Triple X fun

By Red 7, in X-Wing

I haven't flown THIS list yet, but it looks promising.

The idea is that higher PS Wes shoots and strips an enemy ship of a token, then Wedge and Biggs try to finish the job.

Biggs will as always draw fire and regain with R2-D2, and I am trying the R7 Astromech on Wedge to try for some rerolls.

Unlike my previous lists, these guys will fly together.

I will let you know how it works, Feel free to comment.

I just switched Wedge's R7 Astromech for R2-F2 and that seemed to help Wedge fit his role in the squad better.

Meaning that I don't have any more shield regenerating Astromechs, so the next best thing is to increase agility.

This trio did very well and took out vader and 3 Avenger Squadron Interceptors.

Feel free to have a look at the squad HERE and let me know what you think.

Went 4-2 at a regional yesterday with my Poe, Ello and Biggs list, might have done a little better and made the cut if my green dice didn't fail me big time in my 2nd loss (only one natural evade rolled in over 30 dice). The list is a lot of fun. I can't say how many times people state how much they hate Biggs, and DTF and R4-D6/IA really kept Biggs in the game way longer than he should have been.

You can actually run XXXXZ with four rookies, integrated astro, and R2 astro on them, and throw in a base Headhunter all are at PS2. I made top 16 in Chicago regionals this year with this list. The trick is knowing how to fly in formation and if you get out of how to get back to formation.

I think in most places the age for XXXX is 21...

The title is misleading there's no pr0n here.

Incorrect. This is nothing but pure, unfiltered, unadulterated T-65 & T-70 love.

Would you consider this list better than 4 t70s w r2 and integrated astro? What is the real use of the z 95 and how much does it add to the viability of the t65 list?

I've been thinking about four Red each with a flechette torp. Gives it that PS edge on jumpmasters and the survivor of that salvo won't get another action. Not so confident it will work though.

No. Garven would need to still be holding the focus at end of combat to spend it on droid shields. At that point passing the focus is pointless.

That's is my understanding of the card.

As I said, I have the following options:

- Use the focus for Garvin's own attack/defence

- Not use the focus and pass it to Biggs to use for his attack (Biggs has a lower PS and shoots after Garvin) or

- Not use the focus at all until I spend it to recover Garvin's shield.

IMHO this is a very versatile use for R5 P9

Yeah dude, you're fine. That's exactly how it would work on Garven and there ain't sweet FA wrong with that set-up. Gives you versatility. You have to actually spend it to pass it along to Biggs though. Thankfully you can spend it whenever you like on attack or defense, no focus results needed!

I just spiced things up a little and added Poe as my third X-Wing.

Biggs and Garven team up together, Biggs drawing fire/regenerating shields with R2 D2, Garven passing his focus if not used, and Poe goes and does his thing with PTL, AT, and R5 P9.

I have had A LOT of fun with THIS list :D Give it a go and tell me what you think.

Been thinking about running a triple T70 list.

2x

Red Vet, PTL, R2 Astromech, Autothrusters

Red Ace, R2D2, Comm Relay, Integrated Astromech.

for 100 points

Ace is a tank, the vets are flankers. With PTL and R2 astro, the vets do a good Tie Intercepter impression, trading an agility and barrel roll for twice the health. While Red Ace with a banked evade (asteroid shenangans) can survive two maxxed proton torpedos with blank greens, and if he rolled even a single eyeball he can start regenerating the next turn.

Around these parts, Triple XXX sells rootbeer and hamburgers.

But here's a T-70 list that I am very keen to fly, just because it sounds fun.

2x Red Sq. Veteran

- Proton Torpedoes

- Targeting Astromech

- Cool Hand

- Integrated Astromech

- Weapons Guidance

Blue Ace

- R5-X3

- Autothrusters

I really like the idea of being able to launch Torps off a red maneuver, and get the Focus from Cool Hand to use Weapons Guidance to change a blank to a hit on the torpedo roll. But in all likelihood, I'm probably going to use Cool Hand to grab an Evade token when things start to get rough. Blue Ace has Autothrusters because 1) I don't have a third Integrated Astromech, and 2) R5-X3 doesn't play well with Integrated Astromech.

I generally fly only T-70 lists. My favourite is:

Poe Dameron

-BB-8

-PTL

-Weapons Guidance

-Integrated Astromech

2x Red Squadron Veteran

-Targeting Astromech

-Weapons Guidance

-Cool Hand

-Integrated Astromech

I really like this idea!

I had been running double Rookies w/ chips and assorted torps, but now I have two T-70s (core and expac) so maybe this would be a good mix?

2x

Red Vet, PTL, R2 Astromech, Autothrusters

Red Ace, R2D2, Comm Relay, Integrated Astromech.

why not Predator instead of PTL for Vet ??

more punch but less turn?

99 points. All PS9

Wedge Antilles + BB-8 + Engine Upgrade. (Barrel roll, then manoeuvre, then boost)

Luke Skywalker + Adaptability + R2-D2 + integrated Astro. (shield regen)

Wes Jason + Adaptability + R5-P9 + integrated Astro. (shield regen)

2x

Red Vet, PTL, R2 Astromech, Autothrusters

Red Ace, R2D2, Comm Relay, Integrated Astromech.

why not Predator instead of PTL for Vet ??

more punch but less turn?

Because with PTL, you ALWAYS focus, even when boosting, improving your survivability. And TL is strictly better than Predator, when you take it. The green maneuver restriction isnt bad as long as you dont chuck your droid in front of a blaster bolt.

Great lists and ideas!

I initially started the triple x thread with the original Trilogy (OT) in mind, that is why I was using the T-65s.

It really is tempting to make T-70 lists though, they really do have so many more bells and whistles. They have even developed more flavour with the Force Awakens. I am excited to see what Rogue One will bring to the X-Wing table.

I'm just going to go with flow and keep making lists that are all OT aka all T-65s, are all T-70s, and are everywhere in between! :D

please feel free to do the same and share them here.

Theres something just awesome about 3 xwings, all ps 10, and all with an alpha strike averaging crit crit hit hit each.

My facourite brand of XXX.

I would love to see if this was viable, seems to be a fair match up against Potty Patrol and Imp Asses (except VI Vader will out PS these guys). Getting blocked will ruin the alpha strike, so remember the rule of 11.

My latest TripX squad.

Here is a game I played recently.

I was really proud of my formation flying until I flew Garven off of the board! :(  :P

I played around with the Astromech a little HERE . I think that the synergy is better here.

I also managed to fly the list better THIS time :D

I spiced things up a little and made a triple X T-70 LIST

THIS is a slight twist on the original. Equally fun to play.

It was actually pretty cool to be able to fly Poe as an arc dodger with PTL and BB-8.

I liked that I could spend the focus token when I was out of arc and it caused a better result than Poe's pilot skill.

It was also A LOT of fun to fly the two shield regenerating Red Squadron Veterans in formation, and focus fire on the ships that Poe was hunting :D
