Corran vs "Fel's Wrath" in the End phase

By Parravon, in X-Wing Rules Questions

An interesting quirk came up in a game today. Corran made his End phase attack on an undamaged "Fel's Wrath" and scored two crits. The first one that was dealt was a Direct Hit. The second Damage card dealt effectively destroyed "Fel's Wrath" no matter what it was, but the FAQ says he sticks around until the end of the following Combat phase, which is fine.

But... and here's where it got amusing, because we were using the first edition Damage deck, the second card was "Injured Pilot" where "All players must ignore your pilot ability". Now because Damage cards take effect immediately, that meant he wasn't going to be able to stick around for the following Combat phase.

Correct?

Yes.

Played it right.

Wait a second, you were playing against Fel's Wrath? **** the exact rules and just out of respect for the bold decision allow Wrath to stick around until the next EoT.

I mean how often does Fel's Wrath's ability even matter? Next how often does it actually becomes surprisingly useful because he's "killed" during the EoT allowing him to last another round? And finally to put it all together how often are you going to run into that one possible exception to the only thing that could actually make you glad you had Wrath?

Oops. I guess this is the RULES form so I guess that means an accurate answer so if you shut down hit pilot ability then there is nothing to keep him alive through next turn.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I just remember reading it in the FAQ and thinking "how often is that likely to happen?". And lo and behold, my opponent fronts up with "Fel's Wrath". LOL!

It turned out that he wasn't a bad choice as most of the opposing pilots had a higher PS, so if he was destroyed during the Combat phase, he still would have got a parting shot off.
