How to counter 3 Punishing One

By JimbonX, in X-Wing

Yesterday I came second in a Store Championship with this list. Around 20 players attended; all good lads and a great mix of lists - but there were three or four Triple Toilet Seats lists which I thought may be the case. I played two on the way; lost one (one Jump off the board early, two badly damaged) won one:

Wes Janson

Veteran Instincts

R3-A2

Integrated Astromech

Wedge Antilles

Opportunist

BB-8

Integrated Astromech

Keyan Farlander

Veteran Instincts

Advanced Sensors

I played three other games which I won; 3 Interceptor Aces, 3 K-Wings w/ TLT & Tactician and a Tel Jumpmaster with Gonk and Z-95 swarm. Good mix there, some came down to the wire but this list can still do well against others. That first volley of fire concentrated on one target is vital. Go into it using R3-A2, Opportunist and get Keyan stressed with a target lock. Repositioning can be difficult but that's what BB-8 is for and well, Advanced Sensors Keyan does what Keyan wants.

To be honest I could have spared a point, always kept the bid and swapped Opportunist for Predator. But I had great fun flying it.

When I read the title of this topic, I just thought like " ... you have been fooled by your opponent, the title is unique ... " ...

I prefer Blount, 3 talas and a grey Y with crackshot, plasmas and autoblaster turret. The y cuts shields off, then I have 2 concussions and a home missile for a wider range of threats.

To get Crackshot on the Y-wing requires R2-D6 which is another point and does not allow IA the way it does on an X-wing. Personally I would rather spend the extra points on Extra Munitions to get more mileage out of the plasma torpedoes. Plus sprinkling liberally with Chips.

What makes you think I didn't have that too?

Place the asteroids 1distance from each other in the middle of the board and let them come to you.

Its really difficult for large ships to cross tight rocks and keep their target locked.

Then just book it to the other side of the table. If you got mines, drop'm. Soon as one gets a little bit away from the others or you can approach without his front arc, go in and blow it up.

Takes awhile, but they prey on the initial strike. Dont give it to them.
