How do we play a three player game?
three player games
According to the rule book you use the team play rules and have two Imperial players and one player controlling both Rebel admirals and generals.
or you can do what we do and just play as 1v1 and just agree what you are doing as a pair
yeah, that was my thought too : ) are the multiplayer rules fun? Does the game play well that way?
I'll be honest, we haven't played them. We read them and just didn't see the point, as what every happens you are going to talk things over so whats the point in splitting them so firmly.
We just agree what we are doing during the assignment phase and then take turns in activating someone.
But do let us know how you find the multilayer rules, as we may use them at some point.

They are fine. They do add a constraint based on Rebel Admiral --> Imperial Admiiral -> Imperial General --> Rebel General order that is another item that you have to manage, which I think is a plus. That being said if both players on one side are new, it can slow things down considerably.
There are games that say 2-4 players where you can technically play with 2 and get a suboptimal experience. This game is the opposite. The optimal experience is at the low end of the range rather than the high end. But it's good they thought of a way to incorporate more players regardless.
I like the Team game, it adds new layers of complexity to the game.
I played a team game yesterday. I think it works well.
On the down side I think it adds more time to the game and it's a little awkward to talk through strategy with the other team there. You end up pointing at cards and things a lot trying to get silent consensus.
Rules wise really the only difference is you have to give some thought to order of play and give more consideration to the balance of your leader types. We had to pass on a good general because we already had too many general leaders.
Strategy wise one person on your side can pass and not affect the other's ability to go on missions and activate systems.
On the plus side I played a Star Wars game with three friends instead of one. Dividing up combat is more fun and less tedious.
Edited by usgrandprixMy 2 V 2 team game went on for 6 and half hours. how i play teams now, is just 1 on 1 rules, but both factions have 2 players, one does the probes and chooses to be a space or ground commander, the other handles missions.
the rules are easy to follow and i don't think you need to do the team rules if your smart and can just play with two players sharing a faction
