12 PLAYERS YOU GUYS!

Just imagine the fight for uniques at some of those mixed-group tables

Just imagine the counting of willpower and threat.

Ah if it was closer that would be fun to go to. I doubt I would be a very good teammate with my current card pool though! lol.

I really want to get there sometime. 12 players... wow. I wonder if the quest can even be played solo.

I think they must have meant 12 heroes and a team of 4 players. Otherwise the odds of having multiple heroes is just too high.

Possibly. I mean, the Aragorns alone...

Time for a Dori/Fatty Secrecy deck!

I'm intrigued as to how they are going to make 12 players work. Too bad it's too far away.

The title sounds like something I would have loved to see in the last cycle, but I understand why it didn't make it. Glad that they decided to make this and keep us at this region for 1 more quest, as Annuminas is something I had always wanted to see in the game.

I really want to know if that's a misprint or if they're right about 12 players. Lots of ways they could do this that could be interesting:

1) Everyone only gets 1 hero. DOTA with LOTR. Pick your hero and support the team

2) Three different four player groups. They could be randomly assigned different gates or staging areas or allowed to strategically pick.

3) They could include a new non-unique scenario hero or three in the pack to choose. Pick a class: Ranger, Sentinel, Healer, Squad Leader, etc, etc. Maybe you pick one or three.

4) Something I didn't think of

5) Another thing I didn't think of (and lots more)

6) Whatever it is they actually do...

Of course, I can't imagine being able to find 12 other players outside of GenCon. I'm the only one I know who plays around where I am.

We can start organizing in groups of 4 right here. Or in larger groups if anyone is feeling brave.

That do say "12 players" twice though. Seems insane and legit.

Man, wish I could go to this. My guess: 3 groups of 4 players who are progressing through different stages of the quest but occur simultaneously in terms of game time, and impact one another as such. Think of Battle of Five Armies if you divided the 3 quest stages among 3 different groups of players, and some effects causing interaction between the three groups based on how well you are doing in the quest.

I have been wanting to put something like that together for other quests that could occur simultaneously: Battle of Carn Dum + The Dread Realm, for example. Now this makes me want to do it even more.

I was literally getting back on to post that idea as well. that's got to be what is happening. I bet there are effects similar to the sailing tests or the day/night cycle that are effected by how the battle is going for you and the other fronts/groups.

If only i could come;-; at least theres pods.

Woah 12 player.....

Isn't it hard enough balancing quests so that they can work solo, 2, 3 or 4 player...?

Will it even be possible to make a quest that can work with anywhere from 2 to 12 players?
(surely you can't play this one solo :P )

Logistics aside, this sounds like it could be a really cool quest with some great mechanics!! Can't wait to see some spoilers when Gencon rolls around!

12 players?! 12 encounter cards revealed per questing phase?!

It makes me thinking the 4 player Druadan Forest, all heros were killed by the tons of archery.

If they mean 12 players not 12 heros, that will be the most epic siege!

However, there will be a wonderful trip to Annuminas.

12 players? This is going to be nuts!

1 hero per player, 15 cards per deck.

I seriously doubt 12 players will all be facing the same staging area and encounter deck simultaneously. I suspect the quest has multiple paths, or some other contrivance.

Or, more likely, something was misstated and the 12 number is some sort of limit in the seating per time slot? Dunno.

Hopefully Bombadil posts and clears up all this ambiguity.

That was my first thought as well. It has to be something like 3 games of 4 players, each one somehow affecting the others like the Saga quest results. Because it has to be adaptable for solo. Because staging for 12 players in one round would be impossible to track every stat and trigger, and the encounter deck would be like 100+ cards or you'd be shuffling every other turn between staging, surge, and shadows.

As a POD and Gen-Con event exclusive, it doesn't HAVE to be adaptable for solo.
