Wonderful! Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!
Wave IX predictions
Surely the Wave 9 Imperial release will have to be the TIE/sf?
It's what the Rebs get that I'm particularly interested in...
I'll throw my two cents in the ring (love mixing metaphors).
Next announcement:
Wave 9 (fourth quarter)
Small base Rebel ship (no idea, but don't see the ARC being put in)
TIE s/f
Scurrg bomber
Small base Scum (Could be Fang, but looks way too similar to a backwards-facing Scyk to me)
In wave 9, but released after Rogue One (similar to TFA ships currently)
U-Wing
TIE Striker
Then:
Rebel Vets
E-Wing/other Rebel updates
Scum Aces
Kihraxz/Starviper updates
Scum Epic
Scyk update/Action VI transport
I'm guessing that Rebel Vets/Scum Aces would come in around 2nd quarter of '17 (functioning as an in-between wave as FFG ramps up for more R1/Episode 8 stuff), with the first Scum Epic being a floater of any possible time.
At this point I just want the tie s/f so I can run a squad of first order tie fighters with at least two types of ships. I also like the look of that ship, beefed up tie fighter with a rear firing arc is a must! this ship releasing with or shortly after the new falcon and poe would be a blessing.
Of course I want to see the rogue one ships but I can't see that happening until fall at the earliest.
If the leak is a hoax they sure picked ships that are highly plausible to be in wave 9. My gut says the leak is right, and a real preview often appears once a leak happens. **cross fingers** wave 9 Friday!
1) ARC-170
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/ARC-170
Plausible because it would be the Rebel counterpart to the TIE/sf with a rear arc. Hopefully the rear arc would have one less attack die to be thematic. Also has torp slots and astromech. Maybe comes with an astromech that buffs ordnance making it the Rebel torp boat.
2) TIE/sf
We all know this is coming. Front/Rear arc tie fighter hopefully coming with Mag Pulse missiles. Now that ordnance is good, we need more variety.
3) Mandalorian Fang Fighter
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fang_fighter
Plausible because it is from Rebels and Scum needs another small base ship. Would likely have 3 agility. Perhaps 4 hit points making it equivalent to A-wing & TIE/fo & TAP. Scum badly needs good ships in the 18-25 point range now that PS2 Y-wings are dead. Also having a 30 point ace, like the Inquisitor, would really be wonderful.
4) Shadow Caster
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Shadow_Caster
Plausible because it is from Rebels. Many have been thinking Scum would get the Havoc instead of this because the Havoc is in Armada. Perhaps they were designing the Havoc for X-wing, but this ship from Rebels is very similar and it's likely there is corporate incentive to release ships from current Star Wars series/movies.
There could be similarities to the Ghost with this ship. Perhaps not 4 attack dice, but it would have a front arc and a turret slot. The turret slot means another new turret upgrade possibly. I suppose there's a chance for it to be duel faction Rebel/Scum. But if this were the case, why aren't they making the YT-1300 duel faction with the new Falcon pack?
The leak was correct and my gut instinct was too.
Today is a good day for today is wave 9 preview day!
1) ARC-170
With title, 3 dice front arc, 2 dice rear arc just as I hoped. Astromech and crew slots make for a fun ship.
2) TIE/sf
Front and rear arc just like it's suppose to be. Sadly it does not come with Mag Pulse missiles, oh well, still looks good overall.
3) Fang Fighter
Yes! Best ship of the wave for sure. 3 agility and 4 hull, perfect! Fenn Ram is the ace Scum needs. Cost and pilot ability check out good. It just better have 1 turns & a green turn somewhere for PTL. Hopefully the PS3 generic is costed correctly. Just add auto-thrusters and it's good to go. Didn't quite expect 3-attack, but I totally like it.
4) Shadow Caster
So far it's likely the worst ship in the wave. This could change once more is revealed of course. No turret upgrade slot like a Ghost. The movable firing arc could be gimmicky. Stats and cost of a firespray is not a great sign. Right now I would take Boba Fett over any of the named pilots, and Boba Fett isn't that good.
If the generic pilot cost 30 points that would allow some nice builds. Sabine at PS5 costs 35, so I'm not hopeful.
