My Tie Defender List

I want to use this ship but I am having a hard time finding something that would work with it because of the points. I know the veteran pack is around the corner but I want to work within the current boundaries of the game.

The idea being Vessery's target lock ability in constant supply while trying to keep Turr and Fel alive and also benefiting from the target locks. I'd love to hear some ideas to change things around or criticism about this list.

Though Vessery's ability does jive well with Cluster Missiles, imo he costs far too much to use as a missile carrier. Without the Tie/D title, he may as well take a Heavy Laser Cannon.

I don't think autothrusters alone will keep the interceptors alive, especially since without PtL they'll be using their measly one action on target locking. Maybe give Soontir PtL and swap Phennir out for a TIE Advance or a TIE/fo ace.

I wasn't too keen on the missiles the more I thought about it but I see them used so little I wanted to give them some love since I have stacks of them hahaha. Taking Daxxglax's advice here is another list

I'm not sure if I should add a one point elite pilot trait to Vader or not but I thought this might be interesting to play as it does have some good synergy with Vessery. I will have to look at the tie/fo pack since I have no idea what is in it. Thanks for your input Draxxglax and if anyone else has any idea for pre veterans pack I would love to hear it.

Tie interceptors are bad friends of Vessery because force you to buy TC when these vessels needs stealth device to survive. I think that Tie Ad, Inquisitor or Omega leader are best choice

Add the title and ATC to Vader for a single point and then through on Adaptability since its free. Give that a whirl.

The problem of combining Vessery with Soontir is that Soontir will always shoot before him (unless for some reason you decide to put VI on Vessery and Adaptability on Soontir... but lets not go there), so Soontir will be spending his target lock before Vessery will get a chance to take advantage of it. For that reason I prefer pairing him with ships that either shoot before him and maintain target locks, and leave any ships that might want to spend their locks to shoot after him (as Vessery will have already fired and used his ability). Unfortunately, in many cases lower-PS ships will not be boosting Vessery's attack in the first combat turn because they won't have been in target lock range when they moved.

So in my opinion, Vessery is usually best paired with an ATC TIE Advanced (usually Vader) as they want to hold onto that lock, Omega Leader (same reason), the Inquisitor (can easily target lock and still have defensive actions with the v1 title), and possibly a kitted out Redline or named phantom with FCS (if you can find the points).

A list I had some success with was:

Vader with VI, ATC and the title

Omega Leader with Juke and Comm Relay

Vessery with VI and HLC

After Veterans comes out I'll probably go for a triple 8 list with the Inquisitor, Vessery (with a tractor beam and D/0 title) and Omega Leader so that I can feel free to spend my target locks in any order I want.

Darthlurker's response is spot-on. Vessery wants wingmen who are equal or lesser PS, or that hold their locks for extended stretches. Taking VI helps extend this list. Interestingly, ATC Vader with adaptability works here; against anyone with a trueace, Vader can go to 10 and trump them; against everyone else, he can slip to eight and use his ATC to force a crit after Vessery has shot and stripped shields.

I've personally tried running Vessery with Royal Guards with Push and targeting computers. It doesn't work how you'd hope. Interceptors need every action they can get just to function. If you're looking for an eccentric wingman for Vessery, consider Valen Rudor. Same PS, and an ability that helps him get locks against high PS. I've also had success comboing Vessery with an FCS phantom, but that's an awful lot of points.

My favourite list with Vessery is this. Vessery seems to work well with Adv Prototypes due to their title.
