Gives you 5 Y-wings with autoblaster turrets. Individually, not exactly high on the threat priority list. That range one bubble isn't all that threatening. A person can normally avoid it more often than not. Five range one bubbles on the other hand get more interesting, and with that many ships and hit points they are going to be around a while. The main strategy here is, I may lose one on approach, but I will close, and when I do I hurt you.
Triple scout? Well, I'll lose a Y-Wing... but then I close. You can't fire torpedoes at me running away, and if you're in close I'm shooting you. Personally, I like the BTL option here...
Aces? Same problem only worse. Less hit points and more dependence on green dice. The Emperor can't help you when the evades don't matter. And this unfortunately is why BTL is not such an obvious choice... Good wingman coverage lowers this concern.
Engine upgraded turrets? I've got 5 Y-Wings, cast the net. Decimators don't dodge. Dash with HLC is likely the biggest threat. Maneuverable enough to likely keep out of range one and continue using that turret all the while.
The list has flaws - clearly. Range 3 the firepower is laughable, and range two isn't a whole lot better. It depends a lot on your own red dice. Lowers the importance of green dice though! And if you're good enough to fly it with BTL you will seriously wreck things at range one.
