ISD List for a Newish Player

By PenguinBonaparte, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hi all,

I got to play in a Sullust event, where I was 5th out of 12ish people but haven't really had a chance to play since then, but there is a regional coming up nearby and I've wanted to get back into the game. I've got two possible variants, but don't really know what's good right now, if the Rhymer-Ball is still a thing, or what to expect. So, since I had a bunch of shots where I totally blanked or accuracied out with my VSDs back in the day, I think I should run Vader, even though Screed might work well with the sort of overload pulse focus I"m thinking of.

First idea: 2ISDs for lots of firepower, leading with the ISD1 which should draw fire and get in the way.

Commander: Vader

ISDII + Vader + Gunnery Team + Avenger

ISDI + Gunnery Team

Raider I + Instigator + Quad Laser Turrets

Raider II + Impetuous + Overload Pulse = 398

Or drop the ISDI to a VSDII to fit in a second overload pulse and IG-88 to help with fighters

ISDII + Vader + Gunnery Team + Avenger + SW7 Ion Batteries

VSDII + Overload Pulse

Raider I + Instigator + Quad Laser Turrets

Raider II + Impetuous + Overload Pulse

IG-88 = 400

Would either of these be viable in whatever the current meta is? Or as I line up all these shots for the ISDII will they just jump out of my arc even if he hangs back a bit? Thanks!

I played against a I,I,R,R list recently and the B-Wings just smashed them. No fighters or a single IG88 isn't enough to deat with squadrons. The raider engaging fighters with imaginary squadrons won't help for long either.

Drop a raider and take 4 tie interceptors. Also squeeze in ECM on the ISD2.

Were there any particular tricks you were using or was it just raw B-wing firepower? It sort of seemed like they wouldn't be able to keep up or stay in range of ships back when they came out so is it largely because my ships are anchored to something big and slow? I've only got one fighter pack but could toss in Howlrunner, 2 Interceptors, and an Advanced to leverage the escort keyword I suppose. If I did that would the 2ISD or ISD/VSD be a better option?

Yavaris, Independence, Salvation 4 Bwing 2 Xwing yt2400.

When playing against imperials just get the Bwings in front of them with the speed 4 of the Independence rule then watch Yavaris get 3 Bwings to do 11 damage with double taps.

4 Tie-I are a good fighter force using only 1 squadron command but adding Vader to the two you have then put in regular fighters or mauler if you can afford it should get you enough units to tie up bombers and enough comat power to get some kills so if the enemy are squadron heavy you aren't just throwing victory points at him.

Well Vader's my commander so can't toss him in. IG hopefully will help take down some fighters, though maybe Dengar giving/boosting counter-attack would also be good. Just can't decide on VSD or ISD.

It's really not debatable. Take the ISD. Period. Full Stop. The End.

An ISD has more of everything in ways that actually matter. Just drop the Raider-II to get a decent fighter screen. Just go with an even number and get at least one unique squadron to buff the others.

Well the point of the VSDII and Raider 2 is to use overload pulse so the ISDII can then go to town on them. Is that not as good as I think it is?
