice at that point.

Not only that but also the timing issue. A normal attack goes like:

1. Declare Target

2. Roll attack dice

3. Modify attack dice

a. defender modifies attack dice (e.g. sensor jammer)

b. attacker modifies attack dice (here is where accuracy corrector comes in and it cannot be used outside this step)

4. Roll defense dice

5. Modify defense dice

a. attacker modifies defense dice (e.g. juke)

b. defender modifies defense dice

6. Compare results (crackshot and Wampa can be used here)

7. Deal Damage (ion turret and TLT dice canceling and damage assigning is here)

If cancelling dice countered as modifying them, then how would a defender use their green dice against an accuracy corrector?
