Flotillas - Which faction won wave 3?

By ceejlekabeejle, in Star Wars: Armada

Wasn't even close to funny. Worse part is you found a few other fan boys to clap at something that fell so flat as to be laughable. This fan boy stuff is so funny. You sling bad insults and you get claps--talk about bias.

In messing around with list building, I think the Rebel flotillas are like a one or two include, max, at least from what I can tell. I think 3 of them will be too many points for ships that can't roll attack dice except vs squadrons.

But man, that one or two include has some shenanigans!

True for about 4 months and then they will be flash in the pan sort of stuff only used in causal games, scenarios, and higher point games. These things won't find a way into competitive play for more than a few months. I could be wrong, but the most we will see is one as a rammer to hold a ship in place for a double tap like a temporary tractor beam sacrificing 20 some points for a larger victim. It will be game and wiz kid stuff and everyone will lap it up until the fad is over and they are tired of the silliness of ISD being checked by a flotilla. If you tempor your excitement over these tiny little SKU, you'll won't be as dissappointed when they quickly out live their usefulness. You'll all have to use them because you'll be preordained 3-4 per side since there isn't anything else to buy. Lap it up.

Didn't you quit?

He must quit smoking every week.

AdmiralNelson, just...stop.

No, I instantly realize the stuff stunk. The reaction was spot on. You fan boys are use to goose stepping you don't understand the forest for the trees. Seriously, flottilas for a year to year and a half. Sorry you can't see the obvious. Sorry you're and Sanpfist etc. are so far behind the curve your judgement is clouded.

Your opinion would be valid if you had waited until the latest articles before forming and articulating your statements. As it's stands, you gave us your hilariously immature reaction well before we knew anything about what these ships would do to the competitive balance of the game. Now you're just trolling and your opinion is worthless.

So why are you bothering to stick around for this debate? That's what I don't understand. If we're a bunch of "fan boys", whose "judgement is clouded" (mate, this is a tabletop game, not a conspiracy, get a bit of perspective), why are you wasting your time having this lengthy argument with us, rather than going off and discussing all those games that are evidently worth your wise opinion?

Point is, no-one here is taking you seriously. Until you can give us some kind of proof that people are unhappy with wave 3 and are fleeing the game, what you say is completely unfounded. Even on hearsay, your evidence is weak: you say that the game is dying in your area; the rest of us say it is growing and thriving in ours. If our forum is anything to go by, our community is still active and enjoying the game, and thoroughly excited about the prospect of Gozantis and GR-75s. And, frankly, if Armada's biggest critic AdmiralNelson is still playing, it can't be doing that badly can it?

So why bother with us? Why preach to us "sheeple"? You're either a masochist or a troll.

^ That's what net trolls do - they troll. It gives their lives some semblance of purpose I suppose.

Nelson needs to go. He already said he would. All he's been doing is stirring up trouble for the sheer stick-it-to-you-ness of it.

The thing is, he's not really stirring up trouble. None of us have come round to his point of view, we're not following him to some other game. He just makes a bit of a fool of himself.

And I'm not sure he's trying to stick it to us. I think that he made such a fuss at the initial Flotillas release that he now has to keep it up for appearances' sake. Fact is, he keeps playing the game, and until he stops doing so he's got no moral high ground. Needs to put up or shut up.

To be fair, there has been barely a single post from him since his rant about wave 3 that did not get some semi-funny comment. May be we should all, admirals included, get back to normal forum life.

Pretty sure this is false. He's been trolling every wave 3 thread. It isn't non-stop, like it was after the announcement, but it has still been consistent.

Nelson, you can whine all you want about the size and lack of 'wow' factor. That's purely subjective. To a degree, I'm disappointed as well. I've been saying that from the get go. I was one of those saying FFG was neglecting us prior to wave 3 announcement. When it comes to content, however, it takes some willful blindness to not see the huge impact this wave will have on the meta. Your judgement is already biased toward "this wave blows" and is thus completely useless to a discussion on competitive balance. That's a textbook definition of a troll. Call me a fanboy all you want. I'm happy to drop a bad game on it's ass. I've done it in the recent past. But, if you think this is a bad game and FFG is a bad company, you really need to get out more. I'm not saying they're perfect, but they listen and respond to their players is an above average fashion.

But since you're done with FFG, there's this little British company I should introduce you to...

Rule Brittania! rule the waves

Oh hang on, is this one of those circumstances where I shouldnt blindly defend the british?

Hey, I am by no means the admirals lawyer. What I am trying to say is, this whole circle of trolling, back trolling, etc. is not bringing any substance to the forum. This thread deviated well off course just because everybody and his dog needed to get their funny Nelson comment in.

Doesnt mean that I defend Nelsons attitude, just saying that it alone cannot explain the constant raking up of the half-dead "yeah Nelson has a crappy opinion about wave 3" horse. If every other person on the forum could just chill once he goes into rantmode it would only mean a single post, not more not less.

Unfortunately, his own history has shown that to be not true...

... like when he went and created 3 posts dissing wave 3, one of which basically contained "I misspelled stuff in the title of the last post so ignore it."

.He does what he wants to.

I report it when it breaks forum rules.

Good thing I dont do many silly things. . . well. . . silly things that can get me reported!

You're fine Lyraeus. No one here is going to report people for humor. That person did themselves in.

The problem is often that people crave fame so much as a source of validation for their existence that they cannot get through their merits alone, that once they get notoriety for bad behaviour they return to repeat it, and nurture that notoriety until it's all they have.

AdmiralNelson, instead of being an internet troll propping up the wreck of your own self esteem by being too opinionated about tiny plastic spaceships, switch off your computer and go volunteer at your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter.

By working to help those in need you can re-build your self-esteem in a positive way, and not need to stir up trouble on internet forums in order to generate a false sense of importance. There are people that genuinely need your help, go help them instead of doing what you do here.

Rebels win IMO: they more often get that 30-40 point gap in list building than imperials for some reason. Further: their squadrons are generally better, so a cheap support ship for them is only a good thing.

For my part, Rebels seem to have the upper hand with the 18 point transport being a clear winner.

I rarely take more than 3 A wings and Tycho in my fleets, preferring big ships battering other people's big ships rather than mucking about activating little guys. In the lists i'm writing now, that 18 point transport with expanded hangars allows me to really get into the fighter/bomber game without compromising my main focus.

With the cheapest Imp flotilla being 23, i feel that extra 5 points (in exchange for limited firepower) leaves Imp admirals scraping about to make ends meet.

Being a carrier player, I can say without a doubt the Rebels won this wave hands down.

The GR75 is basically a poor mans carrier, whilst the Rebels pay premium for their squadrons...you could run a pair of unarmed GR75's behind a pair of tricked out space whales, with a swarm of a-wings...add admiral to taste and you have a great fleet with activation advantage and squadron advantage.

I always struggled with the rebels and squadron commands...I didn't have that stupid flexibility the victory/tarkin combo had...now I do...and they come with scatter tokens.
